When putting up a multichapter work on AO3, sometimes the author's note for the first chapter will show up at the end of the work? Like, it was meant to be the endnote for only the first chapter, but after the second chapter's published, it'll have the author's note for the second chapter AND the first chapter. I don't know if I explained it quite right, but it seems like a common enough problem that I think you know what I mean. How do I make it not do that?

I do know what you mean, and I’ve experienced it myself. It’s also listed in the Known Issues for posting works. From that page:

Can't add chapter notes and summary for first chapter: The boxes to enter a summary and beginning and/or end notes for chapter 1 won't appear until chapter 2 is posted. (The summary and notes boxes on the work posting form are for the entire work. In particular this means that any end notes entered here will be work end notes, attached to the end of the last chapter of the work.

So it looks like you need to post a second chapter to a work before you can have a chapter note on Chapter 1. If you’ve already got two chapters posted, you should (theoretically? I haven’t done it recently enough to remember how I fixed it) be able to edit the fic to remove the fic end note and put it back in as a chapter end note. 

If you’re wondering about other Known Issues on the Archive, there’s a link in the footer on every page for the site. It can make for some interesting reading - and answer questions like this that I knew were a thing but I didn’t know were A Thing. 

Also, a friend of mine just tested this out and it seems like just having an existing draft for Chapter 2 will allow you to add the chapter note on Chapter 1. So maybe try creating a second chapter with a placeholder text and saving it as a draft - might be a good workaround?

I need a specific fic where mullet era Stan does a whole lot without batting an eye that has everyone stopping and looking at him like hes crazy.

I need this man to pull a gun out without batting an eye in the middle of Gravity Falls street, where everyone can see. Him casually picking things off the floor and keeping them- heck- eating them.

I need him to do things that are normal to him, normal to people hes been around- I need him not to bat an eye when someone is having some very public sex ("they're in an alley, Ford, what else did you expect?") Or when someone pulls a weapon on him to rob the store.

Even better if no one knows he was homeless until some 'big' reveal where Stan casually mentions living jn his car. Its so casual Ford just nods before he processes it

Introducing: the Stanford Font

After many hours of tedious work, I can finally share with you my recreation of Ford’s handwriting in Journal 3!

Have you ever wanted to be able to make your own Journal entries and make them look authentic? Perhaps you just want to write “I love you” in Ford’s beautiful, sweeping lettering? Now you can!

It’s in no way perfect, mainly due to my complete lack of font-creating experience, but I did my best to make it as accurate to the Journal as possible! Below is a quote from the page labeled “July 18th”:
