Things I’ve Said to my Puppy: A Starter Collection
“Man you’re awkward. I mean, ridiculously beautiful but damn, grow into yourself.”
“What the ever-loving heckin’ heck are you eating now?”
“Excuse me sir, you can’t read.”
“You really have that ‘I don’t know how I fit into the world’ vibe about you.”
“That’s not polite.”
“You don’t even rise until you’re addressed. I’m digging your obedience.”
“Sit like a gentleman.”
“That’s not yours, friend.”
“That’s right. Listen to me and pretend to have an idea of what I’m talking about. I get that a lot.”
“I didn’t pay all this money for you not to be a cuddler.”
“Wanna go for a ride?”
“Show me your cop face.”
“I’m not a fan of you licking my teeth. Please don’t.”
“Okay; we’re done here.”
“Oh no, the postman! How ever will we survive now?!”
“You’re gonna be rude? Okay, you’ve lost the pleasure of my presence.”
“The piano isn’t evil, it’s just unpleasant to hear when I’m touching it.”
“Hey neighborhood watch, what’s going on with the town today?”
“We really don’t need to—oh we’re peeing in the garden now, that’s a thing.”
“I draw the line at shredding things.”
“What the heck is going on with your teeth?”
“No, you’re not helping.”
“We’ve all pooped. It’s your turn.”
“I’m not saying I don’t believe you, I’m just saying I don’t see anything.”
“I know you’re a blanket snatcher but you can’t snatch this blanket.”
“Oh, you want to help?”
“Leave him alone, he’s just trying to take a walk.”
“Right, right, defend your castle.”
“I wish I looked that beautiful having no idea what’s going on.”
“How do you get one?”
“This is not what I asked for.”

‘ i’m so glad we were born during the same lifetime! ‘
amanda lovelace’s, the princess saves herself in this one / accepting / @owlit
the hand clapped on his shoulder jostles him familiarly and stays, a familiar weight. what starts as a greeting and akaashi suspects will end in either excited nonsense or tired complaint given the timing, is a stark neither.
instead of an immediate, temperate response, akaashi stills for a beat.
this morning he would have been confident in saying that anything bokuto spikes his way would be easily accommodated and countered. it comes as a REFRESHING realization that after two years, bokuto can still take him by surprise. that there are still more things to learn.
bokuto is not shy with affections or admiration with his friends, he already knew — but for an indeterminate reason this particular truth feels potent. it flushes his cheeks, not unlike the hand on his shoulder warms him. before he can catch himself — or really, just allowing himself the freedom — a smile lifts the expression of shock into a subtle fondness.
of all the existential things akaashi does turn over in his mind in the course of a day, it hadn’t really occurred to him that if the butterfly’s wings had flapped differently somewhere along the line that this might not be the case. a world without bokuto koutarou is not one he ever wishes to partake in. a bright, yellow sticky-note is added to the front of his mental filing cabinet: be more appreciative.
“ it is a mutual gladness, bokuto-san. ”
i really need to update my themes and rp icons but hhh
pining Akaashi is my shit

this day has stretched the length of a week, and that week has been a busy one for him, at that. one might forgive if his patience runs shorter than usual and even so, he doesn’t ignore his captain.
bokuto never goes fully unacknowledged, even if perhaps there are times when akaashi might wish he could pay less attention.
under no circumstances does bokuto present himself a bothersome thing to tend to — but considering wide-eyed staring doesn’t seem a particularly pressing matter — akaashi feels no shame and pretending not to notice.
Do you know why I love lots of threads with the same person? Because if on a particular day I have no idea how to answer a thread, having multiple threads allow me to keep playing with a wonderful person no matter how my brain is an idiot. So yes, no matter how much threads we have together, just keep on sending stuff if you want. You’re never bothering me.

