Some time ago I broke the glass lens cover over the camera on my phone. I’m Back!!

Wow it’s been a long 3 years without a post to my Tumblr Blog.  And it hasn’t been entirely my fault.  Tumblr started to contain more and more adult content.  The struggle to have an educational blog was begining to show.  Fewer and fewer students and teachers were able to access Tumblr because content filters categorized Tumblr as “porn”.

Thankfully Tumblr changed their policy and starting Dec 17, 2018, they will no longer tollerate Adult Content.

I’m super happy about this because I like Tumblr the best as a platform for my blog.  In the 3 year interim, I’ve tried many others including Wordpress and none met my expectations.

So, I’m back and happy to start sharing again!

Here I am on Christmas day writing a blog post about having a positive work/life balance lol. But just as this article points out, I love my job and it doesn't really feel like work to me, unless I don't have the positive balance for improved productivity. It's not only work that suffers when you don't pay attention, it's the home life too. "Reducing stress increases your productivity and efficiency – and the way to do it is pretty much the same for everyone: get enough exercise, eat healthy, get enough rest, and get enough “down time” (whatever that may be for you)." Let's not confuse efficiency and technology use with the real goal of teaching. "There has been much debate on the use of laptops for note taking in classrooms. The pro side sees laptops as an efficient way of collecting and storing information. The con side sees laptops as an opportunity for distractions and multitasking. What's missing is an understanding of how taking notes by longhand influences the brain. Recent studies have shown that students taking notes with laptops performed worse on conceptual questions than the students taking notes by longhand. In short, they had the information on their computers, but did not have an understanding of that information in their brains."
