In approximately 5 hours, The general plot for our Pilot will be complete! We now will start writing the dialogue. I wish I could convey in words the excitement I have about this. Almost two years now, building, plotting, developing characters, it all boils down to this. As most of you know, we chose to write the pilot last for this project. We have saved so much from the following 5 episodes, and have remained mindful for this unwritten episode. And now, its time. We move closer and closer to seeing this awesome story come to life. Before the Black Gate

Hello All,

Sorry It's been so long since I've posted, but It has not been in vein! First off, I'd like to point out the fact that we have been in California for over 6 months now! It's crazy how one day you're mixed up in all of the troubles of home and then the next, you are sleeping on an air mattress in the ghetto of Long Beach. It hasn't been perfect, but its been new and exciting and I wouldn't change it for the world.  For a brief moment in our lives, time is irrelevant and we're living each day, one day at a time.

On that note, may I present to you a completed Episode 5!

These are still very much in first draft form, but you can't rebuild what was never there in the first place! So our plan is to finish the season through it's halfway point, Episode 6, then go back and write the first Episode/Pilot.  We wanted to wait to write the Pilot in order the grow with our story and our characters.  We wanted to be the best possible people to write an amazing opening episode.  Most of the time, Agency's will only read 10 pages of your Pilot before they decide if they like it or not. So in the end it doesn't matter if you've written 11 pages or 12 episodes, you have the first 10 pages to seduce our potential agents and producers.  So yes, the route we took in deciding to write more than one Episode, before marketing a pilot, is extremely risky - in the sense that we would have then wasted our time. And in this business time is money - we get ONE SHOT.  We believe this way of going about it will set us apart in our capabilities as writers.  We won't be new to the story, or its outcome, when we write the first Episode...guaranteeing the best possible pilot we can write.

With that in mind, and looking forward passed a finished Episode 6 (Coming Soon), the next step would be our first MASSIVE pen & ink EDIT.  Where we rip apart all six episodes and throw them back into the fire.  Make sure every episode is enticing, funny, believable, suspenseful and most importantly...moving forward.  These first 6 episodes set the tone for, not only the rest of this season, but all 6 of the [planned] seasons - assuming we make it that far.

After that will be a collective table read, and a final edit...leading us right to where we want to be, and the best part so far...marketing.  This is where we begin to solicit our Copy-written Pilot for consideration.  Essentially...THE NETWORKING GAME.  This is the part where we attempt to sell our souls to Hollywood.

Like I said from the beginning...INTO THE MOUTH OF HELL WE MARCH, and right now we're staring at the Black Gate.

It took longer than expected, but we finally finished editing the dialogue for Episode 4. A lot went into this episode and there were a lot of important conversations that we had to worked through a few times. But, it is now ready to be screenplayed! We're one step closer. =}

Halfway Jitters

Hello Everyone,

I hope the Holidays are treating you well, I hear there was a heat wave on Christmas! It was almost the same temperature in California and at home...freaky.  Anyway, our Christmas was not a traditional one - to say the least. We decided we were going to celebrate the FIRST ANUAL "DipMas." It's simple, no presents, just a few close friends, bundled up in their PJs, watching movies and indulging in our Holiday Dips. I made a three layer, pulled chicken, buffalo chicken dip and Jacque made, not only a spinach and artichoke dip, but also a seven layer dip. It may not have been traditional, but we really enjoyed our California Christmas.

Also, to continue with the theme of "My family is only getting bigger," I have yet ANOTHER new baby cousin to introduce! Cameron Fillian, welcome to earth and the family. You're a cutie!

It is my pleasure to announce that we have finished EPISODE 3 of "C.G!" (Pic below). I wish I could explain the feeling I have, watching this story grow into what it is becoming. All of the subplots are getting more complicated and we have to be more careful with what we say and do, but when we do figure it out...it's unreal. I still can't get over how much this story has grown since inception. We are so proud of it and cannot wait until you all have the chance to view it...as it should be.

Episode 4 is not too far behind either. We have all of the dialogue written, so now it moves into the next stage of editing before we finally screenplay it.  We also started plotting Episode 5, which we are planning on making into a visual experiment. Episode 5 is going to be a big one, if we do it right. After that, we will have half of the season written! Jitters!!