it isn’t every day that iwaizumi finds a member of the royal family in the bushes, much less anywhere near a plant in this garden, probably for fear they’ll get stung by something or end up covered in dirt. honestly, he can’t say how many times he’s saw one of the suitors walking through the garden with some member of the royal family and they walk around him, the other staff and the bushes and trees like the dirt is just going to jump up from the ground or off one of the staff and onto their very expensive clothes.
he would be lying if he said that he didn’t find it amusing, and if he hadn’t experienced a small laughing fit from it on more than one occasion. in his mind there’s nothing wrong with a little bit a humor here and there.
who is he to disobey what his majesty is telling him?
iwaizumi pretends as though he isn’t even there, and goes back to his work while the woman walks up to him; he’s seen her around more than once — she’d sneak him some pastries during dinner hours once in awhile. in his eyes, that women is a saint so he feels bad for having to lie to her. “i think i saw him earlier, he was heading in that direction, mumbling something about having to meet with someone, but i didn’t catch anything else.” he gives her an apologetic look.
she thanks him regardless and heads off in the direction he’d pointed her in. part of him wishes that it were oikawa that was missing, because iwaizumi would rat him out in a heart beat. oh, he’s right there. behind those tress, how could he be avoiding his suitors? my heart goes out for them.
once he’s sure that the queen’s hand maiden is out of earshot, he calls down toward the direction that the prince had gone. “she’s gone for now.” he pauses for a second to wipe some sweat from his forehead. “also i’m sorry for pulling at your hair, denka-sama.” iwaizumi bows, holds it for a few moments before he returns to his work, trimming one of the trees, hoping that there weren’t any more of the royal family hiding in them.
the entire exchange is over rather quickly but keiji holds his breath for the duration of it, palms pressing against his thighs in subtle nervousness. gratitude relieves the pressure in his chest as the gardener — hajime, evidently — announces the coast is clear.
the honorific flattens his mouth into a line, gaze flickering away to the nearest tree as he is bowed to. if his cheeks flush pink as well, there’s nothing he can do about that. “ don’t mind, ” he nods his acceptance of the apology; allows his eyes to flicker over his co-conspirator briefly and analytically. tanned, well worked, symmetrical features, no distinctive similarities to anyone else he knows which makes the familiarity unsatisfying difficult to figure out. any time that the prince has spend in the garden is usually at night, after the staff has finished attending to upkeep and the likes.
most attribute that, as well as his cool demeanor and dry remarks, to him being above it all but he just prefers to be alone with his thoughts; has no particular taste for the heady royal treatment nor the misunderstandings. it’s exactly why he had taken such a liking to kenma, really; why akaashi keiji insisted that only kenma remain as his personal chamber-assistant, so to speak. keiji liked to do things for himself, usually by himself.
“ — and just keiji will do, please. no need for all the honorifics. ” his arms move behind his back, one hand folding into the palm of the other comfortably, shoulders a little less than what his father would consider perfect posture.
he hums quietly and then bows himself, offering a polite, “ thank you, hajime-san. ” it is in poor taste, perhaps ( especially considering he is not aware whether or not hajime is a given or family name ) — but keiji figures it is rightfully owed and again, doesn’t care much for the stark lines of his noble upbringing when it comes to such things. while the honorifics he’s tackled with never sit well on his shoulders, he never seems to stray from adding a heady dose of his own respect to other’s. kenma is an exception to the rule. “ please do pardon the intrusion, ” he adds, referring to where he is has taken refuge and that this man probably has more claim to the actual space, despite akaashi’s family owning the castle.
once he straightens he leans against one of the nearest trees, content to hide away from his princely duties here for a while longer. one of his hands makes a reappearance from behind his back to brush the side of his nose, smearing dirt across his cheek; the leaves remain unperturbed in his hair.

——— POP !!!!!!! ❛ crap, no !!! ❜ never mind how this was initiated, but she had been in it to win it. that very dedication had proved to be her downfall, for the moon bunny had tried too hard to make the bubble bigger TOO QUICKLY. pink gum clings to her lips, blue eyes wide & cheeks puffed out. she can’t believe it ——– he won !!!!! ❛ dang - it !!! ❜
his own bubble bursts with the gentle prod of a tongue and returns to its home between his teeth without a sticky detour. patience, it turns out, really is a virtue that leads to victory.
whether it be his modesty or humble honesty, bragging does not become anyone in his opinion. thus he doesn’t attempt to loft his victory over her but offers a hand to shake. good sportsmanship is important for a vice captain. ❛ it was a valiant effort and for that you can be proud. if it is any consolation, i sort of detest this flavour of bubblegum. ❜
yumkies.
with a gentle smile she hands over a towel and a bottle of sports drink she’d just got finished preparing. the entire team looks like they need a break, they’ve all been practicing so hard lately in order to make sure they’re prepared for all of the matches.
“please, don’t forget to hydrate. the last thing we need is bokuto in dejected mode because out first string setter is out with dehydration.” ( @citycwl )
quick use is made of the towel; akaashi swiftly wipes the sweat from his face and the back of his neck before draping it over his shoulder to free his hand for the sports drink provided. a small nod of thanks is offered as payment before he takes a moderate swig.
she is aptly prepared, as always but yukie’s kindness does not go unnoticed. his gaze slides back from where it had taken to surveying the team and rests on her again. there is a second nod for acknowledgement and akaashi makes a mental note to refill his bottle with water once it’s been emptied of sports drink.
fukenzena.
after mentally identifying it as her wallet, yukako took it from the mans grasp. to ensure that nothing was taken out of it while it wasn’t in her possession, she opened it and inspected it. ❛ thank you. ❜ nothing was gone.
once her wallet was out of sight, yukako’s eyes looked the man up and down. she’s seen him before, right? ❛ what is your name? ❜
emptied of the found item, his hands fold themselves politely out of sight behind his back. callus things, they are. not particularly pleasant to the eye after the abuse of practice has had its way with them. ❛ it’s no trouble, ❜ akaashi insists, not unkindly and mindful enough to keep the breathlessness from his voice.
his eyes do not skirt away from her face but do take in identifying features to catalog for later recollection. she does not seem familiar to him. ❛ akaashi keiji. ❜ he provides dutifully when asked and offers no further, uncertain whether it is necessary or not.
