Iām here for the Drama š
In honor of recent events, hereās some Okarun Aira posting! (Bonus polydan)
Aira deserves everything, even when she canāt get itšāāļø Iād love them to be weird but dependent on each other. Unrequited but openly communicated but still a little what are they from an outside pov? Something atypically romantic is happening here. Thatās fun to me.
Thanks, Akane.

Spy x Family but like this š„“
You know how elevated fandoms would get if we openly discussed stuff like Nightfall's emotional motivations without questions about shipping coming in because this has absolutely nothing to do with shipping. I just can't help looking away from how happy Twilight looks in Nightfall's imaginings. She's imagining their wedding and she doesn't even see herself smiling. Of course she would be happy if it happened (it won't), but the focus of her own fantasy is his happiness.
And what I'm trying to say here is that if the genders were reversed, if Twilight was a woman slowly building a relationship with a guy she's fake married to, and Nightfall as a guy came strutting in, all confident that he'll win her heart and make her happy, fully prepared to dedicate himself to her, with her and her happiness as his top priority, the fandom would be drooling over him. Think about how many love triangles are created because a confident broody guy appears who is willing to fight for his female beloved's heart even by steering her away from the one the fandom first shipped her with. Think about how many of those "dark, broody men" become fan favourites and blorbos. But the moment this happens with a woman we're ready to crucify her - even when the narrative itself wants you to sympathize with her.
Like, I'm not saying y'all should love Nightfall right the f now. But fandoms are weird in a way where they prioritize shipping and are also much more critical of female characters than they are of male characters. And Nightfall is the perfect victim for this combination... and it's just so sad because the narrative doesn't want you to do that. It doesn't want you to compare the two ships because it makes it clear that her fantasy is a dream that will never come true. There is no ship comparison to make because there is no other ship. It doesn't want you to hate her because it gives her traits that show that her true motivation is respect for Twilight, the guy we're supposed to connect with and root for - respect to the point where she doesn't even consider lying to him to get in his good grades.
Nightfall's story is not about her being the "annoying hypotenuse" or the "deceiving, seducing vixen"... it's currently tragic. She dedicates her entire being to make herself worthy of the man she's in love with, and that blinds her to what exactly he truly finds worthy in another person. So she ends up being the exact opposite of that and giving him a 100% wrong idea. And it's also, ultimately, not what will make her happy. No-one becomes happy by dedicating their entire being to becoming perfect for someone else, we become happy when we're accepted for who we are.
And idk Nightfall is an amazing flip on such tropes and it's done so simply that I honestly wish to see more of her, and to see her grow and realize where she's gone wrong and to try and focus on her own happiness. A happiness she can reach by being honest to herself first and foremost, and by not being aggressive towards people she thinks are being "obstacles" on her way towards it.
(anime only here, don't spoil me for the manga)
I guess my problem with how Fiona is portayed is that she's constantly ridiculed and deemed as pathetic for her love for him
And how in general we are fed the idea of how being in love with an emotionally unavailable man is something shameful, and a waste and laughing stock. (Itās not emotionally effective but it isnāt shameful).
If you are not appealing to a man then thereās absolutely no other value that matters. Even if you are remarkable at other aspects of life. The love of some man is a reward and his indifference a punishment for not being a walking male fantasy.
Anyway... I guess Iām asking too much of a male author lmaooo

Long day for her.
I love sayaka I cant wait to see her suffer in walpurgisnacht rising!!!!!!!!!!!
During Tokyo Blade, Aqua essentially did the same thing Akane did when she tried to get Kana to perform to her full potential on stage. Akane challenged her to a direct duel by creating a Sayahime vs Tsurugi situation, and then Aqua DID THE SAME. And the only reason it worked was because Aqua was the one Kana wanted to be watching her acting all out. āLOOK AT ME MORE!!!ā
Man, Akasaka is such a coward, he should have just embraced the yuri instead of repeating the same method, with a male character that time around, because that's literally what he did š¤£

I love Akane so much, and I thought of making a fanart of her.
In the manga, Ichigo admits to Miyako that he knows Aquaās mental state is on the verge of collapse and that they should keep an eye on him. Miyako, on the other hand, returns to her role as a manager with the goal of looking after Ruby. However, not only do none of those things happen (itās Akane who ends up watching over Aqua and who saves Ruby from Hikaru when he approaches her), but we practically donāt see them have a single meaningful interaction with the twins until AFTER the movie shoot is over and the manga is about to end.
Maybe the anime can fix that? I donāt know⦠with an extra scene or something like that.

