Not my typical post, this is just a rant for my niche LoL followers and to show off a cool edit mostly.
But it needs to be shared.
Swain is getting a new legendary skin on WR, but, while i'm not going to talk about the poor level of detail compared to even just generic epic tier skin of girl champions, i want to raise an issue very dear to me.
They're slowly erasing all his disabilities with each release.
I know Riot isn't going to care about a champion with like 3 mains or so compared to any of the popular ones, and fairly so, but hey, if they are changing Mel' skintone after many raised their voice about it being too light, it might be worth the shot for this too, right?
There's not a single Swain skin besides his base look that has a legbrace like he's supposed to in WR. I never really complained about it. But one would expect that at the least his demon arm, which is crucial to his design & story, in his first Legendary Tier skin, would have some kind of spectacular importance, no?
No! Not even that! It's possibly the skin where his substitutive arm looks most similiar to his regular one and, while i'm going to eat the crubs they give me anyway and get the skin if i can, i found it so disappointing.
So I present you my take on it.
Look, it's not much of a difference and I'm not the type to whine about cosmetics on games, but yikes. It's disappointing for the only time we get something nice every 5 years and a little disrespectful for the ones that feels represented by their comfort characters.
1. Darken what is supposed to be his substitutive arm, giving it some swirls to make it cooler and match all the O decorations (hey, i get it. Scales / feathers can be boring, but you could play with so many designs instead of... smooth blue and golden claws...)
2. Give him a legbrace to match the costellation of his little wings
3. Play around with colors, a lot. It's a legendary, it's good if you want it to be sparkly, but at the least make it cohesive. The pants being the only black wasn't valorizing them, so i put it on the coat too. The purple of his magic couldn't be found anywhere else on the skin, and so I changed his inner coat to match it. Brightened the white and darkened the blue of his coat. I gave him those light blue hair because the blue-on-blue of the crown was blending too much (and because the bald look of it is just ugly to me i'm sorry 💔).
I would honestly be happy just with a change of his arm to recognize it's part of his identity as a character, and possibly the legbrace, too. The rest is just a design plus.
Considering that, again, they seem to listen to this type of issues like it happened with Mel, maybe sharing will get his disabilities back❤️
