What are Alistair's feelings for Russel?

multiple and complicated Alistair is emotionally constipated and incapable of understanding/naming his own feelings most of the time

he's also quite convinced that his attempts at helping anyone but himself always find a way to backfire and cause more harm than good, so he's kind of giving up on trying,

or when he wants to help, he finds a way to twist it and present it in a way that makes it look more like he's trying to get something out of it rather than offering genuine help, so that he won't feel guilty if anything goes wrong

But he does care about Russel, quite a lot. He doesn't want to lose that man who keeps chasing after him, forgiving him and indulging him no matter what he throws at him. When given enough time, Alistair realizes he doesn't need to keep that wall of sarcasm and pettiness he's build to keep their bond from becoming too intimate and tender, and he does get drunk on that new feeling of letting go and getting mushy mushy with that other guy. He's found a friend, an accomplice and a lover!
