Some highlights of the teams:
Details from back at tryouts last year:
Hundreds of women will flock to Washington on Friday to take their first swings at turning pro baseball dreams into reality.
Kelsie Whitmore of Savannah Bananas fame (first woman to play) will be playing for San Francisco. She was the first round first pick in the 2025 draft.
Danae Benites of the Loco Beach Coconuts will be playing for New York
There are 15 players over 30
The draft pulled players from a variety of countries:
Outside the US we have Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, France, Venezuela, UK, and while it is under US occupation I wanna highlight it on its own: Puerto Rico.

From Commissioner Justine Siegal PhD:
"Across the USA and around the world, women have always played baseball. From backyard games with older siblings, to rec leagues across the country, women have found ways to play the sport they love. Baseball is Americaās pastime, but the professional game hasnāt evolved to reflect the diversity of those who play, watch and love this sport. Thatās about to change. A long time dream is coming into focus: a professional womenās baseball league for a new generation. The Womenās Pro Baseball League is here. Weāre creating a stage where elite womenās baseball players have a place to shine, and establishing a pipeline for every girl who dreams of competing at the highest level one day. A league of their own, for the first time since the AAGPBL of the 1940s. This league is just one part of a larger cultural shift. Women in sports are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Weāre at the beginning of a new chapter and itās time for our athletes to write their story.Ā
What started as an idea is now a reality. Weāre less than five months away from the WPBLās opening day on August 1st, 2026 and already so much has happened. The world has taken notice of what weāre doing, and hundreds of thousands of people have tuned in to follow along. People just like you. Thank you for supporting this league. For supporting women in baseball. Youāre a part of this. A part of history. The next chapter begins this August. We hope youāll join us in making history."
Games will be aired on various streaming platforms and most importantly, the league's youtube channel.

On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.
hey bestie i think ur post might be charmed 'cause you aren't gonna fuckin believe what happened today
it's crazy 2 me that every time i'm like "the existence of bugs is vital to the very fabric of reality as we know it. if we do not prioritize protect & value bugs, if we lose bugs, the entire world goes with them"
people in the comments will be like "okay but we could at least get rid of ticks and mosquitos because those spread disease."
we actually CANNOT get rid of ticks and mosquitos. not only do we plain lack the technology to lead a pointed extermination effort against them specifically without taking a score of other species down with them, but if we developed that technology and did eradicate mosquitos and ticks, it would be the catalyst of utter ecological collapse the likes of which i think people are not quite comprehending.
the problem is not the existence of bugs. the problem is that our current global systems ensure that specific Peoples in specific places are disproportionately impacted by zoonoses (illness spread between animals and humans).
those same populations also disproportionately lack access to preventative tools & PPE (down to things many of us take for granted so simply as effective bug spray), and crucially access to medical treatment.
the goal should not be an eradicating effort against bugs which would quite literally collapse entire ecosystems, but equitable access to healthcare, investment in medical research to improve preventative and acute treatment for zoonoses, and the destruction of systems which are currently rapidly increasing the threat of zoonoses worldwide (climate change!)
i am not defending the existence of bugs because i think they're cute and because i don't care about the devastating suffering zoonoses cause millions and millions of people.
the point is that the eradication of these species would likewise cause devastation and suffering, but the tools, the money, the minds, the research, the science ALL exist to actually change the world for the better through global public health systems, but it's all being strangulated by imperial fucking systems which have been and continue to destroy everything!
Watched a documentary about abuse and advice one guy said to give children was, "Tell them that if someone is hurting them, to tell someone - and don't just tell one person. Tell as many people as possible, and keep telling as many people as possible until the abuse stops." and i really liked that
Bc so many ppl focus on the idea of telling A Trusted Adult, but even a well-meaning individual can fuck up and let abuse fall through the cracks or not know what to do
Whereas if a child tells LOADS of adults AND other kids, there's far less opportunity for an abuser to do damage control
Consistently telling their story and spreading it around disempowers the abuser to control and coerce the flow of information, or to utilise gaps and weaknesses in systems of reporting or welfare to isolate the child
Just really good advice. Not suprised I don't hear it more often.
btw i live on nailpolish reddit nowadays
and everyone is posting their 4th of july manis
except this year its very few american flags and red white and blue and stars.
and a LOT of pond scum inspiration
This is an absolutely FASCINATING cultural snapshot.
With a heavy heart, I come to you all with the news announced by close friends of Cat Frazier that she had passed away on Monday, June 29.
She had been running @animatedtext since 2012, with her impact on the internet SHAPING tumblr. If you have a years long history on this site, youāve seen her art.
She ran a venue in Oakland called Oakland Secret, a punk venue where Iād vend at regularly as an artist. She made a safe space for queer artists, artists of color, and local furs too. I am forever grateful for her work both in the Bay Area creative scene and online, and am forever changed by the totality of her impact.
Iāll be linking some articles from the 2010ās about her impact online: The Fader | Action | Jezebel | ObviouslySocial
I invite you to take a visit through her archive, and if you have a long history with this site like I do, itās like walking down memory lane. (open link in browser)
will you guys cancel me if i say that queer tragedy has a place in the creative arts and shouldnāt immediately be dismissed as bury your gays
adding @glorious-spoon 's astute tags:
#bury your gays and women in refrigerators and the black guy dies first are all about treating marginalized people like props#to further the story of the (white straight male) protagonist#that's not the same thing as a tragedy! some stories are tragedies! whose story has weight and meaning - that's the question
HAPPY FOURTH OF FUCKING JULY
An update on PuckCurl!, a project by PWHL Detroit fans in response to the Curl signing, due to a lawyers recommendation the name has been changed to PuckHate!
The message and everything is still the same as it was before, the name change to just to help avoid any legal issues as well as leaves room for people to donate to charities in response to any player, not just Curl.

before we start posting that july is gay wrath month letās consider that july is disability pride month first and foremost. the ābe gay do crimesā memes can wait
before this post breaches containment and people start going āwhy not both heheheā i want you to seriously consider the very long history of disabled peopleās existence being pushed aside and/or seen as secondary. i promise you itās not going to hurt to hold onto the memes and give disabled people space for visibility and celebration.
i say this as a disabled trans person whose trans identity is made front-and-center to the (mainly cis) people who know iām trans but my identity as a disabled person is brushed off by the very same people.
