[ lbhun has fallen. ]
“Please go somewhere else,” the shadow prince says with a deadpan look, pretending to shield his eyes from the other. “You’re starting to dazzle the surroundings and– quite frankly, it’s starting to make my eyes hurt. Don’t you have some angelic duties to perform or something? Or, whatever your kind does on a daily basis?”
[ * -- He clucked his tongue, staring at the male in distaste. Why he was even speaking with the other being, the angel wasn’t really sure-- Except-- Except that it was a lot better than consorting with the demon he was forced to live with. Anything was better than being with the demon. “Well, shit-brain, I’m not an angel anymore. I don’t have any angelic bullshit duties to do or whatever. So get a pair of sunglasses because I plan on staying here.”
[ byunghvn has fallen ]
That was easier than he expected, which actually wasn’t a terrible thing. Certainly, he expected more conflict before the angel would be forced to comply, but there wasn’t much of it. Perhaps the demon had overestimated the other boy’s hatred towards him. Or perhaps not. The angel may have despised Byunghun’s guts due to his entity, but as far as Byunghun knew, he wasn’t stupid. After all, this offer would somewhat benefit the both of them. Byunghun would be given information he’s been searching for for years now– and the angel? The angel would be graced with answers too. Sort of.
The elevator finally surfaces to the tenth floor, after a long process of many stops before then, and Byunghun steps out first, gesturing for the other to follow him. ❝ Follow me. ❞ A couple of steps down the hall and the demon’s already rather troubled– the first time he’s ever been, actually. But this wasn’t the only first he’s been through this evening either. It’s also the first time he’s had to compromise– had to give in order to obtain valuable information. Perhaps he’s just discovered the reason why demons and angels aren’t meant to coincide.
❝ Here we are. Don’t touch anything and don’t steal anything. ❞ With that being said, Byunghun proceeds to slide the keycard through the padlock, earning permission to enter the room moments later. He first flickers the light switch on, but not much changed. It’s dim, but for hotels, this was normal. Or maybe this was only normal because it’s all he ever really knows– Incheon, or Busan, or even Gangnam, all hotels smell the same.
Without kicking off his shoes, he already settles onto the bed, stifling a sigh from escaping in the process, ❝ Anyway, spill. What do you know about Byunghun? ❞ His gaze now casts over onto the other, but there’s not much interest in his expression, more of exhaustion, ❝ Do you know anything about his pact? ❞
[ * -- Following the other in, Changjo pauses by the doorway to remove his shoes, gently tucking the pair into the corner of the entrance hall before shrugging off his flannel and hanging the cloth on one of the hangers in the closet. Walking in, he looked at the demon rather distastefully, noting that the being hadn’t removed his shoes as of yet.
Sighing, he made his way to settle down on the other bed, only to notice one slight problem with the room. There was no other bed. Just the one that the demon was currently sprawled all over-- and there was no couch, or any sort of furniture that could double as a bed.
You’ve got to be kidding me.
Looking at the other, he let out a sigh for the umpteenth time, before finally speaking. “You said you’d let me stay in your room.” He began, speaking slowly. “But there’s only one bed-- And I know we aren’t going to be sharing. I at least had a bed in the last room I stayed in-- This is an upgrade how? Being stuck with your disgusting self and not having a place to sleep?” He glares at the other, before grabbing one of the chairs and seating himself in it, crossing his legs. “Tell you what. I told you I’d give you information in exchange for a bed. So until I get that bed, you won’t get anything on Byunghun. Sounds fair, right?”

Typical.
Of course the first thought to surface in the other’s head would be that the demon’s responsible for this boy’s deterioration, but he wasn’t. At least, from what he could recall, he wasn’t. Because even though he’s capable of possession, he’s not capable of murder. And maybe that’s what separates him from humans. Because they are. Hell knows they are.
Yet, as much as Byunghun wanted to snap back, he was well aware that doing so meant sacrificing the potential answers he could finally receive about the boy. So his jaw tightens, and he only replies with a tedious glare instead. The angel was lucky. For now, anyway.
So all that’s left now is negotiation. The one thing Byunghun despises doing. The one thing he never does. But manipulation wasn’t effective here. The angel wasn’t stupid. He was frivolous, but not as dumb as the demon made him out to be. So Byunghun’s eyes shut for a moment before his gaze eventually rests upon the other again, only, it’s less sharp now.
