the problem with ibuki joining akatsuki is not that he got into an established unit, it's not even keito's talks about how akatsuki are "always three, connected by a bond deeper than blood" it is the fact that happy elements is doing a Japanese Imperalism again. they could've picked any other new kid to join a traditional japanese unit, but they had to go for an indigenous kid who is proud of his ancestry? miss me with that shit. this is an insanely racist choice on their part, and it feels so premeditated from the start that it makes me sick to my stomach. between this, the treatment of amagis and the treatment of adonis, who have always been victims of racist jokes and racist tropes used for cheap laughs, i don't even know what to say. enstars fucked up BIG time, and you should care about this even if you don't care about akatsuki because, again, the problem is NOT about akatsuki

listen i was the biggest fan of impidimp but some of you have to recognize that its evolutions are Literally antisemitic and you need to listen to jewish people when they say something is antisemitic.

it’s very obviously supposed to be a goblin, which are constantly routed in antisemitism, and it has green skin. that’s a huge red flag and i see hardly anyone mention this. on top of all of that, it has a very specific nose and dark hair. these are… also anti-semitic caricatures and i don’t need to explain why, google is free.

i was excited for impidimp because imps have a fun role in english folklore and i was expecting it to evolve into a gargoyle quite honestly but gamefreak you messed up big time (and they have a cool history of doing this with other caricatures).

before someone tells me “it’s an oni” i’m japanese and jewish. i know what an oni is. i mistook it for an oni at first too i’m being honest here, but it doesn’t take many brain cells to see something with green skin and realize it’s antisemitic. also why would there be an oni pokemon in a region based off of england. genuinely wondering here.

also, just to add this point, because i’ve seen it mentioned once but i also noticed it. grimmsnarl’s name itself is most likely based off the grimm brothers. if you don’t know why this is bad, the grimm fairy tales had some antisemitic references in them (tw for incest and child abuse, as well antisemitism), and the grimm brothers themselves were quite honestly not the best. here’s another link, this particular story (tw: antisemitism) has its own wikipedia page if that’s any indication that it’s fact.

again, i’m not telling you what to do or not to do in your sword and shield game for the nintendo switch, but. gamefreak should not of thrown all these references into one pokemon, it’s not pretty.
