Floxes
For those who might happen upon this from Snowysaur’s post, I highly recommend reading the [Introduction] first to fill you in with some of the terms I use here. It’s fairly short compared to my other posts. I tend to use more and more terms with the more posts I write, so my recommendation (if you’re interested in reading more) would be to read the posts in the order I created them.
(This is a long post, so I’ve opted to use a read-more thingy to keep it neat. And plan to add it to some other posts now that I know how to make it!) (And to address the long period of time since the last post, I’ve been hard at work with Full Burn, the next book in the Dragon Drive series. SO MUCH STUFF GOES ON AND I’M EXCITED.)
Monsters
Scientifically speaking, Monsters are defined as creatures with an inborn affinity for Ux. While some might not be much different from animals, that aspect allows for the separation. For some, this affinity arises as a unique kind of Ux: a Pseudo Type. So named because their Ux cannot create Krux. As Monsters have a vast variety of appearances, abilities, and physiology, I’ll use a single Monster species to give an idea of what to expect; Floxes in particular.
Geology of Arkrux
The planet of Arkrux has extremes unseen on other planets that support life, due to both the Great Wars and the innate abundance of Ux that permeates the planet.
Great Wars
The Great Wars were five centuries of constant war that ended with the Dragon’s Massacre, a brutal counter by the then Mythical Monsters when the wars spread to their domain. The Massacre was ruthless, wiping entire countries off the map and vaporizing capitals. In a span of three days, cities of millions were reduced to mere thousands. Humans and Monsters alike were forced to work together to survive on the little that remained. Through long-lived Monsters like Pendragons, word-of-mouth, and what documentation survived, the Great Wars and how they were fought could be accurately described.
An aside:
Since I might as well link it, I do in fact have a book out. The ebook/PDF is the same as the print on there, but I can’t actually have the print one be free. It’s where Arkrux started, and got out of hand. Rapidly. It’s primarily action, with actually less of the technobabble I’ve already shared here. I’ve since realized something of a comic or visual novel would better suit my style, but I already have 4 rough drafts out of 5, so why not finish that, eh? It’s impossible to not have any kind of personal nitpicks with it, but I’m still proud and just want to share it where I can.
Krux and Kruxsetting (General)
Note: It’s best to read the general on [Ux and Ux Types], first.

Ux and Ux Types (General)
The following is a general summary of Ux before the creation of the Dragon Drive and a second renaissance of technological development and understanding. The more complex subjects will be addressed in greater detail with a future post.
An Introduction
As a whole, Arkrux is a planet much like Earth. (The name “Arkrux” refers to the planet foremost, but will be applied to the universe as well as a catch-all.) It has animals, plants, fungi, and so on. There is, however, a significant difference in the universe itself that allows for more interesting flora and fauna. Ux, a seemingly magical energy with many Types, is abundant and brought about a new classification of intelligent creatures known simply as Monsters. Humans, animals, and Monsters are separated into three groups based on the Monsters innate use of Ux, humans as the only animals known who can use Ux, and the mundane animals with no aptitude at all. When Ux is concentrated enough, it can crystallize and form Krux, still maintaining its original properties depending on a range of variables from Type to density and even shape and color. It is in this form that humans first utilized Ux on their own in tools and primitive methods of direct use via Ux Alchemy until humans gained the capability to use Ux directly as Monsters did. Later iterations of use include weapons, vehicles, computers, and so on. The process of creating and maintaining said technology with Krux is known as Kruxsetting. Now as this is merely meant as an introduction, there’s no need for me to delve too deep into any one subject. I’ll make a short list of what I’ve mentioned here and link to near-future posts when I go about writing those.
I welcome any and all questions, but do keep in mind some things are spoilers for what I’m working on now and plan to in the future, and/or will naturally be addressed in future posts.
