Another concept turning 50 this year, the Ferrari 308GT Rainbow was designed at Bertone by Marcello Gandini. The boxy wedge-shaped prototype featured a folding targa top similar in design to the one used on the much more recent 458 Spider. Presented at the Turin Motor Show, it was based on the Gandini-designed Dino (later Ferrari) 308 GT4 with a shorter wheelbase and just two seats. Ferrari had already chosen Pininfarina to design the production 308 GTB, so the Rainbow was only ever going to be a one-off.

Especially for America, the early 1990’s MR2 is equipped with a 2.2-liter 5S-FE engine that was revised to 135 hp from November 1993. This Turbo version could reach 225 km (140 mph) and cover 0-60 mph in around 6.1 seconds.