I would also like to send my thoughts out to the Colbert and the Mansfield Families.  He was too young and he will be missed dearly. I only knew him for a brief period of time, but I knew he was a good person and someone really special. It is a tragedy and all of our hearts are with him and his family. He will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace.

Hello all!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I know it was a snowy one this year.  We had a nice little dinner at home and made it through all the Sun that was showering down on our holiday =).

I know in a previous post I mentioned that I had a new baby cousin and that the family is only getting bigger, but guess what? It's still growing.  I'd like to give a shout out to my OTHER new baby cousin, Norah.  Another McGinnis girl. It took a while, but now they're popping up everywhere. 

Last week I posted on Instagram stating that we had big news coming soon, which is still true; it just took a while for me to post it on here. 

I would like to present to all of you our FIRST completed Episode for "C.G." (Photo below). We are extremely proud of it and it has been a long time coming.  A year of plotting, and two months of dialogue hacking we finally have our story, our characters and the future's of both.  It's a beautiful thing.  The story we have created is compelling, relatable, dark, inspiring and just down right funny.  You think you know what people are saying...just you wait.  I can't wait until it finally becomes something visual; something special.

Episode three is right around the corner as well.  It took us two months to write episode 2, but episode 3 will be completed in less than two weeks.  We are finally in control of our characters and the direction we need to go in order for it to carry through all 6, anticipated, seasons. We are in this for the long haul, and we are loving every minute of it.

Phase 2 completed!

Hello All,

It is my pleasure to announce that all 3 of us are now employed!  We have finally reached a house-wide, triple income.  It only took 39 days, not that I was worried; but hey, a milestone is a milestone.  We are now permanent residents of California.

Also, I would like to announce that I have a new baby cousin!  Her name is Paige and she is beautiful.  The family just keeps getting bigger! =D

Now, for the reason why we are all here.  To finally turn Generation Knowhere into a physical entity within the entertainment industry. 

As most of you know, GK is a future writing enterprise that will hopefully, not only breach through multiple writing platforms, but also umbrella multiple genres simultaneously.  No world is always funny, scary, or serious, or any one specific form of existence.  Our writing, and the things we hope to produce will be created with this idea in mind.  Our audience will never know what's coming; but not because we tricked them.  Because real life itself is unpredictable.

The first TV show we are working on, which I will call "CG" for now, is currently in its drafting stages.  We have episodes 1-7 plotted in detail, with episode 1 and 2 half written with dialogue.  It is going to be a long road until the entire season is "Agent" ready, but when it is--it's going to be fire.

We also have a few other things in the works.  Such as a Novel, a new Full-Feature we plotted this summer and another Feature that has been sitting on the back burner since the night GK was born.  More on these as they develop further.

Miles Away.

To the friends and Family of Generation Knowhere,

My apologies for how long it has taken me to start this blog; I know I told a lot of you about it a while ago, even before we left NH.  But after 4 long days on the road and a few key stops, we made it safely to Long Beach, California on Thursday, September 14th 2014. 

We are officially residents of the 813.

It's hard to believe it has almost been a month since we left.  Since moving here we have discovered a few things.  The traffic is definitely terrible.  Unless you are driving between the hours of 11pm and 3am, the 405, the 710, 101-Hollywood, the 5, the 10, 91, the 605--ITS ALL BACKED UP!  So if you plan on visiting, bring some travel tunes, a Red Bull and some snacks.  Freeway party is the only way to sanely pass the time.  I always try to be the guy that is singing the loudest during the morning commute.

Another thing that we discovered is that the Metro (both bus and subway) are not as bad as people make it out to be, I have to give LA credit.  I think people are just nervous when it comes to public transportation; but for me, it makes life so much easier.  I can pick up the Blue Line train, which is 2 Blocks from our house and it'll take me directly to Downtown Los Angeles; which is only 6 blocks from my work.  TRAVEL WIN!

The Beach is Beautiful and Downtown LB is hopping on Friday and Saturday nights--Just ignore the police helicopter circling overhead.  It'll always be there.

Our apartment is coming along.  We have most of our furniture needs, with the final addition of a full sized fridge last week.  Pretty soon, it'll be a home.

Finally, we'd like to thank our friends and families who have supported us an helped us get to this point.  We are only growing stronger and we will make you all proud.  Thank you.
