"For an entire generation of young millennials, Neutral Milk Hotel’s In The Aeroplane Over The Seawas the first introduction to a brave new world. To this day, the album is a relevant and important rite of passage; like a first kiss, you never forget where you were or the person who gave it to you. For me, it was a middle school hallway, and the gift of a CD mixtape gift that included “Holland, 1945.” Unfortunately, I’ve since lost touch with the friend who helped usher me into Neutral Milk Hotel’s surreal world of sadness, grief, happiness and unbridled joy, but I am still eternally grateful. I can’t imagine a life devoid of the album’s many evocative, conflicting pleasures, and I’m definitely not alone." Elated to have an opportunity to re-hash with one of my favorite bands from the 90s later next month. xo
