On the 3rd day we took part in a session where we got to learn and share something that we individually classed as our skill. Everyone in my skill-share group was either an Art, Photography or Film studies students so it was interesting to have various skills from different people. During this session, i was able to learn many different skills and the techniques i wasn't aware of to master the skill.
Skill 1: Playing the Guitar
For the first skill i was taught how to play the introductory chords to a song. By doing this i was able to discover that playing a guitar isn't as easy as it looks. the trick to playing the guitar successfully is to really press hard on the strings so that you play the cord properly and in tune.
I was then taught how to braid hair into a braid called a cornrow and to also do a fishtail plait. In order to do this successfully for both plaiting styles, its important to grip onto the hair so that the braid forms really tightly as oppose to being loose resulting in it falling out.
when painting the nails, i was taught by Hannah that the key is to start at the top of the nail and in the middle then do one stroke from the top to the bottom of the nail then do the sides until the whole nail is painted. i was also taught to avoid doing little brushstrokes otherwise the nail polish will go all gloopy and not look very attractive.
Skill 4: Applying Make up
And lastly i was taught how to apply foundation using a beauty blender which is basically a sponge. i learnt that this way is more effective because it allows you to blend the foundation evenly into your skin and it doesn’t leave brush strokes on your face like a foundation brush does.
