We've Been Down That Road Before, But That's Over Now | Shinobu | RE: Marco
Marco wasn’t sure what he expected. It’d make sense if she pushed him away and quite frankly he wouldn’t blame her. He wasn’t used to this whole… touchy feely thing. Or rather, being open about it. It was strange but pleasant how she felt warm. So he could still feel heat. That was nice.
"I missed you, too. More… than I know how to describe."
This wasn’t the time to get emotional. How totally uncool would it be if he started crying from pure joy? He was about to find out. Something hot streamed down the right side of his face. He moved a hand away from Shinobu and rubbed his cheek to discover his sleeve stained with water. Blinking only caused more to fall, forcing Marco to let go of Shinobu and step away to attend to his gushing emotions.
"S-Sorry. Ah, crap. Uh, give me a moment."
He turned around and took a few breaths, continuing to clear his eyes. When he eventually calmed down he still didn’t have the courage to face her and instead turned to glance to the side.
"…. Did Monomi say how long we had until we’re… wherever we’re going?"
Shinobu only hummed in response and rested her head on his chest. It made her feel like she had some kind of importance. She may not be able to define the importance very well, but just being missed and cared for made her content. Hopefully he knows she felt that way about him. Maybe not outwardly stated, but through body language and expressions at least.
She didn't notice Marco moving his hand away nor did she see the tears. Only feeling slight sadness when he moved away and wondering what was wrong. Though it only took her a moment to get a hint and smile softly. She honestly found it kind of cute and led her to giving his arm gentle pats. However her smile slowly faded soon after the question.
"Well um, I don't know. I don't think she said anything about that... But I know for sure we've made a good distance from land by the views from the helicopter."
The fact that she didn't know made her shuffle and look around. If Monomi did say, then Shinobu sure felt bad for not listening. Then not giving that much of a clear answer on top of it. Lowered her self-confidence by a hair. But regardless, she tried to keep her straight composure.
"Sorry for not giving a good answer. Uhm, why do you ask? Did someone say something or...?"
