As you sat on the shore, chewing your lower lip and feeling sorry for yourself, you were trying to focus on the sounds of the lake to ignore the stinging pain in your knee, something you obtained while trying to make your own way to the lake.
Your sister and her husband only invited you out of pity, you knew that, she was a little miserable tending to you with your newfound burden. She had her whole life started, she just had a baby about six months ago and this was the first vacation her and her husband Adam had to have a little free time to themselves and now you were tagging along like some sick trade off, your Mother watching the baby and your sister watching you, her newly blind younger sister.
You had thought your life was ahead of you too...Now everything was reduced to a dizzying blur of colors and dim light, the doctors unsure if you were going to be permanently blind or not after the accident.
University had been going well, you had your running to focus on, the whole reason you had gotten in, and one lapse in judgement had changed your whole life.
There had been a party, typical University stuff, but one slip into a pool as a few were too drunk caused you to hit your head, almost drowning.
As you sat by the lake it wasn't water you were afraid of despite having fallen into that pool two months ago, it was being this helpless forever, to never run again, that's what scared you. Your body didn't feel like your own, movements felt unsteady, you couldn't trust your legs to carry you without your eyes working properly.
But, this morning, you needed something, to just get away from the presence of pity that radiated from your sister, you could feel her bitterness too, so on your own you slipped into a bikini, used your hands to find a beach blanket, and wandered down to the lake, trying to do what blind people do and count your steps and use your ears to find your way, you had been mostly successful except for tripping over what you assumed was a rock, skinning one of your knees.
You felt your chest rise and fall with a sigh, trying to shake off the feeling of pity for yourself, your hands beginning to feel the sand around you, your mind imagining a sand castle...
Taking your dog Bonnie for a morning walk, you couldn't sleep anymore, your head felt like it was buzzing, buzzing with that feeling you got when your fuse was short and you had a point to prove.
As you got to the edge of the woods you immediately spotted someone sitting alone on the sands, your lips pulling up slowly into a smile at your luck of spotting a little birdie all alone...
Pulling Bonnie to a halt, you pulled the binoculars from your pants pocket, keeping your distance and having a little look at who was out here all alone. As her hands patted at the sand, making badly shaped mounds, you looked over her petite frame, her brown hair covering her face at the moment, the color of her hair reminded you of dead leaves.
"Cute set of little tits.", you say to yourself as you scan her body in the black bikini, your voice making Bonnie let out a loud bark beside you as she clearly wanted to greet the stranger.
At the sound of your dogs bark her head snapped up in the direction of the noise, giving you an opportunity to scan her face, seeing a smattering of freckles down the bridge of her nose, her bird-like fragile features, her eyes...Her eyes... Something about the way they moved seemed off, as if they weren't her own.
"Oi, go and greet the little bird.", you say to Bonnie, patting her and letting her off leash, the big dog immediately running down and barking as she galloped towards the girl.
You couldn't help but chuckle as you watched, watching the girls head turn in the direction of the barking and scrambling around on the beach blanket as if she were afraid. Her hands came up, out in front of her, your dog Bonnie growling playfully but making no move to attack.
It occurred to you that the girl on the beach was blind.
You took your time walking down, watching the girl cowering on the blanket, Bonnie barking and prancing around her, "Oi, Bonnie, that's enough.", you finally say, smirking as you now stood in front of the girl, your dog immediately obeying and going to your side.
"Making sandcastles?", you ask, gesturing to the mounds of sand, noticing how she doesn't even look over at them because she didn't see your gesture.
You can see her wariness, maybe even her pride, as her head turns up in your direction and up close she's quite pretty.
"I was.", she finally speaks, clearing her throat, "Your...dog? It frightened me."
You gave a laugh, "Oh? I'm sorry.", although of course you weren't, "Bonnie, she's little and harmless. All bark.", another lie.
She bites her lip, smiling a little, her useless eyes, the color of chestnuts, searching.