❝ I didn’t steal anything, birdbrain. Look, if you’re that curious, I’ll tell you what I know, and you can tell me what you know. Since it’s clear you know much more about this kid than I do. ❞ His arms fold across his chest, and it’s obvious he’s loathing every moment of this. But these were answers that he needed if he was going to try and discover his own being. He needed to first know Byunghun.
❝ Here, how about in exchange for what you know, I’ll let you stay in my room. Beats staying with some dingy guy who’s probably going to ask for something gross of you. ❞ He’s trying not to sound so repulsed to the idea of sharing his room, but it couldn’t be terrible if the other boy’s going to despise it too. It meant with or without the angel, Byunghun will still be able to seclude himself. And that’s all he’s really vouching for.
Solitude.
He doesn’t want to accept the deal. Because that would be akin to making a pact with a demon. And Changjo was an angel-- Then again, he was an angel. Was. Past tense. As in a former state of being. He was no longer bound by Heaven’s law, right? So he could do as he pleased.
Besides, no matter how well he behaved, God wouldn’t accept him back into Heaven. The Creator had already torn off Changjo’s wings, and damned him to living amongst the mortals.
The angel had nothing to lose. Besides, he wasn’t doing anything meaningful with his life anyways. He was just waiting for his death to come. In the meantime, he could at least learn more about Byunghun. How did a fate like this befall a boy like that?
“Sure. I don’t like it, but why not? I mean it--” Here the male paused, eyes widening at the demon’s statement. How did it know? That Changjo was essentially selling his body just to have somewhere to sleep at night? “I-m-- I-- I--” He didn’t know how to respond. And very suddenly, he felt disgusting. Once he was a great angel, soaring through the sky and fulfilling his duty to mankind and God, and now--
Now he was a traitor. Now he got on his knees not to pray, but to pay for a roof over his head.
And just like the demon had said earlier, Changjo was shameful. His parents had probably long distanced themselves from their failure of a son.
“I-- Okay. Yeah. We can exchange what we know. Thanks.”
One of the nice things about being what he is, is that it’s nearly impossible to sneak up on him or follow him without him knowing. After all, shadows are the ones that usually following others around. If anyone knows when they’re being followed, it’s the ones who tend to do the following. And that’s why Byunghun smirks behind his black mask when he realizes he’s being followed. He doesn’t know by who or what yet but he can feel it.
So he decides to go through the maze known as Seoul, taking a right into a nearby alleyway, just to see how long it will take for his stalker to know that he knows.
Either the guy was crazy, or he knew he was being followed. Maybe both. No normal person took this many random turns into different alleys and streets. Changjo could’ve sworn that the two of them had passed the same building multiple times by now.
The angel wasn’t dumb. This other being definitely knew he was being followed. But if that was the case, why hadn’t it said anything yet? Why was it just allowing Changjo to follow so easily? Finally ducking into an alley, Changjo called out to the other.
“Is there any reason why you’ve taken me through this alley four times in the past hour?”
✫✫¸.•°* It didn’t matter how long the day had seemed, nor the frustrations that the dryad had had to deal with that day; the Hyangwonji Pond seemed to have the capability of making her forget her petty struggles. Perhaps it was the combination of serene scenery and the tranquility that seemed to linger in the air that had this effect on her, but whatever it was, Lilaia was perfectly content to remain within its peaceful barriers until it was time to leave and repeat the cycle all over again. The thing that she perhaps loved most about the destination was that, although it was a popular spot for couples and the occasional pairing did wander through the seemingly endless beauty of the small park, at most times it was completely devoid of human life, and the faerie could enjoy it all to herself. This was not one of those times, it seemed, because a man’s voice was cutting through her state of pastoral mind. Her brown hues meet the almost concerned stranger’s, her own registering mild curiousity and playfulness as she smiles. “Not at all! I thank you for the concern. It really is lovely here, don’t you think?” Her clear, bell-like voice sounds.
“Yeah, it’s quite lovely.” He spoke slowly, still rather cautious about the whole ordeal. While he didn’t venture to the area often, he came around enough to be able to recognize most of those who ventured to the pond. And this female certainly wasn’t one of those people.
Then again, like he said, he didn’t come often. Perhaps the female came when he wasn’t around, and vice versa. Today just so happened to be the day when they both ran into each other.
Seeing the girl smile, he couldn’t help but smile back. He was still cautious, but not as much. She didn’t seem malicious or anything of that nature. Changjo deemed himself safe. Probably.
“Do you come here often? I’ve never seen you around these parts before..”
