what sucks so much about having avpd is that avoidant people cannot demand anything from others, as it’s against their nature. confronting others about their own concerns, whether it’s about their disorders or otherwise, is a huge No-No.

and i realize that, it’s this specific reason why i don’t ever see awareness posts for avpd on here. no one with avpd wants to get up and demand respect, and i understand that. it could mean the risk of being pushed under the rug, ignored, or – worst of all – rejection or criticism. it’s scary. i know a lot of us have been walked over all our lives, and asking for things only resulted in drama, or even abuse.

anyway, i’m here for the avoidants that want respect and recognition for their efforts to strive in this world, even when they can’t ask for it. i’m here for the avoidants that clam up when they have a simple concern in a classroom, the workplace, within their families that is never addressed out of fear.
