a/n: here’s a little fall shorty, i’ve been struggling to find the motivation to write but with the fall weather back i had to try, and again it’s small but it’s better than nothing, enjoy!!
Charles should have known the minute the air got just a bit cooler that your shared home would be smelling like pumpkin pie, apple crumble and all things autumn. Charles should have known that marrying a woman who loved when the leaves changed colour from back in her home city of London, to the pumpkins around halloween that albeit only being August, it was now a fall wonderland in the house.
“chérie? a bit early for fall decor no?”
His voice was soft as he stopped by the living room where you were setting out your favourite candles on the coffee table
He had to admit it was adorable seeing you in an oversized wool sweater, enough that he walked right up to you and pulled you into his chest, a soft smile on his face.
“too early? never char, never too early for fall!”
“you are your best self in the fall you know that hmm?”
Your cheeks flushed as you looked up at him
“it’s my favourite season…”
“I know amour, but seeing you so happy makes me happy…even if it’s too early for fall”
Before you could argue he leant down and kissed you, effectively ensuring you forgot all about how he claimed it was ‘too early’ for autumn.
Despite his protests, the now very warm and charming feeling surrounding lower level of your home, as it always did, made him happy. Happy he chose the autumn and pumpkin loving girl all those years ago, because you’d never failed to make this home, feel truly and deeply like home.
Besides, Charles might complain about the ever so quickly changing seasons, but he’d never been one to decline one of your famous pumpkin spice lattes…

The house was quiet, it was another rainy day in London but the sound was almost enough to lull you to sleep along with little 3 week old Amelia Norris. The absolute apple of both yours and Lando’s eyes, she was the most special gift to your family.
Everyday around four in the afternoon Amelia would go down for another nap, though mostly all she did was eat and sleep, Lando never missed an afternoon nap time with his little angel.
Lando had been gone all day doing press and taking a few meetings with the team, and it was nearing four now, but you weren’t worried.
Lando never missed her afternoon nap.
Amelia was changed into a comfy onesie, her soft sleep pillow nestled in the middle of your king sized mattress. Though you didn’t co-sleep, these naps were an exception, mainly because you stayed awake and let the father daughter duo have their rest.
“I’m here! I made it!” came Lando’s voice softly as he came into the bedroom, a soft smile on his face seeing you just finishing putting her sleeper on.
“Perfect timing baby, as usual..”
Before picking up his little girl he came to you, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your lips, his hand rubbing up and down your back.
“How was today Lan?”
“Long, tiring and boring..just wanted to be here with my girls all day”
Smiling you handed him his sweatpants to change into
“Well now you’re here and can spend the rest of the day loving on us hmm?”
Lando couldn’t agree more, once he’d gotten rid of his dirty clothes from the day he pulled on his sweatpants and picked up the now sleeping Amelia.
“Hi my angel…daddy missed you so much”
Seeing the Brit cuddle her to his chest was enough to make you swoon, he was the best dad to her, so gentle and protective, a daddy’s girl she’d be there was no doubt about it.
Laying her softly down on her sleep pillow he pulled a little quilt over her before getting comfy on his side of the bed, one arm laying over the pillow, careful not to disturb the sleeping baby.
After getting into your own comfortable clothes you joined the two, of them in bed, leaning your back against the head board as you pulled your book from the bedside table. It was almost comical how quickly Lando could fall asleep, but it made you smile.
“Sleep well my loves…” your voice softly filled the space around you.
Lando had never missed a nap time, and he didn’t plan to anytime soon.
just had an amazing interview with a company in London and they loved me and want to bring me on, so within the next month they’ll be sending me any open positions they think i fit well and then proceed from there 🥹🩷

Race season was always taxing in many ways, one being the time you and Charles got to spend together when it came to your relationship. You didn’t really have the luxury of travelling to every race like others wags, especially not when you had sweet little Leo.
Leo had been to a few different race weekends but of course the noise and being without either of you, wasn’t the easiest nor safest place for the puppy.
“Snacks, drinks, towels…dog treats…can you think of anything else baby?”
Your voice called out to Charles as you checked over the bag that rested on the kitchen counter, Leo was waiting patiently, sitting at your feet.
“No I think that’s perfect mon amour”
Pressing a kiss to your cheek, he took the bags, leaving you to pick up Leo and hold him to your chest, taking his leash and one of is favourite toys.
Charles didn’t have to leave for Barcelona until Tuesday so this weekend was all about your little family, and what better way than to take out the yacht and enjoy the warm weather on the water.
“This was a good idea my love, we should do this more often..”
“I couldn’t agree more”
The boat rocked softly with the waves, Leo ripping apart the little dinosaur toy on the floor as Charles sat next to you, his arm sliding around your shoulders and tucking you into his side.
“Our little family…couldn’t get more perfect than this”
You couldn’t help but agree, there was no more perfect moment than right here, with the love of your life and your little baby Leo. Someday there’d come a ring, and many kids to fill your home with laughter and so much excitement.
“Someday, we’ll have little me’s and you’s running around on this boat Char…you ready for that?”
A small laugh spilled from his lips as she nodded his head, pulling your chin up to place a kiss to your lips
“With you? I’m ready for anything..”
It wouldn’t happen for a few years, but the thought of it made your hearts swell, the future would be full of endless possibilities, something the two of you were more than excited and ready for.
But for now, right here on the warm water, this was all both of you needed..
