Septembeat 26
Second track today. Another one done in Drambo.
Septembeat 25
Instead of Tidalcycles, for this one I used Drambo on iOS. A lot less control but you can get pretty glitchy with it. Melody and harmony are a bit easier too.
Septembeat 24
Here’s my 24th track for Septembeat. This time the glitches are a little more subtle. There’s even a little bit of a melody! The Tidalcycles code: bpm 95 hush let thisscale = "dorian" let loop = stack [ db 0.6 $ s "supersaw*16" # n (scale thisscale (irand 10)) |- n 36 # sus 0.23, (11~>) $ sb 0.8 (fast 2) $ db 0.2 $ s "supersquare*8" # n (scale thisscale (irand 16)) |- n 0 # sus…
Septembeat 23
Some instrumental boom zap hip-hop in 3 Tidalcycles code: let swing = swingBy 0.05 6 let rip a = rev . stut a 0.2 (1/48) bpm 110 p "s" $ whenmod 8 7 (sb 0.5 (scramble 3)) $ whenmod 16 15 (sb 0.7 (scramble 6)) $ sb 0.2 (within (0.66,1) (bite 3 "{1}%3")) $ swing $ stack [ -- kicks (100~>) $ sb 0.03 (rip 9) $ st "[ t [t] [~~] [~] [t<~t>] [~t] ]" $ stack [s "kicks:103" # o 0, db "<1 0>/8" $…
Septembeat 22
I’m doing Septembeat by the numbers, not by the days. It’s the 26th now and this is the 22nd track I’ve made this month. Not too shabby! I might even do 30. Keeping the hip-hop + glitch theme, here’s another boom zap track. When I say boom zap I mean instrumental hip-hop with glitches and lasers and zaps etc. The name is a play on “boom bap,” one of the classic hip-hop styles. As usual, created…

Facebook doesn't like my blog
Seems like Facebook isn’t a fan of sharing links that go to my blog. Either that or it’s offended by boom zap.
Septembeat 21
Another boom zap jam. Comparatively laid back to some of my other recent tracks. Main loop made in Drambo, some acoustic drum sounds, and plenty of zaps and lasers. Sequenced in Tidalcycles. Here’s the Tidalcycles code: bpm 100 p "s" $ -- every 11 (within (0.25,0.75) (sb 0.5 (scramble 4))) $ swingBy 0.2 8 $ stack [ st "[t [~~~t] [t~] [<~~~t>~~~]]" $ s "zap:3" # shape 0.7 # begin 0.03 # speed…

Septembeat 20
Leaning hard into the boom-zap now. Sequenced and played in Tidalcycles, recorded into Reaper, and glitched out. I also took a section and imported it into the wonderfully weird Virtual ANS, which is a sort of spectral synthesizer/resynthesizer. You can basically treat sounds like drawings, which means erasing, rearranging, drawing more. It’s cool, check it out. It’s made by the same person who…
