RICE RALLY 2014

Oh my oh my, 

I realised I forgot to write a post on RICE RALLY 2014! I realised it has become a tradition to write an annual RICE rally post as I was scrolling through my blog. I haven't been very active on this blog this year, a lot has been going on and I know that is no excuse, but more will be explained in the near future I hope! I'm about 2 months late, but I thought I could still write a post about this year's RICE event! 

The theme of this year was, 'Love, God' as if it were God writing a love letter to us. The speaker was Francis Chan and oh my was he hilarious. He was very good at relating to his audience (a big bunch of crazy asians) and inspired many tears of joy and laughter. The talk about responding to God's love was powerful, and the message that we need to respond NOW! God loves us and he wants us to respond to him.  

God our creator, gave us life. And as if that wasn't the greatest demonstration of his love, we went and screwed it up. Sin screwed it up. And God, because of his LOVE, sacrificed his only son so that we might live again - because he loves US, because he loves ME, because he loves YOU. To have a personal relationship with him is the only thing that can satisfy us completely. You can't find a perfect love anywhere else. You can try. But love that is found in God is the only source of love that you will ever need. 

I brought a friend to RICE this year, and I am very, very grateful that she walked out with me to see some leaders and ask more questions. She was challenged that night by God, along with many many other youths that were deeply challenged by the powerful message that the God of the universe, loved them! 

Thankyou God for taking care of all the leaders, all the youths that attended that night, and thankyou also for taking care of me. 

Amen.

KYCK 2014 THE NARROW ROAD

Hello to all of my lovely followers, 

On the 25th-27th of April, I attended KYCK 2014 with another 2000 youth to discover more about Jesus and to praise and worship him through wonderful songs. The theme was 'The Narrow Road' and based on the Sermon on the Mount. It was so much better than I expected, praise God for that! So many people were transformed by Jesus' love and many decided to accept Jesus as their saviour for the very first time. 

I couldn't be more thankful for such an event. I'm writing this the day after and am having serious withdrawal symptoms. I wish I was back there, celebrating Jesus with 2000 other brothers and sisters in Christ. I learnt a lot, and was also reminded of so much. 

The talks really spoke to me, especially being reminded of God's grace and how we can't forget that it is by God's grace that we can walk the narrow road. We have to stop trying to right our wrongs and focus on Jesus. Stop trying to win the approval of others. God is the only one who should be in our grandstand. Focus on GOD and his grace. 

Moreover, it is so easy to be Christian when you are surrounded by other loving brother and sisters in Christ. But what about when you're in a place where it isn't so easy to be Christian? You can't be a 'sometimes' Christian! Don't fall into the wide road, for that road leads to destruction. Fix your eyes on the goal! (Matthew 7:13 - Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.)

Some things I picked up from the talks and things I really need to remember include:

worrying is pointless! (Matthew 6: 27 - Can anyone of you by worrying add a single day to your life? ) 

it's all about God's grace, not anything that we do because we don't even deserve Jesus

obedience without forgiveness is useless, but forgiveness without obedience is imcomplete - hear God's word and then DO IT!

with God...you will not fall  

P.S the band that played was called 'City Alight' and believe me, they were amazing!

Japan 2013

Japan was so much different to what I expected it to be, but nonetheless the experience was unforgettable! A custom I definitely won't forget is how polite and respectful everyone is. Instead of the 'sup nod', they do a small 'head bow'. Everyone was so friendly and polite, I miss Japan so much! The cities that we visited included:

Rice Rally 2013: Freedom

This is my second year at Rice Rally and it most definitely did not disappoint. It was one of the best nights of my life, just like Rice Rally 2012 was. The core of the night was to celebrate the freedom that Christians find in Jesus. "Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

This event is life changing, that night, Jesus melted the hearts of hundreds of youth including myself, I left the place with a renewed heart to help others seek freedom. I felt incredibly blessed, to share the night with 2000 other youth that came with open hearts to let the love of Jesus and the joy that he brings to find us. 

Doing whatever you want isn't freedom! Does a fish really have freedom on land? A fish has the most freedom when it is in water. We are most free, when we do what we are created to do. That is to live with Jesus as king, to accept him as saviour, to believe that he is capable of anything, to know that he is a friend that will never forsake us because he loves us. Jesus set us free!

Stop living as a slave to sin! Live in freedom!

40 Hour Famine

Hi sugarplums! How's things? I am participating in the World Vision 40 hour famine this year and giving up food + my bed! All the money raised goes to help fight world poverty, this year to help families in Malawi who live on less than 50 cents a day.

I've started the famine and I am so unbelievably hungry right now. I'm feeling a little dizzy and nauseous and extremely weak and tired. It's painful because I see all this food around me, but knowing that millions of kids have to go through this everyday is keeping me going!
