i bet it feels good as fuck to intend to do something and then actually do it
French-Iranian author and illustrator Marjane Satrapi, best known for the book and film “Persopolis”, has died of "sadness", members of her
This one hurt, her work had such a profound effect on my life, thoughts, and politics.
May her memory be a blessing
The Odyssey but retold as a low-stakes modern adventure of one guy out with his girlfriend leaving the bar with his buddies to do just one (1) simple thing real quick, it'll take like 15 minutes tops, he'll be right back, but then some bullshit happens and the trip keeps getting more complicated as more bullshit keeps happening while he just tries to get back to the bar because he promised his girlfriend that he'd get back and he knows that she's still there because she told him she'd wait there.
And by the time he finally gets back it's almost 3 am and the bar is about to close while she's sitting there stone cold sober, surrounded by 5 drunk guys unsuccessfully trying to convince her to give up on waiting for him and go home with one of them instead. And the guy shows up to proceed to beat the shit out of them before explaining himself to her like hey sorry bullshit kept happening, my phone fell into a storm drain and my wallet got stolen when I was trying to find someone who'd borrow me a phone so I could call and
His girlfriend had been fending off the 5 drunk guys for most of the evening by explaining that even if she was going to ditch her boyfriend, she can't possibly leave without finishing her beer, which she is keeping perpetually full via careful sleight of hand where she's just pouring it back and forth into and out of the pitcher.
However the drunk guys are also drinking, and eventually she can't afford to buy another pitcher for the table so she can't keep up the ever-full beer glass trick. At this point she has to resort to setting up the pool trick shot that she's never seen anyone but her boyfriend pull off, and says she'll leave with whoever manages the shot first.
That buys her another hour or so and then, finally, her boyfriend makes it back. He looks like shit, hair down and just a mess, he's wearing an entirely different jacket that he got from an alley, and barely recognizable—especially to 5 guys who've been drunk for hours now. He lurks for a minute, finds out what's going on, and proceeds to pull off the trick shot first try. Throws the jacket off, fixes his hair with a hair tie his girlfriend lends him, finally looks like himself again, and THEN beats the shit out of them with the pool cue.
there should be a cool, chill way to say things like “I’m struggling” or “I’m having a hard time” that doesn’t imply you might have needs

Hot take aparently but I hate that so much of the txf fandom seem to see scully as like. Trapped in the x files by mulder? When, at least to me, that is very much not the case? Mulder kinda sees it that way sometimes, but its pretty clear to me that shes there willingly. She could have left at any time. If she wasn't also a little insane she probably would have. But shes there because she wants to be. Shes happy there.
Upon rewatching the show its literally the opposite. Mulder on several separate occasions is like "please leave the files you will get hurt and die" and everyone else is like "yes get put of the freak loser basement please girl" and scullys just like "no i will not leave i like the near death experiences and the freak loser"
yes!! dana scully loves the x files!! dana scully loves a mystery, she loves to seek out things she cannot solve. i think both of them are driven by the desire to discover and prove but i think mulder is driven more by his desire to prove, and scully is driven by her curiosity ! i mean obviously she also wants to prove herself right bc she’s stubborn, but she wouldn’t keep going along with his shenanigans if she didn’t want to know the true answers. dana scully is a scientist!!! experiments are designed based off of questions, not hypotheses.
they were never going to be free to love each other
I think part of why the S3 ending works for me, despite how painful it is, is that Aziraphale and Crowley never actually had free will in the original universe.
Not really.
We, as the audience, experienced their relationship through a very human lens, so we kept imagining they could eventually just “run away together” and finally be happy as an angel and demon. But the finale reveals something much darker: their entire existence existed inside an authored system.
God admits She kept putting them together because their love amused Her. Crowley was “given” to Aziraphale. Their meetings across history were not random. Their longing was observed, nudged, cultivated, but never actually allowed to fully resolve.
That’s horrific.
Not because their love wasn’t real. Their love was probably the most real thing in the universe. But the framework surrounding it was fundamentally manipulative.
They were never safe. Never free. Never truly allowed to choose each other completely.
Which is why the ending ultimately requires a new universe.
Not because Aziraphale and Crowley “failed” to make it work. Because the original cosmology itself was abusive.
The tragedy is not that they loved each other and lost. The tragedy is that they finally realized the game itself was rigged.
And once they understood that, there was no ethical way to continue existing inside it.
They could never make me hate you, complex female character whose reaction to trauma was not pretty and digestible like how people think it should be.
I’m so good at video games
