Lucky || Chris & Jake
From Chris’ reaction, Jake felt like he had totally screwed up by giving him the card. The boy just looked like unhappy and confused, which wasn’t what he was expecting at all. He didn’t mind if Christian didn’t have the same feelings towards him, but he didn’t expect it to have any negative effects on their relationship. “I get it,” He said, shaking his head. “I probably just shouldn’t have told you— not like this, at least.” Jake thought that his efforts would have made his chances of a date with Chris greater, but that clearly wasn’t the case. He was trying to do something nice for once, but it didn’t work out as well as he had planned. “Oh, alright. That actually sounds like a better idea than dinner.” He was happy to hear that Chris wasn’t going to completely ditch him and just go home, plus he felt like there was so much he needed to learn about the other boy. “Don’t worry— it’s fine, really! I totally understand what you’re saying and I’m sure I just overwhelmed you by telling you like this, I just didn’t want to blurt it out and make things awkward.” He sighed, realizing that it probably was awkward now that he’d said that. “So,” He started, looking at Chris with a hopeful smile. “My car or yours?”
Chris didn't want to make Jake feel bad for doing this-- it was a lot for some people. He knew that. Jake didn't seem like that kind of person, but he also knew that sometimes people didn't feel the same emotions they showed. "Just let it go, alright? I'm sorry." Chris smiled a little this time, looking at Jake before punching his arm. "I'm an asshole-- I'm sorry." He put the card back in the envelope before putting it with the rest of his stuff and putting his backpack on. He looked at the boy, smiling a little. "Um, I'm going to say mine, because we can just leave instead of waiting for your driver to pick up." He laughed a little bit, pulling at Jake before they were out of the locker room. It was cute that Jake liked him so much, and after hearing how much that really was, Chris couldn't believe someone could like him that much. Jake was innocent and cute, and probably nothing to worry about. "So, um," Chris looked at the boy, squinting from the afternoon sun. "Why do you like me?"
