The Gengar would smile for a few reasons. He was looking for Ruric but couldn't say why. Another is because he was close to getting his revenge. The bastard killed him in his previous life, and he could get his revenge. "Well, he's an Umbreon with a scar across his nose. Probably hangs out with an Espeon and Amphoras. See, they helped me out awhile back, though I never got the chance to thank them properly."
He'd make sure each of these three paid. He'd start with this guild. He was sure they didn't know everything that those three had done. Of course he couldn't come out right and say it. But he could publicly thank them for silencing a problem he had. He was sure a good upstanding guild would want to know what he meant about that. And he could sneak in something triggering for Ruric as well.

Lucy nodded, "I understand. That sort of determination can be a great motivator."
In fact, most folks who join this guild are motivated by loss of some sort. Even H. And that's why it's hard to turn away potential recruits. But even so, they still have a long way before they can be full fledged members.
She held out a paw and said, "We'll see what we can do about your application... What's your name?"
While he can't be so quickly processed right now, having his name on file could help.
He would shake her hand. As far as he knew the Ghastly he was impersonating didn't have one. So he'd have to make something up here and now.
"I've been going by Shade recently. Unfortunately one of the things you lose is your name. But I hope I can get the chance to help others the same way that I was helped." Keeping up the lie would be very difficult right now. He knew Lucario's could sense emotion so he had to be somewhat genuine when speaking with this one.
Still, his ire was on Ruric and the other two. He'd do his best to keep this Grey Warden guild out of it. But if they got in his way than he'd have to get rid of them.
She nodded and wrote down a few things after stealing just a few more glances his way, "Shade it is then. Alright."
She stuck a paw out with the intention of offering them a gair shake as she beamed, "Well met, and I hope to see you again soon."
For the time being, she seemed to be rather oblivious of his anger bubling under the surface. She was just taking him at face value. After all, what reason would she have right now to peer any deeper than she already was?
