hello :)) my apologies if this is something you don't know anything about, but have you ever used the plastic doll armature for any of your projects?
i've been trying to make a creature with this but for the life of me i can't get anything to stick to the plastic and hold on. i'm using sturdy wire for the limbs of my creature but they don't stay still or attached to the "spine" (plastic armature) lol.
if you don't know anything about this feel free to ignore this 🫶 you're the only doll person i know of who will reply to questions :P hope you're having a wonderful day or evening
talking about this bad boy ⬇️
I have not used plastic armature, but how I think I'd do it- take two (or more) lengths of wire, (or one really long length folded in half- you get the idea) put them on either side of the skinny part of a segment, and twist either end so that the plastic spine is perpendicular with the wire limbs- it might spin a bit, but once you get a covering over the top, it should keep it all in place! If needed, use a softer and smaller gauge wire to wrap it up even more right at the spine. Good luck!
I had success with drilling holes into the end segments to feed stabilizing wires into it and sculpting apoxie around it. no pictures of the hands or face in progress, but this is what my esquie doll is built around!
Bonjour, mes amis!
this is what I've been working on lately. handmade art doll of esquie from Clair obscur: expedition 33!
hands and face are sculpted from apoxie sculpt; silk ish fabric with hand drawn patterns.
knit pin pennant inspired by these kick-ass mushroom pins from @gawki :)
freehanded loosely off a chart; random scrap fabric, tree branch, acrylic yarn
jester costume!! handmade by me :○) the stars on the hat tips have squeakers!
made with thrifted men's dress shirts mostly, some scrap fabric, lace, bells
(counting this as a clown costume tho it's closer to jester)
knit stardew valley bag!
never posted these -- tot a bit embarrassed w it bc i blocked them by ironing w steam and i hate the way it made the duplicate stitches look, AND it also put some rust stains on it
freehand knitting, acrylic yarn, random stash fabric
