‘the fight’ part 2/2

a flash snowstorm hit the mountains right before the turn of the year, and the drift piled up fast. all of us at the foot of town were stuck inside for a few days, watching the world through frost. but today we went out into the cleared streets to properly start the year anew. it was too cold to swim, but yuki dragged us down to the river anyway. the water was like ice, but it felt like waking up. 🧊❄️🥶

shivering, we dried off and walked up to the temple in senbamachi, our teeth chattering the whole way. we left our wishes at the shrine and headed back into town, yuki and naomi bickering back and forth the entire hike down the hill. ⛩️✉️🌱

naomi said she couldn't feel her hands, so we stopped to get something that could warm us up at the shokudō. it's the best spot in town! i think i'll come here every week this year. 🍥🏮🍜

One quiet autumn day, while Hazel was away at university, Mikael brought home a stray cat.

The poor little thing had been hiding in the bushes near our house for days, so he took him inside and gave him some food.

And just like that, we gained another neighbor, a cat named Pirate 🏴‍☠️
