There was that tiny flutter of her heart again, that incredible sensation that would originate in her chest and spread over her whole body - and one she associated with Chris and him alone. Waking up curled up to his side, knowing that she had him as a full body pillow, was one of the best feelings, and the best ways for her to sleep ever. Better than any weighted blanket, although she loved those dearly. After the first part of awards season was done and dusted, they had, a little reluctantly, left their children with Chris’s mother, and snuck away to one of those Caribbean islands, where they were surrounded by palm trees and white sand, and where they were left undisturbed and enjoying their days. The villa they had rented was amazing, and the architect nerd in her was rejoicing at the different styles, and the way it opened to the outside… With the large French windows open and the fan moving almost lazily above them, as well as her most beloved heat source called Chris, she felt like she was cocooned in the best, most comfortable of ways, and it took her a while to untangle herself from him, find her discarded sundress and pad into the bathroom and then the kitchen to finally start the day.
The scent of coffee suddenly surrounded her, alerting her to the pot being done, and she flared her nostrils and breathed in deeply - even the coffee was better than anything she had had before, and she loved her coffee! - before she filled two mugs, prepared them the way each liked best, and slowly made her way back. Instead of slipping back under the covers on her side of bed, she set down both mugs on the nightstand and climbed onto the bed to straddle Chris’s long legs. “Good morning, handsome,” she greeted him with a happy grin, as she picked up her mug and drank from it. “Sleep well?”
Chris spent most of his time -- as he had since meeting Soph -- unable to believe his luck. She was the kindest, bravest, smartest, funniest and gentlest woman he had ever met, on top of which she was devastatingly gorgeous. Holding her close as he fell asleep was one of the most peaceful thing he had ever experienced, the warmth of her body mingling with his as she fell asleep with her head resting on his chest. He loved if he could provide that sense of security and peace for her. Now here they were, in a beautiful Caribbean villa that hadn’t even seemed real as they were pulling up in the car. Now when he woke up the sound of coffee, the fan spinning lazily above him, he smiled sleepily and sat up.
He grinned as Sophia entered the room, reaching for her with a kiss before turning to his own mug. “Good morning,” he said, kissing her again with a grin on his face. “How could I not sleep well? In paradise with the most beautiful woman in the world, I have no complaints.” He smiled at her. “How about you?”