The events that followed after were definitely unpredictable. Instead of reiterating his anguish with the demon, the other boy approached him. He approached him. No one does that. Not when Byunghun has clearly distressed this said person in some way. The demon was astonished at most– too surprised to comprehend just exactly what the angel’s intentions were when he scrutinized him.
In a matter of moments, however, Byunghun coils away, displaying obvious distaste in his expression once he does so. ❝ Steal? I don’t know what kind of shit you’re on, but I didn’t steal anything. Nor did I do anything to the kid who owned this body before. ❞ His revolt almost seems defensive, which only occurred when his human shell became the subject. But it wasn’t long before his eyes slightly widen, and he’s staring at the angel in disbelief.
Did the angel know him? This boy that Byunghun’s been pretending to be? Not even pretend– more like, forced. Forced to be.
The angel had to have known him. And Byunghun– Byunghun may finally receive the answers he’s been determined to find. Perhaps, this boy even knew why Byunghun was assigned to this body to begin with. It’s a stretch, but anyone who knew Byunghun’s former host was a miraculous find.
❝ You know him? This kid, I mean. ❞ The elevator surfaced to the seventh floor, but Byunghun’s too invested into the potential questions he’d finally provide answers for that he doesn’t seem to notice. ❝ What do you know about him? ❞
“Yeah, I know him. Knew him is more accurate, I guess.” His voice is barely above a mumble, as he continues observing the demon up and down, staring its face. Well, not its face. Byunghun’s face. The demon inside didn’t look like this. The creature was just possessing Byunghun, using the boy’s body as a medium.
What a pity.
This was yet another example of how Changjo had failed as an angel. He should’ve kept closer tabs on the boy, to ensure something like this didn’t happen. But he didn’t. Changjo didn’t watch over this boy like he should have. And because of him, Byunghun was sentenced to ( what was in Changjo’s mind ) a horrible fate. A demon’s shell.
Disgusting.
And finally, Changjo snaps out of his thoughts, stepping away from the other male. His eyes narrow and he sneers, wrinkling his nose in distaste as the elevator stops at the eigth floor. “And why should I tell you? You should know. Considering that you probably stole the child’s body. Tell me, how’d you do it? How’d you trick him? He wasn’t stupid. You must have done something to him-- There’s no way he’d ever allow himself to be used like this--”
@lbhun has fallen...
This one wasn’t human. That much Changjo knew-- Or at least, he thought he knew. If he was to be honest, the male wasn’t all too sure what the other was-- Just that his aura didn’t feel genuinely human ( to Changjo, at least ). Curiosity had gotten the best of him, and as a result, Changjo had begun following the other through the city. He wanted answers.
He just hoped the other wouldn’t spot him.
@songmxd ( mary ) has fallen...
“I’m not really sure how to go about that.” He begins, looking at the female. “I mean... I guess I’m pretty.. But I don’t think I’m pretty enough for you to test make up on...”
@driftedrecords ( hyerim ) has fallen...
Slouching over, Changjo brings his knees into his chest, wrapping his arms around the limbs. A typical day. He was wandering around the city, as per usual, looking for someone he could ‘convince’ into giving him money to get a cheap hotel room, or anything along those lines. He had tried sleeping on the streets once, but had been rudely awakened by some strange man attempting to go through his pockets-- that was the last time Changjo would ever put himself through something like that.
In any case, he needed to find someone, and soon. Nightfall was approaching, and he needed somewhere to sleep. The boy had wandered to some sort of park, and had sat himself down, near the female. She looked wealthy. Maybe she’d be of assistance.
“Nighttime is pretty... But kind of dangerous in these parts. I’m not particularly fond of it, in all honesty. In any case, the was my lame attempt at starting conversation. What are you doing here, Miss?”
┅ Finally, a day where he could breathe and relax like any other human being. If he honestly thought about it though, being a person in the daily flow of life after becoming a legal adult, meant being busy. It was why he supposed the few moments of down time were treasured dearly and he suddenly envied his younger self and his free time. That day, he found himself in tennis shoes and jogging shorts, heading for the gym. Taeyong wasn’t one that worked out for health reasons or because he wanted to look good, but more just to blow off steam every few weeks. His dance classes helped, however he found that good long run on a tread mill or track gave him the type of physical exhaustion he craved for. With his bag slung over his shoulder, he made his way from the dorms to the nearest public gym. It was on his way there, not paying any mind as he mulled over what he may or may not have passed that semester, that he ran straight into a slightly shorter male’s back. His sneakers ground against the man’s heels and his forehead smashed into the back of his skull to the point that had him yelping in surprise as he rubbed at his forehead. “Ow! Sorry!” @chvngjc
“Watch where you’re going.” His voice is gruff and rather cold as he stares at the other male. Why he was being so rude, he was unsure of. He had never really been this way before-- Then again, things now were much different than they ever had been. Nothing was the same. Changjo wasn’t the same.
