spoiled rotten - cj & emilia
sawdrenched:
“Well,” Emilia popped their own piece of candy, crunching firmly into the jolly rancher with razor sharp teeth, “You’re new. New is interesting.” New was dangerous, new made Cavity a liability. The stretched and let their bones produce a soft pop! Besides, Reagan would be beside himself if the new kid on the block was going to cause him problems. Man already had to deal with a zombie boyfriend, it couldn’t get much worse for him.
“Besides, I like your aesthetics.” Not a lie, Emilia had a fondness for sweets, some would argue it went above fondness and was an addiction. Fond sounded much better. Sugar was distracting and cut right to the bone and won out over the burning of their throat and lungs. “I just wanted to make sure you’re settling in with everyone all right.”
It wasn’t fun being the enforcer; but they were going to do this job right. Make connections, form bonds. Bam, instant loyalty. It was an exhausting pattern, an equation far more complex than ‘draw, write, sell book’ or ‘kill a man, make money’. The job meant being everything Rusted Mask was not:
Decent.
“Sooooo, soooo soooo Cah-vi-teee!” They stretched the syllables of the Villain’s name like taffy, excitedly slapping both hands on their knees as they leaned forward, “Mind showing me your candy stash?”
It was a euphemism, not a dirty one, but one that played at a far greater question; what is your power set?
Hard candy bittten with one bite. Her kinda person. Perhaps she had found some sort of real kinship in this group of people. Could she get used to this kind of attention? Of course she could. All she wanted all her life was attention, didn’t matter what kind. Good, bad, it didn’t matter.
Jury was out on what kind of attention this was.
CJ pulled at a piece of her taffy hair, pulling it over her shoulder. The artificial banana flavor, wafted off of it and felt a little bit comforting. It was easy to say she had gotten quite used to her body’s new... modifications. “Thanks I do too.” Not like she had chosen the aesthetics, but she couldn’t lie they felt more like her than she had felt in her old body. Cj flashes her own smile, ringed by her candy apple red lips. “As far as everyone else....”
She looked around at the breaking villains, all in their own little pairs and groups or elsewise not in the room. Cj really hadn’t had the chance to take to any of them, really set up the groundwork for lasting working relationships and things like that. She was still quite new to this. As was pointed out before.
“I’m sure I’ll get along just fine.”
Then the question.
“Depends on what you mean” Cj wasn’t an idiot she knew what she meant but this was way more fun. To lean in and flutter her eyelashes at what was presumably one of her new bosses. “I’ve got such a wide array of sweets, you could just... Take your pick.”
She picks up her pen, allowing it to change into a candy cane. She twirls the arc around her finger and begins to suck on the end. Before offering it to Emilia, “But only if you want a taste.”
