Hi, I was wondering if there was any chance you could add an alternative download link for your Sims 2 lot skirt shader mod? Unfortunately boosty doesn't work for me at all (the site does not load, with or without a VPN) and I know there are other people who have the same issue with that site! [TS2] Improved Lot Skirt Shader (WIP)

Overview

Hi everyone! This is an experimental (WIP) mod that makes lot skirts in TS2 looking like neighborhood terrain. TSCS inspired me to create this mod; as far as you remember, TSCS has visible neighborhood decals from lot view. It is set in assembly code so that TSCS lot skirts use neighborhood techniques for mapping. Original TS2 doesn't have such functionality. LD attempted to immitate that via fake neighborhood deco but it was created for particular terrains only. So I decided to attempt editing lot skirt shader and got some results; it adds cliffs, rough and meduim stages and improves shores from lot view! Though it is not perfect as it has some misconsistency with lighting (original lot skirts also do) and doesn't repeat the neighborhood terrain mapping but I think it's more practical than neighborhood deco. Hope you like it!

Features

Adds neighborhood decals (cliffs, rough and medium terrain) to lot skirts. Decals are also visible with snow states. No blue snow fix and sky fix are included. Works for every neighborhood automatically. Supports lighting mods (dusk and dawn states). Looks better with default replacements.

Installation

Put the .package file into your Downloads folder.

Compatibility

Incompatible with shader mods that modify lot skirts so rename the file adding "zzzz" prefix to make it load last to prevent conflicts if you use many shader mods. Doesn't conflict with other no blue snow mods that modify the rest shaders (roofs, lot terrain).

Known Issues

May look weird in dusk and dawn states using some lighting mods (still have no idea how to fix that). Seam between lot skirt and lot terrain (original TS2 lacks lot edge blend technique like in TSCS to make smooth transition between lot terrain and lot skirt). Lot imposter terrain paint may be invisible sometimes for unknown causes.

Terrain Types

Recently it has been discovered that it's possible to create new terrain types. My shader contains standard terrain types (temperate, desert, dirt and concrete) and uses dependence of textures on lot texture so if you add custom terrain types it's required for my shader to have added such dependencies otherwise my shader will look buggy for your custom terrain types (you are free to contact with me for more detailed information). Hi there ^^ Testing your ASI plugins that struggle with pink soup and they solved it for me, as I have 40+ GB CC. That's awesome job! Looks like you dive deeply into TS2 assembly code so I wanna ask something. Are you interested in investigating reflections in The Sims 2 and The Sims Castaway Stories? Seems they have different properties so reflections in TSCS work well without any hand like pool tiles. It would be a nice mod that would implement reflection rendering in TS2 from TSCS.

I have been looking into this for the past couple of weeks and I've started to make some actual progress with it, so I thought I'd give an update :0

The reason Castaway's water look so nice is that it uses the screenspace reflections used by mirrors. Sims 2's oceans use a separate effect called "OceanReflection", but Castaway removed this completely.

I've managed to map this reflection effect to the water in Sims 2 and allowed the game to reflect all of the scenery, as opposed to only the terrain and a few objects, just like Castaway:

Unfortunately, it's still quite buggy :(

Because mirrors are not expecting to use the same reflections as the ocean in Sims 2, they're kind of broken:

(The pond reflections don't require a pool btw, this was just the best lot to demonstrate the bug).

Castaway completely overhauled the water generation and rendering, so water is composed of 8x8 grids with fancy dynamic waves, rather than being one flat plane as in TS2. It's not really feasible to port this functionality through patching, but I'm going to try and figure out how tf to get these reflection bugs fixed as best I can.

My guess is it's something to do with the reflection cameras/image projection, but I can't see any obvious differences between TS2's and Castaway's code there.

Hi! Good job! I also tried to disable visibility filters in OceanReflection but neighborhood plants weren't rendered on long distances. So far, I decided to try using render target ScreenReflection like in TSCS. And it works well BUT it requires an additional reflective plane with inverted normals. I used murano's reflective floor, upscaled it and inverted its normals. Combining the shader with ScreenReflection (instead of PoolReflection or OceanReflection) and that plane it got rendered really well. And in the end - it makes ScreenReflection to work well but requires placing that plane on the lot. I believe that TSCS has the same (or quite similar) logic - its planes of pond and ocean have additional reflective plane that is invisible or with inverted normals. But it is generated along with the ocean/pond geometry as well. Looks like if we add the same logic to original game we can get clear reflections like TSCS. I mean, we need an ASI plugin that does such: TS2 must create a reflective plane (invisible or with inverted normals) along with ocean and pond (and pool) geometries. *offtop i'm so sorry* I'm in progress with a mod that makes lot skirts looking like a neighborhood terrain but it doesn't behave the same way as neighborhood (because I just made a vertex-pixel shader mod). I looked at the code of TSCS and found out that TSCS lot skirts use neighborhood techniques for mapping. Maybe you would be interested in that too.

[TS2] Huge Lots Mod (120x120) UPDATE

Overview

Hey! As many of you know, about 4 years ago Lazyduchess released a mod for The Sims 2 that increases lot size limit from default 60x60 to 120x120. It is an amazing work, despite some issues that arise with this mod installed. Personally I wanted to play with this mod sooooo much but broken imposters made me avoid using it. Spent lot of time, I finally managed to fix the imposters at least. Snow next maybe??

Installation

It is completely the same as original, so go to LD's page for details (but you can ignore sticking to the classic lot imposter quality setting) and then download my fix and replace LD's ASI file with mine.

Improvements

Fixed multistory lots tile mapping. Added support for all lot imposter quality settings (so that it's possible to use this mod with higher lot imposter quality settings rather than classic one).

Known Issues
