I'm delighted when people interact with or reblog older posts of mine and I don't have a problem with notification spam so no need to be shy ! I often roam around tags and such and find older posts from other people as well so I hope no one minds lol
I'm also a professional yapper and overexplainer so not many short posts here and probably a good chunk of social awkwardness instead
English is not my first language so grammar might be off at times.
DNI Henr*y shippers, no matter if it’s only when Henry is an adult or you make AU’s for them or whatever. If you ever interact with that ship in any positive and uncritical way or indulge it and it’s shippers stay away from me and my blog !
So how does the R.A.D actually work ? In terms of what happen to the Missy's and Henry's that basically get replaced with our versions of them ?
Are their AU versions just put on pause in the meantime ? They do return to the cartoon universe and Vampverse a few times, and in Vampverse time clearly continues and the story progresses and changes beyond what Missy wrote in her stories in general. It's also stated that the R.A.D does fill in missing pieces with bits of reality. And we know that other realities do exist in Dangerverse...
Personally I like to think that once the R.A.D is used it just creates a whole new universe based on what is fed into it.
So does that mean Missy and Henry switched places with their other selves and that the AU Missy's and Henry's were having existential crises over in canonverse while our versions of them had their whole adventure ?
Did Vampverse Missy and Henry go back to their own universe in between and where then left to deal with a whole army of vampires after they came back for good?
Did Mapleverse Missy and Henry get sent back to their base and wondered where the heck their Japser went ?
I guess the only AU Missy and Henry that would know what was going on and have their environment left as it was would be Stacheverse Missy and Henry...
Of course the alternative to that is the stories remaining stories and only being active realities when the R.A.D is turned on and the source information is hooked up or saved on it, but that's kind of boring to me
we've seen mapleverse hensper and stacheverse hensper, i need to know wha the deal is with vampire-verse hensper.
actually scratch that i need to know what the deal is with vampire verse henry in general. we know he's around, we know he's kid danger still (?) and fights crime with missy--or will fight crime with missy, with them teaming up once vampiper kidnaps missy's sister.
but its just. the vampiper of it all??? henry loves piper, i think its fair to say shes the most important person to him even, and she's a vampire now. how did it happen? did he know? was it too late? does he feel he failed her? did he try to reach her, the girl he knew and loved, his little sister, and when he couldn't, did he give up? is he still trying? is he desperate for a cure?
i just noticed that miles is the only df kid whose suit has reinforced shoulder straps, with those little soft spikes/bumps/grips(?) scattered across them.
which is a very interesting detail, considering how often his teammates grab onto miles' shoulders so he can teleport them away.
now i'm thinking about it being an intentional part of the suit design- purposefully making it slightly easier to grasp onto awol's shoulders so he can get his team out of danger without the delay of someone losing their grip and then needing to re-establish the contact needed for teleportation.
and also awol's suit having the most cushioning on the shoulder straps would probably ease the potential strain of people constantly needing to quickly grab his shoulder in urgent situations.
Last time I watched Danger Force I actually noticed the same Material but on the side of Bose vest. I can't think of a way that that or the rest his uniform corresponds with his powers though.
Chapa has a lot of metal and zippers on her outfit that the other kids don't have though, so I wonder if that could be used as some sort of conductor for her ? Like maybe to not accidentally zap herself and make the electricity travel to the ground to her reinforced boots instead or something ? Let's pretend her uniform is made out of material that doesn't conduct well and this is about reducing the force of the zaps and redirecting them over her body if they get reflected and hit her since the zippers are on the shoulders and sides of her vest and her pants also have metal all the way to her boots.
