I rarely ever write on tumblr, but I’ve decided to break down that wall today. I didn’t believe in monthly celebrations before. I thought they were too sickening and if you loved someone you didn’t need to showcase it all the time. Then I realized after being with her that they matter more than ever. It isn’t for the sake of showing the world, but it is for the sake of reminding us that we are special to each other every day. She was going to be away for a couple of days in China at a printing factory. I wasn’t upset with her gone during our 6 months anniversary because I was also hired by her company to work on this seasons catalogue. Work came first at this point of crunch time. Luckily I managed to finish my end of the project and cleared up other freelance work, leaving me some time to relax on Sunday. I made plans to eat dinner with a friend yesterday night at a restaurant that was only available to friends at the moment before it’s opening. I got there after a series of searching for its hidden doorway. After a while of waiting I got a text from her that said “I miss you, happy 6 months!” I was about to text back, when suddenly someone hugged me from behind with the most familiar scent and said “I’m sorry I’m late, happy 6 months!” She surprised me by rushing through her work, then taking the tedious bus ride back from Shen Zhen just to spend this night with me, then ride the bus back the next day. I was overwhelmed and so surprise I couldn’t respond and took quite a few minutes to put myself together. I’m not that type of girl who needs flowers and pretty gifts to be swooned. But she did bring a preprint sample of our work. That pride from our fruit of labours was already a gift. As her presence was the most special gift of all. This woman has changed my life and made me a better person in the last 6 months. She’s the best girlfriend anyone could have, and I’m the luckiest girl in the world to have her by my side. She is part of my day to day, and I hope she will be for a long while.
