Huh I don't remember telling Tumblr I spoke some Russian (I might have and just forgot)
Or maybe it inferred it from my other post?
KILL AI AND REBLOG AND CREATE ART IN 2026
Ghost stories dub in English...
Hokuto no ken dub in French...
I wonder if other countries have their version of laughably terrible dub of foreign media and how much of it is anime
Watched Kiki's delivery service for the first time and oh my heart 🥹❤️ I love it so much, I cried so much, the characters are sooo cute and I felt so much for little Kiki
[SPOILER] I'm a bit sad she didn't regain her ability to understand Jiji in the end because it feels like she lost a friend forever 😭 but I guess it's the same as losing an imaginary friend when growing up ? [/SPOILER]
I should really watch all Ghibli movies
What's wrong with me lately ?? Whenever I listen to Golden (or a cover / parody) I TEAR UP
The high notes make me ... Emotional ? Somehow ?
Particularly weird given I did NOT feel that way while watching the movie itself
Also when I say "lately" ... It's been a month already
Maybe I'm just overly tired
One time I was walking around and saw a guy holding a flag with a white lily (symbol of the monarchy that's often used by the french extreme right), so I was side eyeing him rly hard
I didn't do anything cos I'm just a small bug, my height isn't even 1m60 and I don't know any martial arts. Overall not someone who should pick up a fight with the average dude.
But the flag did ring a bell so I kept looking at it
Until it dawned on me
The guy wasn't extreme right (probably)
He was holding a flag of QUEBEC
Moral of the story : learn your flags of the world

When you get a ticket or a question, would you rather the user formulate it as :
"Hello [Name], hope you're well.
Is it ok for me to do X ?
I'm trying to do it that way because Y.
I've tried doing Z and it resulted in [error]"
Or :
"Hello [Name], hope you're well.
Context : Y is happening.
I've tried doing Z and it resulted in [error].
Question : Would it be ok for me to do X to solve the issue ?"
I tend to do the latter but idk what is preferred
Oh le pass Navigo là
throwback to that time in my existentialism class where the professor asked ‘who thinks hell is other people’ and half the class slowly and meekly put their hand up
then the prof was like ‘…i mean who originally said it’
there are some posts that sound utterly made up for the joke or for the notes, but this one I whole heartedly believe
Sounds right to me…
That quote is amazing to me in that it’s quoted completely accurately and yet in a way that means something completely different from what it meant in context.
(Sartre was claiming that Hell was other people. He was not claiming that other people were hell.)
…I can’t actually tell what distinction you’re drawing there. Can you expand?
The line comes from No Exit, which is set in Hell. Spoilers for No Exit follow
In particular, three people who have been condemned to hell are trapped eternally in a room together. And at first they think they got off easy without any pitchforks or fiery lakes or anything. But over the course of the play they discover that they have been chosen very specifically to have neuroses and character flaws that interact with and torment each other.
Each one needs the approval of a second in an unstable RPS cycle so that any time one of them might be satisfied by a second, the third swoops in and ruins it.
And when they figure this out, one of the characters expresses his understanding, that hell isn’t physical torture. “Hell is just—other people.”
So the point isn’t that other people, generically, are hellish; it’s rather that you can build a hell out of other people.
But when I hear people quote it, it’s usually sort of an introvert-pride thing. “Other people are hell; you should spend time alone.” And that’s not the point at all. It’s a statement about how bad unhealthy relationships can be, not a statement about how all relationships are unhealthy!
See also Sartre’s own comment here:
“hell is other people” has always been misunderstood. It has been thought that what I meant by that was that our relations with other people are always poisoned, that they are invariably hellish relations. But what I really mean is something totally different. I mean that if relations with someone else are twisted, vitiated, then that other person can only be hell.
Reblogging for the original post which was hilarious and also for that explanation which is beautiful
Another big point in No Exit is that the characters find out at the end that the room they’re in is not locked. They could just leave, but they’re each of them incapable of just leaving without winning their arguments. So really, hell is when we stay in dysfunctional relationships that harm us, when we can’t just leave other people be and move on.
"youve already written that trope" yesss. i like it a lots. i will be writing it again. 1000 stories of the same trope over and over again for ten million years
I've written the exact same story tens of times over the last ~15 years, using different words, describing the events and the setting in slightly different ways as my writing style naturally evolved
I have no desire to stop
Is it just me or is Ariana Grande getting way more from Wicked than Cynthia Erivo ?
I've been seeing so much of Ariana Grande since the first movie came out: on SNL, back when she was at Nickelodeon, in the streets in Swarovski ads etc.
But not so much of Cynthia Erivo ... And when I DO see her it's always with Ariana, for the movies promo
I'm guessing it mostly boils down to "Ariana Grande was already super popular to the general public"
Also I'm not hating or anything, I believe Ariana Grande is very pretty and talented and I'm happy to see her everywhere. But through the movies I discovered Cynthia Erivo, who is also gifted with beauty and outstanding musical skills. So I wish I got to see more of her
I have noticed Ariana is getting more attention from Wicked specifically, but I am also happy that Cynthia seems to have been offered more projects in general, which has given me some comfort. I was not a fan of the way For Good seemed for focus entirely too much on Glinda’s storyline, so I am glad that Cynthia seems to have shifted her focus to the future.
ur gonna be popular
the wicked movie teaches important moral lessons like "be bisexual in college" and "don't trust politicians" and "if you push someone who's in a wheelchair without their permission, someone might throw a bench at your head with their mind"
