oh, how deliciously fucked it is that due to their nature of the kind of characters they are, the matsunos process love through violence. they are deeply unsettled when people arent violent with them because it's all they've ever really known. it may be a gag anime to us, they may know they're gag characters. but the injuries they face are very real to them and everyone else in the cast. Sure, they can die and be violent for the bit thanks to that. since they're gag manga cahracters, who cares if they get hurt?
except, that really starts to go down the gutter when you think about the fact that osomatsu san does acknowledge the injuries and sicknesses are actually fucked up. they do have consequences, pretty severe ones at that, even if the show can play it as rather silly. its just nobody cares about the matsunos or what happens to them except each other. take for example, season 2's end. they did actually die in one of the most horrific ways possible, played completely straight. a plane crash into their house. death was instant. it was actually very serious, but even then … the ppl they knew didnt actually miss them, they just fought over who should be the show's new focus. the family were happy to be rid of their 'financial burdens'.
they say this kind of treatment is okay because they're gag characters, but it's not really. not to everyone else who faces the same things with far heavier seriousness and consequences, like Homura who tried to commit suicide, or when Matsuzou became deathly, deathly ill, or everything about Takahashi Nozomi or the flower fairy.
the matsunos are an exception to this respect and seriousness because nobody values their lives, not even themselves. they process love through violence because it's all they've ever known. They all know how much of a cosmic joke their lives are.

Everything they do being a performance by necessity goes hand in hand with their perspective on death and violence, in my opinion. I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on that -- but the two have a direct tie. In my opinion.. their deaths are 'funny' BECAUSE of the performance. Their deaths don't matter so long as they accomplish a comedic goal, because EVERYONE wants to see a disgusting disappointment eat shit, right? It makes everyone happy!
And honestly, while they do suck and are lazy, it's fairly rare to just become a NEET for no reason in a society like Japan. It stems more from their mentally ill aspects like Ichimatsu's OCD or their severe Anxiety and depression that has lead to them being where they are now, but they're treated like the worst thing to ever exist because of it.
The people always ask how they ended up being so shitty and why are they like this. Nevermind that we see how ruthelessly they were dehumanized and flattened by everyone around them for simply being sextuplets. Nobody bothering to even learn their names or tell them apart for all those years and just calling them Matsuno-kun. Let's not think about the INSANE SHIT that happened in their childhood if we wanna reach back to the -kun series. Oh, surely the bullying and isolation had nothing to do with it, right? And the treating them as completely interchangable and being the same for much of their lives? Or the intense anxiety that they all share because not a single person has ever actually TRIED to help them blossom on their own?
All of society failed them, and even their parents did when, although I'm sure there's financial reasons for it, they didn't help much in forming their identities (what with having to dress in bulk anyways), among other things. They all fell through the cracks and they're made to feel it's THEIR fault, so they allow people to get violent with them, but also get violent with each other ..... because it's the easiest way to not only vent frustration, but surely, it makes up for how 'rotten' they are, right?
They haven't been treated kindly for a large portion of their existence, which they're painfully aware is fictional. And with violence comes physical attention, of which they are pretty starved of. So it's only natural to process their love through this violence, is it not?
