If you feel like you can’t stop thinking about something, just go out there and try to do it. It may take rounds and rounds of failure, but if you stick with it, you will get there. Or at least you will realize that it wasn’t what you wanted along the way and you’ll get it out of your system. I think what is important is to accept and understand that you will still have to do things you don’t really enjoy on the road to doing what you love, you need to stay realistic and committed.

Vacation 2016: Day 1: I <3 U Tucson 

After almost 3 years of being out of the house I always find myself coming home to feel better. I have found that every 3months people reach their crazy/delusional tipping point with work and need a break. I usually rush home for some time to regain some sort of sanity. So, as such I rushed to Tucson after work in Phoenix to start the beginning of my vacation. If you ever been to Tucson you know most nights are great to go out or use to be from what I remember BUT Thursday usually pops it off. This Thursday was no different. 

I have no idea why I was so surprised  with what came of the night. What was suppose to be a night of going to listen my amazing friend DJ turned into a bar hop downtown! We started off with a Dillon Francis show. He was in town and playing at the Rialto. I am not usually a fan but that night he rocked out. I think there is something about playing at smaller venues that really places pressure on DJ’s to pull out all the stops and yeah, he did. 

From there we jumped ship cause it was hot as hell and not figuratively, lol. We walked across the street to Congress (a club that was only for the cool outcasts before which since my hay day seems to  be the “new” posh spot) to see Drab Majesty and Prayers, a cholo goth band from San Diego. I never heard of either of them until that night and loved it! 

Prayers had an 80′s vibe. Anyone who went to HS with me would tell ya I owned the 80′s look and yearned to be a part of it growing up. Scrunchies, yeah I liked em and what?! 

But seriously, I saw so many fans singing along and really vibin’; it was raw, untampered with and intimate. Sometimes the downside of becoming a mega star I would think is that those intimate moments are gone or are few and far between. It suddenly becomes something you have to actively look for or create. But who I am I to talk? Lol, I neither here or there but I have a feeling of such. 

After we watched Prayers we wandered the patio to see both guys from Drab Majesty just hangin out. So, naturally I sat with them to chit chat. Bold move Sandra, bold move. I can barely get the guts to talk to a guy I am crushin on and here I am makin conversation with musicians. I really know how to go from one extreme to another. Lol. We talked about my fav thing other than music, fashion and fun... Duh, food. I guess it should be my MOST fav thing since it is on Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs but, ehh. haha. I recommended a few must go spots and said they did great and let them enjoy their night. Cool guys for sure! 

From there I made my way to see one of my long time friends and an amazing DJ -- Pink RZR. If he ever reads this he will kill me for writing that but to me that will always be his stage name. Jose was playing at a bar a street or so down the way. We walked there and enjoyed the closing of the night. 

What was suppose to be a night to relax and have a few drinks turned into a night where I had the chance to explore my town again. I gained a new sense of  appreciation for all the beauty and creativity we have boiling in the Old Pueblo. I <3 U Tucson.

It's hard for me to find the right thing to write as Pasquale is such an inspiration to me ... The work he's done and what he has done to bring music to the forefront and unite people from all over the world is truly amazing. There is no judgement when your at a insomniac event, you are free to be who you are and everyone is there to experience the raw beauty of music. For me it's always a form of therapy. Music soothes, heals and rejuvenates. He provides us with a sanctuary. His work is undeniably for everyone attending, he works to make sure you leave with special memories with those you love and that truly is priceless. Thank you Pasquale for inspiring me to pursue my love of music!
