our formatting is pretty inconsistent -- however, typically all lowercase, third person, colorless, iconless, normal font size other than some small text throughout. we have some icons and sometimes use color in replies. if for any reason my formatting is inaccessible to you please let me know. i don't mind how rp partners format their own replies. feel free to continue asks as threads.

grace for sure was the school’s health teacher (even if a bit begrudgingly) bc he knows so many adults will teach it pretty poorly or not know how to answer students sex ed questions & just genuinely cares abt the students having proper health information and safe sex knowledge !!!

Ken’s frustration was building by the minute. one moment, Barbie is speaking to him and seeming interested. the next, it’s like he doesn’t even exist to her. she always prioritizes herself or her friends — which he respects! but that doesn’t make the ache in his chest any better. that is meant to be their house, and he’s so tired of working to win her over.

he is headed back home from after one of Barbie’s big dance parties. sulking. the music and moves replay in his head and he feels a bit less alone. Ken hums to himself, though it fades after a moment. the walk back home feels so long when he does it by himself.

though he’s suddenly aware that he really isn't alone anymore, an unfamiliar voice that seems to be speaking to him. he turns to face the other and furrows his eyebrows. who is this? a new Ken? it wasn’t out of the question — new dolls turn up all the time. could even be someone entirely new, not Barbie or Ken, like Allan or Midge.

Ken was starting to think that going after barbie in the Real World was a bad idea. the Real World is so much more complicated than BarbieLand. but he misses her! he is nothing without her. although his sense of self & self-worth have improved, he still struggles without her. without her light to guide him to shore, he’s aimless.

quite literally aimless, wandering the paths of ‘California’ in hopes of any leads.

his woeful train of thought is interrupted by a gentle voice. he looks over at the stranger, disgruntled expression shifting into a crooked smile, half-hearted.

<yes> Rocky answers simply, standing close behind Simon as he has throughout the rest of the day. the laptop translates his words aloud, given Simon has not had as much exposure to Rocky’s language like Grace has (though he is picking it up quite quickly). he is very curious about him. there is so much he does different to Grace — even just in the way he holds himself or moves. he watches Simon explore the dome initially made for Grace.

   VOX knows he should be grateful the Vees didn't ultimately disown him and act as if they never knew him at all. however, easier to admit than it is to know it. velvette’s words are only grating, poking at a still-sore wound that VOX isn’t ready to acknowledge, much less try and heal. he leans back against the wall, with folded arms he avoids looking in her direction.

          STEVE AWKWARDLY SITS ON THE QUESTION FOR A MOMENT. the silence of his house ringing through it, as if answering for him. he was always happy when the gang came back to hawkins to see him, and he was always more than happy to invite robin to stay in his spare room or his rv in the driveway. but conversations like this sometimes made it harder to have her over, when he was trying to forget and move on with life.

          " yeah, of course. how couldn't it ? " he finally admits, picking up his mug from the coffee table, to gently sip at the warm drink inside. coffee or tea, or maybe even a hot chocolate. he doesn't remember and it's suddenly tasteless on his tongue. " people died. kids died. i think of them . . . a lot. i think of the kids who moved away a lot too. every time i see the ones who stayed in town it . . . puts me back there. even if they're happy and safe i still feel like i need to fight for them. i still see them as those scared kids . . . " he tries to explain how it feels, to see lucas pushing max around in her chair in town or mike at the alcohol store or any of the others when they visited. even if their faces grew and wrinkled, he couldn't get their scared screams out of his head. even sometimes when we was coaching the younger ones, he suddenly felt like they were fighting for their lives.    she knows it's become a bit of a taboo to bring up everything that happened before, but it's not something she can just forget about especially when she's visiting hawkins. every moment of it is so present in their mind, so real, so terrifying. some days she can't even believe they all survived it. that they all live normal lives given everything they saw, everything they did. and he was only involved in such a small part of what went down! the kids were dealing with it from the start!

   " oh, steve ... " robin isn't often at a loss for words, but the silence is heavy. a hand reaches out to rest on steve's upper arm. she worries about him, holding so much on his heart.

   jane doesn’t exactly understand mabel – though she doesn’t understand most people, so she’s not exactly the exception here. however, mabel is always good company. she doesn’t mind jane’s quirks. in fact, mabel usually embraces them, sees her as whole. it makes jane feel safer in ways she rarely is able to, especially with girls her own age. the two of them have both dealt with worlds beyond understanding, and through that have a sort of unspoken bond that makes spending time together more comfortable for her.

   today they are working on some sort of paper project mabel is designing, and generously letting jane help alongside her. she even encourages jane's additions. she carefully chooses a frog sticker to add to their craft, nodding contently before she glances over at her friend.

   “ wacky? what does that mean? ” the word feels strange on in her mouth. it almost sounds like some kind of candy or soda brand she hasn't heard of, but that doesn't really make sense in the sentence.

          maybe giving this guy a chance was a mistake . . . he had seemed nice enough at first, but maybe it was her being hopeful that a guy would actually be interested in her at all. even just purely for sex. arms quickly folded over ashley's chest as she glares at him. ❝ you seriously don't think calling some chick 'weird' is being too honest ?? ❞ she accuses, challenge in the back of her voice. daring him to say it again, or to say something worse to her face, right here right now. she's well practiced in charged insults and arguments. it was well molded into her dna, her blood. she knew how to hold her own in verbal challenge like this but . . . she did have a pocket knife hidden in her boot, which for some reason seems to be calling her name in this very moment. luckily for johnny, her benevolent heart, decides to give him another chance to prove himself though.

          for a moment, johnny is more concerned with the bar. patrons lost in their own conversations, half-empty bottles lining the walls, neon lights and knickknacks covered in dust. it’s not the nicest bar in town by far. it’s a place people go to blend in with the uncared-for atmosphere. to find similar company.

          grey eyes return to her, a gleam of surprise - no, admiration at her fiery rebuttal. her insults don't seem to get to him. he scratches thoughtfully at his stubble, nodding and smiling apologetically, though it’s appearance is brief.

          “ well played … i mean, you’re free to leave. i’m not keeping you here. ” he takes a swig of his beer, wincing a bit as it goes down. lude would know better what to say in this moment, but johnny isn't the smooth talker his friend is. he looks the girl over, as if trying to take all of her in. mostly he's trying to remember her name. he's sure she mentioned it earlier.