Akane's plan: Kill Hikaruāmost likely claiming self-defenseāand put an end to the whole thing without any further casualties.
Ichigo's plan: Kill Hikaru, no time for bullshit, he would have gladly gone to prison and be done with it. Also, no more casualties.
Aqua's plan: Make a movie Hikaru doesn't give a shit about (he is already dead inside), to supposedly convict him of crimes for which he cannot legally be imprisoned (as Akane said) and wasting everyone's time. Also, it gave Hikaru time to kill another innocent person, Yura.

Iām so sick and tired of toxic fans trying to turn everything into the trauma Olympics just to prop one character up while tearing another down. Saying āUnlike Akane, Kana didnāt succumb to despair and was able to stand up in her ownā ignores the very BASIC fact that their situations are not even remotely comparable. Kana feared what might happen if a scandal broke out, while Akane actually lived through one in real time. Her apology scene with Yuki being cut was a deliberate move made by the adults of the reality show to manufacture a villain for ratings, and Akane paid the price for that. Prolonged online harassment, people at her school turning on her, strangers sending her death threats like they were confetti.
Kana panicking over a possible future headline that never materialized (thanks to Aqua) and then recovering the same night is a moment that only works within the context of her own PERSONAL experience, but one that loses its meaning when we try to compare it. Itās like praising someone for standing tall before the rain starts while mocking someone else who got caught in a hurricane, beaten down to the point of near-suicide, and still clawed their way back to living. And itās especially telling how, when it comes to Akane, online harassment suddenly isnāt āthat serious,ā even though real-world artists like BTS have openly addressed how damaging that kind of abuse is to mental health. If toxic fans want to be that insensitive and still compare situations that clearly arenāt comparable, they should at least realize how ridiculous they sound.

This confession will be weird because itās ... kind of a hot take from me to myself from a year ago XD but here we go:
I've come to the conclusion that I might have enjoyed the anime's take on Aqua's character more if I weren't a manga reader.
A while back, someone made a post (I don't remember if it was on this page or elsewhere) saying that the anime was trying to show Aqua as more āmiserableā about the decisions he was making. As a contrast to the detached and cold attitude he had in the manga. And there were animated details in certain scenes of the anime that demonstrated this, such as:
His pained-frame-by-frame-expression after breaking up with Akane and throwing away his chance at happiness.
Him grabbing his hair in regret after manipulating Kana's feelings and going ahead with using her for Aiās movie.
His clearly sad face while spying on Ruby when she discovers that Aqua will be acting as their father in the movie (an anime original scene btw).
And yes, I understand the logic behind that decisionā to make the audience feel sympathy for Aqua by showing how much he didn't want to do the things he did.
But then it hit me: since I already know what decision Aqua will make in the end (and how that will cause others to suffer), what I felt towards him was mostly FRUSTRATION.
While most anime watchers react by saying, āI feel for Aqua, he doesn't want to do any of this,ā my reaction is, "Damn it, Aqua, you clearly don't want to do any of this, so STOP DOING IT. Accept Akaneās help, or let Ichigo kill Hikaru and take the blame (he was more than willing after Aqua revealed AiĀ“s secret, consequences be damned), or do literally anything else except what youāre doing right now because itās not what Ai would have wanted for you!!!ā
*sighhh* Yeah, this is the first time I've wished I hadn't read the manga first, so I could have enjoyed the experience of just watching the anime.