But rudeness was uncalled for. He knew that, deep within him. He should apologize. But was he going to? No. He didn’t owe the world a thing. Not when its Creator had treated him like this. Do onto those as you would want onto yourself. That was the ‘golden’ rule, right? The world had treated Changjo like shit.
So that’s how he was going to act.
Even if it meant going against his own core personality. “Did it hurt? I heard hitting your head can make you lose brain cells.. And I don’t think you’re in much of a position to be lacking anymore of those...”
❝ Fiesty, are we? ❞ Despite the fact that this wasn’t necessarily how he envisioned an angel to be like, he didn’t expect anything different due to the boy’s situation. After all, as Byunghun confirmed already, he was fallen. Which meant he just naturally wasn’t suitable to reside in heaven, not when he was evicted for a valid reason. He was selfish– and he toyed with death– something only sinister beings would do. Something Byunghun would do if he was capable of it.
When their gazes meet, Byunghun notes the lack of patience in the other boy without needing much more than a few seconds. The boy’s trying to escape as quick as possible, for obvious reasons. But the demon was never one to be considerate. So without replying any further, Byunghun reaches out again and taps on every single button that’s between five and ten.
And then he’s laughing. A malefic kind of laugh– tormenting almost. Like he’s just won something.
❝ I know a thing or two about bad. But hey, think of it this way, your parents don’t have to put up with you anymore. I’m sure they’re more than ashamed already. ❞ His gaze settles onto the other boy again, just as the elevator pulls to a halt on the sixth floor, ❝ I’d say you’d be able to see them again when you die, but I forgot– you can’t, can you? ❞
This demon was a child. An immature, sadistic, cruel child. This was exactly why the angel hated their kind so much. They were bratty, obnoxious, rude, foul, disgusting--
Changjo let out a sigh, finally turning his head to fully stare at the creature. And what he saw-- He didn’t believe it. He didn’t want to believe it. Anything that the demon had said was forgotten. There was no way-- Byunghun was a good child, admittedly shy, but always full of life. There was no way--
There was no way one of my charges would ever become a demon’s vessel.
And for the first time, instead of retracting away from the demon, the angel steps closer. He places his hands on the other’s cold cheeks, maneuvering his head around to observe it at all angles. Yes, this was Byunghun. Most definitely. The features were simply older and more defined, but Changjo knew. He never forgot his children.
“Where did you steal this body from?” His voice is cold, as it booms around the elevator. “What did you do to the boy it came from? He doesn’t deserve this-- He doesn’t deserve to be used by something like you--”
@cvelia ( lilaia ) has fallen...
Changjo didn’t like to wander around too much. But he really didn’t have ,uch of a choice, considering he was homeless. He had nowhere to live, no one to see, no place to go. So wandering was all he could do.
Seoul was a large city. At least his journeys led to interesting things, like this one. The male had found himself at the Hyangwonji pond. It wasn’t all too interesting too begin with-- that is, until he saw the female. This was new. He had been here several times, yet hadn’t really seen her until now. Not many people came here. Was she lost or something?
“Ah-- Excuse me, miss?” The fallen called out, slowly approaching. “Do you need any help? Did you lose your way?”
So Tinkerbell had an attitude.
That, however, Byunghun expected. After all, if he was aware of the boy’s nature, the boy must have been aware of his as well. But just because his kind was exposed, it didn’t necessarily detract from how amused he was. If anything, it added to it.
Because even though it’s been five years since he’s been confined in this frame, he has yet to meet many creatures beyond the human race. It was always just humans– well, occasionally, or rarely, he’d be graced with a witch– or a nymph– or something even they aren’t aware of. But it was never an angel.
Never a fallen angel.
And this one– this one was interesting. Because here the boy was, earthbound after being booted from the human daycare upstairs to be at the foot of mankind– So in the end, the one who now needs to be babysat was this boy. Byunghun didn’t lie when he called it funny. Because it was.
❝Looks like someone fell out of the wrong cloud.❞ The demon inches closer to the other, knowing vividly well that the boy would just coil away. Because Byunghun’s nothing but foul and grit and just because he’s residing in a human body doesn’t mean he’s dismissed from these labels. Just like the fact that his body’s human doesn’t necessarily mean he is. And Tinkerbell definitely wasn’t treating him like one.
