Rescue Sirens Aesthetic~
feel free to request Rescue Sirens-themed moodboards and such! I’d love to try my hand at it!
I’m thinking scenes and themes from the book, ex. “Maris’ hotel test” or “milkshakes at the Pirate’s Lagoon” or “the kiss of life.” characters and locations are fair game, too - really, anything that you can think of 🐚🐠
(if you haven’t read it yet, purchase the kindle edition here!)
Happy New Year, everyone! We hope that your 2017 is off to a fintastic start. We want to share something that’s really fun and exciting for us: Tumblr user @kataramov – she of the marvelous Kelby Cortez cosplay (1, 2) from SDCC 2016 – has started an unofficial (but incredibly awesome) “Rescue Sirens” aesthetic blog, @kelbycortez! These screengrabs (courtesy of @kataramov) show you just a tiny sampling of the beautifully curated photographs, artwork, video clips, GIFs, and moodboards being collected on @kelbycortez. What treasures, specifically, might you find on this blog? @kataramov explains it best:
right now, the blog is packed up with ocean imagery, mermaid stuff, and a touch of environmentalism. marine biology related posts (including aquariums) are tagged “bio.”
just so you know what to expect, the queue is currently loaded with some kitschy and pretty Miami Beach photos!
so, basically, follow this blog if you’re into any of the following:
• mermaids
• lifeguards
• sea life
• tropical beaches
• soft neon pastel (flamingos, palm tree lights, 90s retro)
• Art Deco architecture
• ocean and mermaid themed fashion/accessories
• Rescue Sirens!!
and thanks for checking it out! :)
Chris and I are so impressed, both by how much work goes into @kelbycortez as well as @kataramov‘s impeccable taste and wonderful feel for the world of “Rescue Sirens.” It is SO MUCH FUN to scroll through! Seeing the smallest details from “Rescue Sirens: The Search for the Atavist” realized visually is downright delightful – it brings the book to life in such a rich, dimensional way. You can even view posts dedicated to each Rescue Siren, organized by tag: Nim, Echo, Pippa, Maris, and, of course, Kelby Cortez herself.
Some of our favorite posts are Pippa’s “Florida witch aesthetic” and “aesthetic of the Black witch” (SO PERFECT), the recent photo of Echo looking like a boss with boxing gloves on, Kelby’s cross-country drive, Nim with a surfboard, Maris’s love of fashion and smoothies, all the delicious pastel-colored South Beach architecture, soothing GIFs of the ocean waves, stunning ocean life photography–okay, as you can tell, we’re absolutely loving this entire blog, and we want to pass the word on to other “Rescue Sirens” fans – plus fans of mermaids and the ocean in general – so you can enjoy it, too.
So please follow @kelbycortez, request those moodboards (we’re so stoked to see what she comes up with!), and bask in the relaxing amethyst glow of a Miami Beach sunset with the lifeguard mermaids of “Rescue Sirens” – right here on Tumblr.
