honestly my memory SUCKS and i'm not someone that really writes down notes about the shows i've been to... and i've been to more than i probably should have over the year... so it's hard to remember many specific details but here are some that i can remember off the top of my head! mainly peter because he's been especially silly lately
at one show peter came in very late as his typing pool girl so there was a long awkward silence after "that's gonna stain". alex started to say peter's line ("i'm gonna have to-") and then finally peter came in and said his line as if nothing happened. alex's typing pool girl then said "so you've finally decided to show up" and peter abashedly went "yeah..."
another mishap was when the keys came in very late in making a man in the bit where bevan is sat and monty starts explaining why they need the receipts, so alex had to stretch out the lines into "a..... bachelor........ residing... in. oval". in the same song they were having trouble with lighting cues too so at the end of mam when the music was loud enough alex shouted at roshani "what is going on?!"
i really enjoy that recently peter has been picking people in the audience to be 'the swarm' in pre-jft when he's saying why he doesn't like bees ("once you've angered the swarm") and he glares at them as he slowly sits down. i only realised he was doing this when @antigonesghosts and i were sat in The Swarm Seats, and since then i've noticed it every time
there was the time where somehow in briefcase ballet pobil ended up holding steve's tie? so roshani snatched it back and afterwards was holding her blazer closed and acting very protective over the tie
i miss jason spilsbury mouthing and miming "call me" at charles. i spread misinformation on here by accident that it was at monty and somehow it got back to him so he started making it very obvious it was to charles by pointing at him. and then he got told to cut it forever because it was too blatant :(
at a maddie monty show, peter made a bunch of very very silly physical comedy choices. the ones i remember vividly were 1) after willie watkins, on each of his lines he jumped towards maddie ("a different pilot has crash landed" jump. "in the exact place we planned" jump. "on the exact date we planned" jump. "and he's also an allied soldier" jump. "and he's also called william" jump.) and 2) in the confrontation he dropped to his knees between maddie's legs?????
at the show i was at on tues, monty tried to slap charles with the fig menu to stop him reaching bevan. he failed and slumped over the desk
at a george charlie show george skipped ahead in the pre-jft scene by accident so mary piggles left the stage too early and confused alex so she sped through her line. "beautiful...... womenandtablesandchairs"
there's of course all the aggressive deborah moments we used to get (deborah shoving the hat into monty's hand and monty calling her a bad girl, or deborah refusing to give monty the hat and monty having to snatch it) which i miss a lot, but they've been bringing some back for the last few shows and at one of my most recent ones monty cowered from deborah in fear a little
i have to mention all the times monty has ripped charles' shirt open in just for tonight (outside the gargoyle club). but i also need to say that many of those times alex only ripped it a little bit and peter ripped it the rest of the way open??? the first show i saw this happen the shirt was just limply hanging open for the rest of the song (dont worry he wears a vest under) and i was truly losing my mind about it. especially in the submariners bit
at one show in the tub bit of glitzy peter did a finger gun at alex on "it's a name" and just held it there in the air, so alex slowly touched his index with her own and they were stood like that still touching fingertips as monty said "it's a beautiful name tub"
on that note, peter tub is my favourite thing in the world he is SUCH a character. i love that he always camply slaps the makeup artist's hip and i also love when he winks into the audience. alex monty is also so diabolically down bad for his tub
i also really love peter's pobil and i find it especially funny when he unexpectedly goes into a very deep voice on "importante"
speaking of briefcase ballet, alex juan has recently been FUMING after not getting to blow out his candle. he looks so upset for the rest of the scene
oh well that reminds me i cant not mention how juan and steve always flirt in some way. ive seen many variations of it, and whether its alex/maddie, alex/roshani, or maddie/roshani theres always something. i really like when they make their phones kiss or tip their hats at each other. i have also seen them sticking their fingers in the holes on each other's phones.... whatever that means
and speaking of flirting, alex has a tendency to sometimes play "it's bizarre it's disgusting it's borderline psychopathic" like monty is a little turned on. and similarly, on tuesday monty seemed very into how weird charles is on the "does a newt have an anus" line. alex kind of bit into her tongue as monty smiled at him, and "why are you like this" was very fond/intrigued
there is also of course the lip bite alex monty does after the tie adjust on "men like us don't need to be on the list", and how he full body checks charles out before walking off. i like that peter kind of plays ditw reprise as a sort of stunned-but-into-it gay awakening after experiencing that
on a more serious note, i love when sometimes in act as if peter doesnt say "what if theres a problem with everything we put together" but says instead "what if something goes wrong with everything i put together". it somehow makes it even more vulnerable and it is an openness about his anxiety that monty cant handle. but just in general, the way alex and peter play act as if just will never be topped in my heart
similarly george sometimes says "what have i done" instead of "what have we done" when they havent gotten the briefcase back, which is equally vulnerable (and surprisingly so for george charlie)
on the note of charlie being vulnerable, i have to mention peter's line deliveries in the confrontation because they are always so insanely good. i really like when charles is near tears on "i trust him", and keeps that going into "i saw you give this to your brother". i've been to a few shows where alex and peter have been tearing up in that bit, specifically alex monty getting choked up and stammering on "i'm issuing you an order"
ok back to silliness because this is making me too sad we're losing them. in love is a bird peter once made little worms with his fingers(?) on "to woo and be wooed". like the worms were wooing each other. it was very cute but he then seemed very embarrassed and sad on "in return..."
speaking of love is a bird i have noticed that peter charles sometimes instinctively touches/adjusts his tie when jean starts talking about love (usually on "gathering twigs and then building a nest in my heart") and i cant help but assume he's thinking of all the times monty has adjusted his tie
okay there are so so so many more beloved things especially from alex and peter that im sure ill kick myself for forgetting later, but im going to finish off here with something from my first ever time seeing mince <3 it was a no-fly and peter couldnt get the harness off alex so she had to keep rambling to fill the time, eventually ran out of things to say, and said to tub "getting on alright there darling?" knowing nothing about mince, i assumed that monty's plan to go up in the air just always failed and that him calling tub darling was just... in the script
