Conceptual design project. The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. My 1:25 scale final set model.
Conceptual design project. The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.
'The Woman in White is Wilkie Collins' fifth published novel, written in 1859. It is considered to be among the first mystery novels and is widely regarded as one of the first in the genre of "sensation novels"'.'
Latex duck puppet head I created for my Prop Making unit. The head is made from latex, filled with upholstery foam and painted with acrylics mixed with latex. I created the duck by sculpting the head out of clay and creating a 2 part plaster mould around it. I then filled the mould with latex, left it for 3-4 hours to set, and poured the excess latex away. `The eyes are ping-pong balls painted with acrylics and coated with gloss. I intend to create a body from upholstery foam and hands from latex for him.
Oyster Pleasance Mermaids Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival
September 2014
Team Leader and Costume Maker
I led a small team of first year students to create the costume for Mami Wata, the African mermaid. The costumes were used for a series of performances across the opening weekend of Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival 2014.
This past month I have been working with RicNic on 'Hello Dolly!' at the Theatre Royal Winchester. I joined the team as a scenic painter and assistant to the carpenter. During show week I worked as stage manager and ran the show from behind the scenes. The set involved some complicated elements to build, such as the arches and rolling platform with trapdoor. It was designed by Lily German and built largely by Michael Woods and was focused around the 3 main arches which always stayed on stage.
Hello Dolly! ran from August 27th - 20th at the Theatre Royal Winchester.
I'm currently working as a scenic artist with RicNic Hampshire for their next production 'Hello Dolly.' Running 27th - 30th August at the Theatre Royal Winchester. Book online now.
My first attempt at scale model making for my first university project September-December 2013. My challenge was to create a model of my bedroom in the university halls. Some of the paint has since flaked away which has made me less inclined to use plastic in future.
I worked backstage managing stage left at Basingstoke Amateur Operatic Society's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. The production ran from Tuesday 25th - Saturday 29th March 2014 at The Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke. The production included a large set with a number of big set changes.
Bournemouth & Poole The College presents 'Mcqueen Dance'
I created a collection of elizabethan style ruffs for one section of the show. My brief was 'Circus' and as I had little time to create the pieces I decided to create statement accessories rather than full costumes.
Zorg the Alien hand puppet. Created with upholstery foam covered with green fleece.
A few photos from the set of La Passerella.
My finished costume in the final dress parade before the music video begins shooting next week. The third photo shows the entire collection of Audrey designs together.
La Passerella is an upcoming video for the Beau Bow Belles based around my university making project. This is the beautiful design by Bunny Winters I was assigned. My project was to make this dress as closely resembling the design as possible.
La Passerella is set in 1962 at an Italian salon during an upcoming designer's show. Each design is inspired by a fashion icon of the period, mine is inspired by Audrey Hepburn.
My final costume designs for the Restoration project. My design concept was 2014 as imagined from 1773, when She Stoops to Conquer was written and first performed. My research suggested that fashion wasn't predicted much change, so my costume designs are mostly 18th century period.
My set model for the Restoration project. My script was 'She Stoops to Conquer' by Oliver Goldsmith. I designed the piece as set in 2014, imagined from in 1773 view point. The walls were set on tracks and able to move and turn. They created three different scenes, The House, The Alehouse, The Garden and Kate's Bedroom. Steam would pour up from the grid as the walls moved.
My recent set design for a local youth production of Cats.
My scale model was a basis to work from and then I built on the design on the day of construction with the materials that were available to me. Cats was performed at Queen Mary's Hall, Queen Mary's College, Basingstoke from Thursday 20th February through to Saturday 23rd February 2014.
