thinking about how in the catfight scene elphaba tells glinda that fiyero loves her with so much certainty and confidence. how she doesn’t falter as she tells glinda that he never loved her; the perfect, beautiful, popular woman who is basically a princess waiting for the prince to give her her crown.

but instead knows, believes that fiyero loves her: elphaba who has been taught her whole life that she is an awful, ugly, unlovable freak just because she’s different. has spent the last (one, maybe five, who knows at this point) years in literal exile, hearing the poison oz and her best friend have been spreading about her.

and i just want to know how he made her believe that in one night. how he began to undo all the hurt she’s experienced her whole life to actually believe that not only she can be loved, but is. and yeah, i’m sure the whole choosing her and running off and subsequent dicking down helped, but this is elphaba. and she could have easily chalked that down to adrenaline, or fiyero’s impulsiveness (and i’m certain that’s where her brain went to first).

and maybe it’s because she always saw through fiyero. that’s the point. but somehow he got through. and damn, i wish we got to see it

literally ok so not a funny story but kind of funny? when I was nine I encountered rape in a book and I was like hey mom what’s this mean and she explained it and I was like oh. gross. and then like two weeks later a girl on the bus abruptly disclosed her csa and we were all like ????? what ???? but I was like wait hang on there’s a word for that ☝️🤓 and explained what it meant and that it was illegal and that you could talk to a teacher or my mom if it had happened to you and everyone was like ohhhhh I see I see and very somberly comforted the girl (she was safe she was removed from her home and living with my neighbor at the time so it wasn’t Urgent)
