You know what? I feel compelled to add on to my last post. This was a HORRIBLE move for the writing.

For those who don't know, each of the LIs have been mapped to one of the six realms of samsara - as the story has gone one, that's become more and more obvious. Xavier represents the realm of humanity, Zayne represents the realm of demigods, Rafayel represents the realm of the gods, Sylus represents the realm of the underworld, and Caleb represents the realm of ghosts/the undead. Valko was supposed to represent the realm of the animals.

The point of this was that they all tied to MC in some way, the current theory being that she is all of creation,and all of the boys represent a facet of the world. It is sooooo obvious that a 6th LI was always planned - there were always six stellactrum and it was apparent that each color mapped to one of the boys.

So! Canceling Valko actively erases much of the symbolism in the story. If they stop "all further development" as they stated they would, I wouldn't be surprised if the quality of the writing goes DOWN. Sylus and Caleb's stories would probably be strongly impacted, since the "dark trio" would never be complete. They write and develop story elements 1-2 years in advance, so this pivot would derail so much. I genuinely can't believe they made this decision, it's incredibly stupid from a business perspective and means they're sacrificing the majority of the fandom for a very loud minority.

I'm pissed because this will affect the entire damn game. It's not just Valko, it's the rest of the storyline from now on. It's the storylines of the other LIs, since this game tends to casually insinuate things about the other boys even in the chapters that aren't focused on them. Valko's story probably would have revealed a bit about EVER - which connects to all of the boys - and now that's lost to us.

Do never get this livid when it comes to fiction, but this was such an incredibly stupid and impulsive response from the devs. I've seen some games collapse due to devs and marketing teams that lack the courage to stick to their story, and I'm getting war flashbacks (/lh) with LADS right now.

they could just, you know, delay valko’s introduction not cancel him entirely if that’s what it takes to update the main story and everything else—they could have focused on maintenance and updates first so valko could be introduced properly and in a more timely manner. man, we got the character and memory card trailers and everything.

i honestly didn’t think they would pull this move. i am shocked.

don't get me wrong, i know lads has a LOT of issues we all want fixed, and we all want main story updates, but i feel like so many people weren’t considering that valko was necessary for main story progression, and by getting rid of him, EVERYTHING will have to be reworked, and main story updates will take EVEN LONGER and likely need to be redone completely to make the lore linear and make sense

and not only that, but i feel like this is SO disrespectful to all the people that worked on valko, it's CLEAR they put a lot of work into this update, making multiple memories for him, putting in all the quality time features, home features etc, and now all of that hard work will have to be scrapped because some big cn spenders didn't like him bc it was "rushed" or they wanted main story (which they're not getting??) or he looked too western or he was too tan or whatever.

like are people forgetting how much fans didn't want ANY new LI being introduced?? are we forgetting the backlash sylus and caleb got when they were announced?? and now they are SO loved by the fandom.

i wasn't around for sylus' release but i was there for caleb's and the backlash was INSANE!!!! SO MANY PEOPLE HATED HIM!!!! and now people love him and are so insane about him

and now they're completely scrapping him, not even holding off and pushing back his release and working on other issues in the mean time (which imo would be the best compromise)

this is an INSANELY bad move on infold's part

TLDR;

disrespectful to the people who worked on it

all content is now gonna take SO MUCH LONGER bc EVERYTHING will have to be reworked (and potentially retroactively reworking memories)

people got over themselves before, let them do it again

the similarities and differences between valko and raf are so interesting to me rn. theyre both very playful in their interactions with mc which i love. obviously they both have an inhuman side, both have a scent thing (lol), both well known figures (chairman and famous painter), both have unnaturally coloured hair, and ofc the masks. raf has the bond with mc and it seems like valko is gonna have something similar in that regard aswell. however one of the most noticeable differences to me is how valko has a rough/intimidating aesthetic that hides his playfulness and friendliness while raf is the opposite as he has a very enchanting look and playful personality that "hides" his darker sides. also theres the contrast between painter (humanities) vs science (stem) which is of particular interest to me as an english undergad. i'm also wondering what the treatment of the werewolves (pls i feel so cringe writing this but I AM FREE) is going to be like compared to the lemurians. did they also face exploitation and genocide? have they stayed completely hidden?? im so curious
