TPC stands for Three-dimensional Pattern Cutting
Had a chance to meet the director of TPC, Professor Alexandre Kung during my short visit to Hong Kong. I talked about my work and he then showed me what his company does. He asked his staff to do a 3D scan of me and voilà, my first 3D avatar was born. Once there’s a 3D avatar, garments can be drawn directly on top of it. a 2D pattern is also simultaneously being generated. It was definitely an eye-opening.

The Chromat Spring/Summer 2016: MOMENTUM Collection is inspired by the idea that clothing, like architecture, should respond and adapt to the wearer. Chromat
Chromat has also developed our first sportswear prototype built with Intel technology: the Chromat Aeros Sports Bra powered by Intel, inspired by wind, air and flight. The Chromat Aeros Sports Bra leverages shape memory alloy to open vents to cool down the body when it senses heat and sweat. With integration of the Intel Curie module, the sports bra can intuitively respond to perspiration, respiration and body temperature. This responsive clothing enables the wearer to break through barriers such as overheating to achieve peak performance.
"If anyone could pull it off, it would be you" is not the most affirmative compliment.
Those workout pants sound interesting. The visibility jacket is great for outdoor activities at night.
Not only can you set your favorite color, the lights pulse with the beat of music.
More on LED clothing.

Wearable Technology
Had a tutorial with Lucie Hernandez before ISPO on wearable technology. While it may not be feasible for this project, I think it’s definitely worth thinking about. A few things that came to mind that can potentially improve “performance”:
- player name and number printing, no matter how thin, affects the breathability of the shirt. however, maybe it is something that can be added on in post-production in the TV studio. Maybe the shirt can have a QR-like-code that is printed on the back of the shirt to allow the camera to recognise the player and overlay the relevant info for the TV audience. As for the referees and live audience, VR headsets?
- I remember reading an article about LED advertising on shirts. If LED screen technology can be made thin and breathable, that could work and sponsors can work with teams to advertise different products whenever the team plays.
