“You want her? Go get her.”
“So he did.“
It’s fucking insane how this is an actual quote from “A Storm of Swords” Martin killed it when he wrote that. This is peak romance
red and gold.
full version (nsfw)
love is a dream you enter
Reading Jaime x Brienne again and thinking about how Jaime had done all the typical “romantic highlights” of historical romance heroes for Brienne:
Risked his life to save hers? Yes.
Gift-giving of the highest order? Yes
Defending her in public? Yes.
Recognizing and loving her for who she is? Yes (the lady / knight duality).
Secret sharing and confession of the past? Yes.
Cementing their connection in writing, in one of the most important historical documents for knights? Yes.
Facing a moment of choice between his past lover and the present? Indirectly, yes (as he left with Brienne and chose to not return to Cersei).
My man speed ran the entire romantic arc without even realizing he is in love.
A lawless lynch mob.
Abolish ICE is the moderate position.
Frustrated Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers fled a Minnesota neighborhood after residents alerted each other by triggering car a
Basically, people are using their key fobs to set off their car alarms when they see ICE.
This is effective for several reasons:
Obviously, it alerts everyone that something is wrong. Given ICE has been terrorizing Minnesota, people are likely to immediately know it is ICE. This gives people time to flee or barricade themselves in their homes.
ICE loses the element of surprise.
If one person hears a car alarm go off, they can trigger their own alarm, alerting even more people, but also making it really annoying for ICE. Annoying sounds petty, but it can be effective. Have you ever been in a building when a super loud fire alarm went off? It's very hard to concentrate. You can't hear much else. You just want to leave. ICE experiences this when a whole street if car alarms go off. Which means they make mistakes.
This was how we were alerted to ICE attempting to gain access to our apartment building. This 100% works.
Share this, please. Do not be fooled by ICE’s administrative warrants. They are NOT a legal basis for a search or to enter your home or business. For that, ICE must present a JUDICIAL WARRANT.
The difference is shown below. Study it.
It’s always fun to see Jaime’s comments on Tyrion’s gallantry, especially since he made them to Brienne. Jaime’s last fit of gallantry cost him his right hand, what would the next bout of gallantry (re Lady Stoneheart) cost him?
do you ever think about jaime and brienne and their swords and their symbolism.
like, everyone knows the heartfelt meaning of oathkeeper. but we don't talk much about the fact that it is made from ice, ned's sword. the sword of the first person who judged jaime, melted down, transformed and changed (much like jaime himself) and giving it to the first person who truly accepted him.
also the fact that even in death, ned's memory remains divided, oathkeeper being used by brienne to protect ned's family; catelyn and her children, particularly his daughters (who he loved with his entire heart and soul) and the other being used (not really) by joffrey, a horrible king..... it really reflects the extreme love ned had for his family and the north, and his trouble with balancing it with his love for robert and loyalty to the 7 kingdoms...
even in death, ned continues to remain divided between love and duty, and i think that is a beautiful detail
The greatest trick GRRM ever pulled was using a single act in the beginning of book one to convince the reader that Jaime Lannister, the biggest procrastinator this side of Rhaegar Targaryen, is impulsive.
Even defenestrating Bran isn’t truly impulsive. A quick decision, sure, but an impulsive act is one that is performed in a moment when it could’ve been delayed until further consideration could be given. So, a bad choice? Sure. But it isn’t like he could’ve put off killing the kid until later on.
Same with everything else he does. Going back for Brienne? A considered choice performed within the available time limit. Leaping into the bear pit? Same.
This is a man who spent fifteen years knowing Robert was abusive, yet did nothing to stop him. True, Cersei asked him not to…but wouldn’t an impulsive man have done it anyway? Sometime over those fifteen years? A man who even as a teenage boy waited well over a year, until the last second, to kill Aerys…and even changed clothes to do it. A man who waited until the last possible second to bust Tyrion out. A man who hangs around King’s Landing pretty much watching the Kettleblacks humping Cersei’s leg and does nothing. Who finally gets Lancel, the “other man,” alone, and instead of attacking him listens and counsels and tries to get him to eat something and encourages him to get out there and live his life.
Now Cersei? She is impulsive. Falyse and Mr Falyse, go kill Bronn for me. Oh no, Qyburn, here’s Falyse for your vivisection needs. Oh hey Qyburn send Falyse back I have use for her. This pattern - decisions made in the moment based upon whims that she forgets she even made at all and then when the whim turns out to have been a massive fuckup she covers up with even more impulsive bad moves - repeats for her. But Jaime is not this way. This is yet another of the million ways Jaime and Cersei - who are truly nothing alike - differ.
The only truly impulsive act I can remember seeing from Jaime Lannister? That one time he busted Red Ronnet Connington upside the head for trash talking Brienne. The Golden Bitchslap was performed without thought or planning and did not have to happen.
But other than that? Nah. This man is not impulsive. And to be fair, though he waits until the last second, unlike Rhaegar, he does know when the last second is.

Jaime calling Brienne “my lady of Tarth” in front of others gets me every time. Not “the lady of Tarth”, not “Lady Brienne”, but “my lady of Tarth”. Later he doesn’t deny Qyburn’s half joking claim of “your maid of Tarth” either. The possessiveness, hmm. No wonder he’s shocked Brienne hasn’t briefed him on her betrothals when Connington told him about it.

I commissioned @/sunstar.writing over on Instagram to write me a short letter written by Jaime for Brienne (I didn't give sunny any concrete directions so its technically a surprise letter in a way), enjoy! :3 I really enjoyed it and it's giving drunk Jaime pouring his guts out, until he realizes how "cringe" it sounds and deletes it from existence
„he wrote in an awkward hand that might have done credit to a six-year-old being taught his first letters by a maester” Jaime IX
Here's the letter (for those who struggle to read the handwriting)
Brienne,
In truth, I am a fool for writing this.
Rest assured, this parchment shall not
lay in your hand; the first and last thing it
will see is my face, bequeathed with its
solemn suffering, before burning within
the hearth.
I have a place no other than this for my
thoughts. They run rampant, they do; they
center you, like the blasted witch you are.
Always. Incessantly; like it were a spell,
binding me to you.
Kingslayer. A gnarly word for a gnarly man,
and just like you are no man, the merit of
your name weighs heavier still than the
treatment it had garnered. I had thought,
in my ache, for that name to define me
whole. It is all I was; Oathbreaker,
Kingslayer - prisoner, wretch, failure. I
had thought it is all I could measure
to be, now; I did not speak it, I will never
speak it, but I had thought it. And here
you are, my kin, in that sense - one
Kingslayer to another, and yet, you are
none of those things.
You are good. You are good, and you do not
know it. I find myself in comparison to
you, my besodden equal, and I am rife with
anger. There is an even ground between us,
but you are there, up high.
I do not know whether I could ever reach
you. But something in me wishes to try.
Jaime
jaime really said i could make her worse and then started fixing himself. character of all time