You look over her again, her body, enjoying you can get a good view without her knowing. Your head tilted as you notice the scrape on her knee, the blood still bright, "You're hurt?"
Her expression falters a little and she shifts, shaking her head, "Oh, I'm okay."
Was she pretending to not be blind?
It almost made you scoff.
"So, how long you been blind?", you just ask outright, bending over her and waving a hand in front of her face, watching the muscles twitch ever so slightly at feeling the air from your hand, her eyes blinking and filling with an anger that amused you.
An indignant noise left her plump lips, "I'm-", she wanted to deny it, "That's not something you ask someone.", she ends up saying and you could tell by her expression she was debating on getting up.
You could help with that.
"That knee looks like it hurts. Let me help you.", but as soon as you said it she started scrambling around, shaking her head. At that point you reached down, putting an arm all the way around her so you cupped one of her tits, feeling her protesting as you haul her to her feet.
"Don't touch me.", she whines, her hands clumsily feeling your jacket and then pushing at your arms which immediately snaps something in you, making you snarl and grab a fistful of her hair.
"Listen here you little braille bitch!", you hissed, watching her lower lip tremble and her hands trying to free her hair from your grip, "You're the one who's out here on your own, anything that happens is your own fault for being so fucking stupid."
That made her go still as your harsh words obviously stung, the reality of the situation crashing down on her as you give her head a shake by her hair, watching her freckled nose scrunch in pain.
Bonnie gave a bark, startling her, those blind eyes not sure where to search. You laughed, giving your dog a glance, "Go play in the water, you fucking bitch.", and like a good dog, Bonnie obeyed.
You turned your attention back to the girl, you didn't care what her name was, you didn't care to know why she was blind, it simply made her amusing and vulnerable. A slow sigh left you as you bring your free hand up, tugging gently at the top of her bikini strap, "Little blind birdie...", you sighed, feeling her flesh tremble as you cupped her tits, a pitiful sob of a plea leaving her lips as you feel her supple flesh, your cock stirring in your jeans, "So stupid...You should be in a cage...Away from the wide wicked world..."
Running your hand from her chest, down her stomach, the muscles tensing, just as your hand reached the waistband of her bikini bottoms it just as quickly pulled away, "BRETT?!", roared out a voice, causing you to look over, Bonnie letting out a bark, and the girl startling in your hold, her eyes wild now in their search as they were full of tears, "Brett, what the fuck are you doing?!", your Dad snapped at you, storming down the beach.
"Fucking Hell...", you muttered to yourself, pushing the girl down into the sand, you wanted to watch her wince as she fell but you turned to look towards your Dad who was still marching over.
"Oi, Dad...I was just... chatting a friend.", you say, putting on a grin, and just as you turned to gesture at her you watched as her teeth bared, sand flinging from her hands in hope you hit you but it just lands on either side, her fighting back was pathetic to you.
You winced a little as your old man slapped you in the back of the head, your breath hissing in, "Breakfast has been ready, your Mum is having a fit.", your Dad huffs before looking past you at the little blind birdie who was scrambling her way back the way she came the best she could.
He shook his head, looking at you again before roughly grabbing your arm, hauling you across the beach, "Bonnie?!", he called, but you looked, the dog didn't move and that made you smirk while he wasn't looking.
"Bonnie?! C'mon, girl!", you called out, the mammoth of a dog bounding across the sand. You gave one look back at the girl, watching her, determined, frightened, her arms out in front of her as she gets away.
Eventually your old man let go of your arm, huffing and muttering to himself as you follow along back home. At the top of the trees you pause, seeing a car pull up along the path and parking, a pretty woman with short blonde hair that hung in curls getting out, "Oh, Steve, it's so pretty here!", she gushes, your eyes raking her over much like you did the blind girl. You looked towards the man getting out of the car, a cocky smile on his face, 'Cool sunglasses...', you think to yourself before catching up to your Dad to go home.