For Mika the only thing I can think of is her collar that sort of looks like it could protect her throat ? I can imagine the power off her sonic screams being really harsh on her neck and this reducing potential damage if their frequency gets too high
okay this question is going to sound mean but it's from a place of genuine interest and i just don't know how to word it better. what do you see in henry/charlotte as a ship? i know why you don't actually ship them in canon but you do see some potential in them, why is that? asking because we seem to feel pretty similarly about both characters but i don't ship them at all and you like i guess the concept of them as a ship? and i wonder where that difference between us comes from. maybe i'm just too diehard henry/jasper, idk, but i am really interested in your thoughts on henry/charlotte as a potential ship
I've seen how beautifully you answer people's asks, and this is... not that. At all. I tried answering this without veering off into a million tangents or getting too headcanon-y. I also failed completely. Disclaimer: not good grammar, I will go back and edit this one day. Actually, I think this answer is kind of unhinged and bordering on drivel, so I'm really sorry. You deserve better.
I don't think your question sounded mean at all, I got a good laugh out of it (laughing at myself, not you). This is such a hot mess response. If none of this makes sense, my one paragraph answer for why I see Chenry potential is 1.) friends -> lovers slow burn set up in earlier seasons, 2.) similarities in character 3.) such familiarity that they are more married couple than emerging romance, and 4.) trust/devotion.
My Chenry potential comes from seeing a trope that's like best friends -> something more? To me, Charlotte and Henry looked like they were being set up in the same way that other kid TV shows seem to do with BFFs. Do I see romance in the first season? No, and they don't see each other that way either.
But from the start and right through to the finish, Henry and Charlotte are shown to be comfortable and very in sync with each other. There's the ridiculously cute "Hen" and "Char" that are used primarily between the two of them (Ik others use them in the musical, and Jake uses Hen as well, but it's mostly Henry-Charlotte). I think things like the "ewww -> hey!" in The Bucket Trap are cutesy things to look back on and be like...well, well, well.
Charlotte serves as Henry's impulse control the entire show, and when he listens to her, it usually turns out well. I (maybe headcanon) think Charlotte is one of the first people to treat Henry like her own personal superhero TBH, she screams for him and he comes running. Would he do this for anyone? Probably. But I still see it as unique.
The first time I think I got future romantic vibes was in the Time Jerker. One could argue that Henry is a loyal and caring friend who would relive the same day for Jasper too (and I agree! he would!) But the plotline was Charlotte's, so I lean that way for this episode.
Putting in a line break because I start pulling from Season 5 down here.
I also think (and maybe this is getting too head-canon-y), that the two of them are far more similar than what meets the eye. You've said it and I agree: Charlotte is to Henry what Henry is to Swellview. Charlotte seems to have a good read on Henry's anxiety and neuroses. Henry goes to her constantly for advice, calls her the second something goes amiss. You I believe had the enhanced image of their group chat in Grand Theft Otto, where she says he's freaking out, at the end of Captain Drex, she tells him not to freak out.
(Maybe headcanon?) I think Charlotte is also an anxious Annie, she just has much better impulse control and plans the heck out of everything, and because she is so competent (and probably worked on therapy and meds to survive school+work), she always seems to have a solution. I think she can empathize with being a worrier (maybe not to the OCD-levels poor Henry is subject to, but she gets it, I think).
I think they both have a sense of heightened responsibility (Charlotte from babysitting this whole damn group, Henry from being parentified at home) and often act as (Jasper in early seasons) and Ray's parents together (I don't remember the ep, but there's a scene where they are explicitly trying not to get Ray to do something that would hurt and Charlotte straight up says to let him do it so he would learn). Actually, I think they're written as so familiar with each other, constantly in each other's space (literally have had their hands in each other's mouths, compliment each other's teeth, know each other's bathroom habits, turn and say "Spurt!" at the same time) that it skips past the romance and throws them into the old married couple category, bickering and all. They're less hugg-y as they get older, but I think they're still close, it might just be the awkwardness of age.
