Proper Attire For Colorado Snowmobiling

You will want to make sure that you dress in layers to be ready for the ever changing weather conditions in the Colorado mountains. The first layer should be a synthetic-blend long underwear that allows your body to breathe. Make sure not to use cotton materials as they can get wet and freeze, and who wants that? Tips For Snowmobiling in Powder

Sometimes riding a snowmobile can be every bit as challenging as getting up on skis or a snowboard for the first time, especially in deeper snow. Here are some tips to help you become a more advanced rider: • Lean into your turns – Snowmobiles are heavy machines and it takes quite a bit of force to get them to turn. Leaning into your turns helps initiate those turns and helps you maintain control of the sled. • Counter steer – When leaning into and turning a sled, it may be counter-intuitive, but turning the handlebar the opposite way that you’re turning helps keep you afloat in deeper snow. • Side Hilling – Traversing across a hill is an essential skill to have in the quiver when riding a snowmobile. Leaning into the hill and engaging the uphill ski of the sled helps it from sliding downhill. However, always have an escape route and be able to bail safely if necessary.