❝Hey, I was just looking for casual conversation. Aren’t angels supposed to be full of compassion and understanding?❞ There’s a pause as his grin sharpens, appearing somewhat like an obnoxious sneer on his expression, ❝Oh, wait. I forgot you’re no longer one.❞
Rolling his eyes, Changjo inched away from the other once more, watching the numbers slowly tick by. Fifth floor. Halfway there.
Could this elevator go any slower?
This person -- this demon, no, this thing -- was aggravating him. Polluting his very being just by breathing the same air as him. Did demons even breathe? Changjo couldn’t recall. He didn’t associate with dirt like that anyways. Why would he know?
Despite his thoughts, there’s a voice in the back of his mind, telling himself to not be so hypocritical. After all, he was no longer an angel anymore. He wasn’t even a human. He was less than that. At least humans had a chance to get into paradise. Not him. As soon as he died, Changjo was destined for Hell. Destined to burn in brimstone and fire for all of eternity.
That’s what traitors deserved.
“Are you as stupid as you are filthy?” For the first time, Changjo slides his eyes towards the other male, scanning his body up and down. “I told you not to talk to me. Besides--” Here his voice turned colder, and he finally spared the other the grace of turning to face him, “Besides. It’s like you said. I’m not an angel anymore. I’m not full of compassion and understanding. I don’t need to lower myself to speaking to dirt like your kind.”
Hypocritical. How could he call the demon dirt when he himself was cast out? No matter-- He wasn’t going to think of that.
“And also like you said. I’m fallen. You know why angels fall, right? It’s because they do bad things. Very bad things. So mind your own business and shut up.”
It’s just another long day. Not necessarily, but living as a human was more fatiguing than anything he’s ever had to deal with– despite the fact that he’s only been residing in this shell for about five years. Acting human alone was simply exhausting, even though he doesn’t need to do much performing. If anything– he had to do less of it. After all, it seems he’s not so suspicious if his appearance was just like theirs. Except dead.
He’s dead.
It doesn’t bother him though. Being dead, and being alive are practically the same thing.
So he’s there– at another hotel, tucked somewhere in the outskirts of Gangnam, trying to waste away another night. Because that’s the human thing to do.
Stepping into the elevator, he notices another figure there as well. A taller male– with much more of a build than his relatively small frame, but that’s not what appeals to his interest. What does is the memories filtering out of the male– the memories of turmoil– distress– and abandonment.
Memories like these were rare. Very much so considering the boy was as close to human as Byunghun was. He wasn’t.
Still, the demon only roots himself beside the stranger, resting his gaze onto the elevator doors sealing together. And it’s quiet, but not for long. No, he can only imagine the possible ways on intruding into the boy’s zone of comfort. It’s even better that Byunghun’s kind, and the boy’s kind, already naturally don’t like each other.
Perhaps Byunghun will remind him why.
❝Funny.❞ A chuckle’s stifled as the demon reaches out to tap on the button for the tenth floor, ❝You were unwanted up there, and you’re still unwanted down here.❞ And he can’t seem to contain his amusement anymore, allowing himself to break into a dry grin as he briefly glances over at the other boy, ❝ Nothing’s changed, huh?❞
Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
That was the only thought running through his mind as the other stepped into the elevator. Changjo had long sensed him -- his filth -- before the smaller had even set foot in the contraption. He wasn’t even one of the bastard mutts that ran around causing havoc, trying to appeal to their hellish parents. No, this creature was one of the full fledged ones. A demon.
An absolutely disgusting, foul demon.
Wrinkling his nose, Changjo turned his head ever so slightly the other way. He didn’t even want to look at the boy. The fallen already felt nauseated just from being within the same proximity as the demon. Disgusting. So disgusting.
And of course he was headed to the tenth floor as well. Of course Changjo’s luck worked like this-- God hated him, after all. No matter. He decided to just stand there and mind his own business. The trip would be over soon enough. Then he could head back to his room -- technically some man’s room, he wasn’t really too sure of the name -- and stay there until the filth had left.
Patience. That’s all he needed--
And then the filth started talking. Wonderful. Its words were sharp. Hurtful. Truly a demon. Those things were all like this, cruel and sadistic. Changjo had long turned hard himself-- but the way this boy spoke-- It hurt. Trust a demon to go for the biggest and freshest wound.
“Do not speak to me.” His voice rings through the elevator, as he still refuses to even turn his head towards the other. “My business is none of your concern. Go back to whatever hole you crawled out of, you disgusting excuse of a creature.”