I love that Henry has a goofy little enamored grin when Charlotte does things like claim Ray's burger, zaps people, sings like an angel, etc. I love that Charlotte says she's team Henry in Jam Session and that he's very responsible in Sick and Wired. I love that when Charlotte asks Henry to promise he's not gonna try and kiss her in IDOD, he cuts himself short and doesn't fully promise (one of the funniest moments in the series for me, actually, as he reaches out with his head turned and asks, "is this you?"). I love that Henry is fast enough to stop Charlotte from killing Jasper over grammar and has learned how to get her to calm down without telling her to calm down of course.
I think it's interesting that Charlotte is the one who is ready to leave at the beginning of the end, and she's also the one who is ready to die and literally says "I'm not leaving you!" I think there's layers to this. I (headcanon) think the writers gave us crumbs of any and all ships lol.
I think, tangential to canon, there's hurt over Nickelodeon pulling dumb stunts like this to bait people who liked the ship and garner viewers. There are still videos on YouTube that are labeled as Chenry on the official channels that came out AFTER the show ended. I also think racism is a factor to be completely honest. Nickelodeon isn't super huge on interracial couples (True Jackson, VP is the only one I can think of in recent years, and that wasn't a Schneider show). I think these factors make Chenry fans see potential/ship harder.
Also, thank you for acknowledging that I can't ship them in canon, because I think things started to change around season 3 and continued to nosedive for these two. I think I'm rambling like a maniac right now, but basically, there's one post I can't find by another person who said Charlotte and Henry's relationship ends up turning into "I knew you when you were a boy," and I so agree. Charlotte was so faithful and enduring I feel like she was taken advantage of and assumed to always be there. Ultimately, Henry was down such a shitty path I don't think he was capable of being a good partner to anyone. Not Charlotte, not Jasper. No one. Praying he gets therapy and is happy after his brain matures post-25.
I notice you seem to ship Chenry. Is there any reason you feel that way? Most people really like Hensper from what I can tell, and no hate, but Henry and Charlotte always gave off really good friend vibes to me.
hi anon! If you want a long answer, I've got one here. And if you want a short answer, it's that to me, Charlotte and Henry are so familiar with each other that it didn't doesn't really look like young romance, it's more like lived-in, familiar, bickering couple who've been married for 30 years. They spoke and moved in unison the whole dang show. I also think they were hella in denial about any feelings they had and probably shoved them down.
I agree that Chenry doesn't give off the same vibe as Hensper, which is a different type of devotion (I Know Your Secret). Imo Jasper's openly hitting on Henry in later seasons and it looks like Henry struggles with internalized homophobia to me, and that is extremely compelling in its own way. They have a lot of romance-y behavior (The Hug, you promised we'd grow old together, I love you while folding napkins, just the looks they give each other are adorable). Also, the movie if you've seen it is literally a Hensper breakup. I appreciate Hensper.
This isn't directed at you per se, and it's actually not directed at anyone on here because Tumblr is very, very sane and chill compared to other websites, but I feel like if Charlotte acted the *exact* same way, same lines, same everything, but had a White or even just a paler/mixed complexion, there wouldn't be as much bafflement over Chenry.
I also can't ship Chenry in good faith in canon bc Charlotte deserves to not be disrespected at every turn by four men and occasionally her bff's little sister, who is also in theory her friend.
I'm team get Henry into therapy bc that boy/man could not be a good partner to anyone.
i think the fact that jasper believes in and has faith in henry in the movie (he’ll be here, he assures the detective) whereas henry seems to have forgotten the faith he had in jasper (even when jasper keeps saving him over and over) is just so!!!! gahhh
The way Jasper doesn't question Henry when he is back and they have their dinner talk even after the way he treated him...
He doesn't ask him to elaborate or demands answers, he doesn't ask why Henry suddenly has to move out of Dystopia even if he was initially upset with Henry just moving out of their apartment. He knows Henry well enough that the change in attitude means something big happened, and he probably also knows that if Henry doesn't tell him directly it's not something he is ready to really talk about yet but he accepts this and just trusts Henry and what he says without prying further, even if he has a right to as his partner and roommate because all of this affects him as well.
