Ce n'est q'un début - Alexander Robotnick
I discovered this one when I was curious about italo disco. to be honest I find italo disco to be a bit boring, but when I heard Problèmes d’amour I was hooked! he actually has a release with like ten different versions of the song, which honestly could have been cut down to like four. I do think the best version of the song is Problèmes d’amour (USA Original Version). idk why a USA version exists but okay???
it’s very short at 28 mins with just six songs. Dance Boy Dance is a slower track with a lot of whispering, that amps up towards the end with a burst of frantic screaming! I also love the vocals on Hola Macci Kola. the title track is pretty good but African Kola is usually a skip for me :/
I saw a bunch of comments on Problèmes d’amour on YouTube describing it as a classic, but I’m not sure to what genre? there were a few comments about house music, so maybe that!
my all time favorite industrial album… Tom Ellard put his pussy into this one for sure. it opens really crunchy and gritty and then gets super synthpoppy and catchy with 4wd! I’ve heard someone describe Now An Explosive New Movie as “evil New Order”. and Goodbye Tonsils is like a sound I can’t even describe…
the first time I listened to this I went back and listened to it three more times. then three more times the next day. it’s super addictive, it’s got just what I like! crunchy industrial sounds and catchy minimal synth. my first true love… and it inspired the name of this blog :>
