Asus 4k monitor

Wow, Asus announce 4k monitor.  It's pretty expensive at £4,000 but what a fantastic display.  I guess use it on a retina MBP and you can drive it flat out.

Virginmedia TV Anywhere

Virginmedia are adding a further 8 channels to TV its TV anywhere streaming service, it looks like they include ITV and Viacom (MTV) channels.

LGZ Broadcast Technologies

Just came across the LGZ USB by the above guys.  Great little useful device allowing an HD-SDI signal to be captured and transcoded live to H.264 live and then copied onto 8 USB memory sticks.  

Great for live OB stuff or concerts etc.  On the website its €2100

Just had a tweet that Creative Video in the UK wer the victim of break in on 17/2/2012 and have lost around £1m worth of broadcast kit.  As you can see from the link if the equipment isn't recovered by the police it may end up on the open market so beware.

Back from Astana, Kazakhstan again.

Well i'm back from Astana again.  This was my third visit there working on the playout automation system for the Astana Media Centre.  The AMC is a brand new purpose built facility which as far as I understand is to bring Kazakhstan media under one common roof.  Their are extremely large studios, radio production facilities, video post production facilities and I'm told a large auditorium.

I've been going there since September and it's definitely coming along.  The equipment installed all looks to be first class so customers should enjoy good facilities and great reliability.