Henry's probably had this attitude and crappy behavior towards him for a while and yet Jasper still believes in him and trust him even when they are fighting and while Henry's immediat reaction to the fight and Jasper being fed up for once is believing their friendship is over...
And it's not even only our Jasper either- Captain Stache remains totally calm about the whole "this is a fictional universe" thing and believes when Henry tells him that Schwoz isn't the guy that Captain Stache captured a while ago despite Schwoz literally admitting to it by becoming hostile over it. Sure this could be just Captain Stache being dimwitted, but I like to think even though this isn't his Henry he has complete trust in him regardless and believes that whatever he is trying to do must be the right thing to do.
And Mapleverse Jasper literally follows not-his-own-Herny to a whole other universe to fight vampires and pulls a dramatic heroic sacrifice and says all kinds of things full of devotion and love in between...
The trust and faith that Jasper and every other version of him has for Henry is what Henry is confronted with through the whole movie to the point where he just can't talk himself into denying it anymore. I don't even think he forgot in the first place, I think he just wanted to make himself feel better about the way he treated Jasper and also push him away emotionally because he himself isn't in the mental position to deal with all the complicated feelings he has about himself, Japser and being a hero without acting like a jerk.
This is so random but I refuse to believe Charlotte's only friends her age were Henry and Jasper (since Piper explicitly said in the episode "I Dreamed Of Danger") cuz there is just no way realistically she's only friends with two white boys 💀💀
"the danger begins", our intro episode to henry hart. where he almost immediately jumped into "i'm not great at anything. [...] i'm just a big pile of average."
"escape room", our intro episode to mika macklin. where henry asks who she is, and she answers with "i'm the smart one" instead of her name.
the way the faint warning signs are there from day one, before they ever put on a mask. the subtle overlap of identity issues.
henry having nothing about him that he sees as noteworthy, nothing to define himself by.
(give that kid a mask and a secret identity, let's see what happens-)
mika defining herself first and foremost through the roles she's filling.
(give that kid a mask and a secret identity, let's see what happens-)
anyways i'm absolutely convinced that mika has always been the df kid with the greatest chance of following in henry's footsteps by losing herself to the mask.
love that at the end of the movie, when henry introduces missy to canon verse jasper and schwoz, they talk about how she’s ‘met them before’ and jasper knows enough about henry to know that henry was totally jealous that captain stache could fly because it really makes me wonder what exactly henry told them about the reality hopping they were doing.
henry and jasper do seem like they’re in a better place even though it was due to off screen resolution—or partial resolution, because they might still have some ways to go lol ik henry actually leaving dystopia and not even discussing that with his partner first might lead to it being a whole other unspoken hurt that might show up again later—but i do think henry still has a hard time with showing how much he cares when it comes to words in particular. so we don’t know what exactly was said, aside from what we saw in the diner, where henry says some stuff along the lines of “you’re a good friend/sorry i didn’t see it before but i do now” and “i have to leave dystopia and i know i can cause it has you” which is so abrupt and random from jaspers pov even if he does soften for henry
(henry and jasper. eternally adoring each other even when they’re at odds…henry please deal with your internalized homophobia and your other issues please you’re putting the painful kind of distaster in disaster bi)
and yeah, jasper finds out eventually from henry that he went on a reality hopping adventure but does he get the bare bones? does he get the “alternate you helped me and missy get back” or does he get the details. does he know alternate jasper died? i don’t think so. because i think jasper dying for him also scared henry probably into another ‘im gonna repress this’ which is another factor to why he leaves, distancing himself so he doesn’t lose the people he cares about, so they could be safe, so they’d be alive even if he sees them less and less
in my delusional happy ending heart tho, hensper talk it out, schwoz builds a door or smth (think zeta-tubes from DC) in henry and missy’s base that connects to dystopia so henry goes home to jasper every day and they’re able to help each other out when they need it
in my less delusional heart where they have to work on it, they’re doing long distance and getting healthier
