dragonaea:
with a flick of her head, she lets out a soft chuckle at the pink haired soldier. seems as if the other is at least skilled enough in combat that she wouldn’t slow the dragoon down. a brow quirks slightly at the downed daemon, another quickly running to take it’s place. ❛ at least you won’t drag me down. ❜ booted feet rush forward, her lance slicing through the next few daemons with graceful ease. careful to avoid the blood/scourage, she glances back at the soldier. ❛ avoid the ooze! now–let’s go! ❜
It was almost laughable, the warrior having thought she’d slow her down -- Lightning scoffed as she watched her fight off the last remaining daemons in their current quarter. ❛ -- Right. ❜ Giving a firm nod, she quickly followed suit, avoiding the ooze as she was recommended and keeping up with the womans pace until they could find a place to take cover. When they did, she turned her attention to her newfound ally. ❛ What the hell is happening -- ? ❜
lockedfighter:
”Are you… blushing?”
No way, she couldn’t be. The second she said that however, the Soldiers face went back to its stoic nature which only left the barmaid grinning playfully. Usually it was her that was the stuttering mess around the other–had the tables turned? Linking her hands together in front of her, she put on her best doe eyed look, ruby hues piercing before canting her head to the side. Tifa Lockhart could put on the charm when she wanted to, she just didn’t necessarily realise how good she was at it… yet seeing this side of Light made her get a flash of confidence. “Maybe I need to make comments like that more often…”
❛ -- What ? No. ❜ The accusation even further embarrassed the warrior, resulting in a quick turn of her head; her attempt to shield her expression with rosette strands. When Tifa leaned closer to analyze the woman’s shy features, Light turned her back entirely, arms crossing firmly over her chest. ❛ I don’t think so -- ❜ She did her best to fight the compliment before clearing her throat and fighting against the brawlers try of affection. ❛ What’s gotten into you, anyway ? ❜
chezqah:
❝ I can do that and we accept Gil don’t worry. ❞
Tifa pulls the rum off of the shell, some of her better stuff. If this girl was willing to foot the bill, she deserved the better stuff. Or at least that’s how Tifa viewed her customers who didn’t actually specify what type of rum they were expected.
❝That’ll get you six if you want that many. ❞
❛ Sure, just keep them coming. ❜ Doing her best to keep her mind distracted, Lightning stared at her fingers which were nervously tapping on the bar counter before she finally let out a frustrated sigh. The barmaid had most likely grown used to miserable customers, so Light did her best to keep her attitude in check, despite the circumstances. Her eyes scanned the bar out of boredom as she waited for her drink to be served, then as she caught sight of a nearby photograph, she squinted and placed stern focus on the individuals within the frame. ❛ That man. Is that Cloud ? ❜
lacrymas:
" whenever you’re in trouble, won’t you stand by me? “ // @clairais | lyric sc
❛ You don’t have to worry about me, Serah. I’m doing this, to make sure I can keep you out of trouble. ❜
ofgunblade:
“Fine next time I’ll just let you die.” a lie more than anything but he’d do it again. Shaking his head he slung his weapon over his shoulder and stared at her for a moment. Hold her back? Yeah right if anything it’s her fault her got hurt int he first place. A small shrug as his feet began to carry him.
“If you don’t like my situation you’re free to leave me to die you know.”
❛ Are you always this unbearable -- ? ❜ Leaving him to die was not an option, as he was the only ally she could find in the mix of the chaotic mess that was the gods war. Perhaps he was more frustrated with their circumstances than he was with her, she could understand and respect that much, but his attitude was starting to get under her skin. ❛ Look, I’m not thrilled to be here either. Gods thinking they can toy with us without our consent. But pinpoint your anger elsewhere. I didn’t put you here. ❜
kingstactician:
Confusion was the first thing he felt when he opened his eyes. The surroundings were far from familiar. Instead of the smooth stone that had been under the tent he was against jagged stone. Managing to get to his feet he paused for a moment. Towers, in the distance. Something told him he was no longer in Eos. He listened for the sounds of any sort of vehicles but only silence greeted him.
“By the six. Just where was I sent. Noctis needs me.” Of course his Prince would be on his mind. He was worried just what had happened? He could feel the gravel crunch under his shoes as he began to walk towards the Towers. Perhaps they would give him some sort of clue of where he was and why he seemed to be utterly alone.
❛ --- Hey, you! ❜ The saviour wasted no time to call out to the wandering foreigner; clearly, he had to be -- Meandering his way towards the chaos without knowing what dangers lay ahead. She jumped off the stoned wall and landed flawlessly on armoured feet, a mere few feet in front of the man. He was a lone traveler, and didn’t appear to be a threat -- Nor was he attired in the cities security uniforms. Her eyes wandered, scanning him from head to toe before she reached behind her back to take hold of the hilt of her sword. ❛ You got a death wish or something ? No one’s walking in here willingly right now. ❜
doctrinae:
❝ How does it feel the be younger than me? ❞ He gives her a question rather than an answer as he isn’t sure how he feels. She once stood taller than him and now she reaches just below his chin. That sentiment alone was enough to make him smile. ❝ I’m glad you were able to make the trip over here on such short notice. ❞ He hesitates to offer taking her bags because the Lightning he knew would reject his offer. ❝ I hope the train ride was uneventful for you. ❞
Instead of asking to take her bag he shoves his hands in his pockets and begins walking her to his car. ❝ Serah said you were thinking about moving closer to where she lives. If that’s the case my door is open for you when you go house hunting. ❞ He only offers as he knows that sharing a small one bedroom apartment with her sister and her new husband would probably drive Lightning up the wall. ❝ Did you want to grab some lunch? ❞
That was right -- Not only had Hope grown taller, he managed to age past her. A fact she would find difficult to face, as it would take some getting used to. She merely laughed off his comment, not really humouring him with a response. It was as clear as day that she felt it to be a little strange, to say the least. ❛ The trip was fine. I’m always traveling for my job, anyway. ❜ Lightning was always comfortable with her independence and ability to tend to herself, so she hadn’t given it a thought that he wasn’t reaching out to take her bags. Instead, he began to walk and so she happily followed. ❛ I’ve been thinking about it, but if I live close to Serah, I live close to Snow. ❜ It was a toy at the mans character, since she accepted him into her family, yet couldn’t help but remain easily irritated with him from time to time. ❛ Thanks, Hope. I’ll let you know when I decide -- ❜ When the topic of lunch was mentioned, she glanced up at the young man and gave a slow nod of her head. Incredible -- He was driving, offering to tend to meals. Yes, this was definitely something that would take some getting used to. With that being said, Light wasn’t used to going out with company for meals, so she automatically assumed it would be a quick stop before heading to his apartment. ❛ Something small is fine. Where are we stopping ? ❜ Once they made it to his car, she stopped to take a noticeable stare. Hope was doing well for himself -- She was impressed, proud even.
whatever doesnt kill me is gonna wind up real dead real fast

well, at least she took advantage of his offering. that was all that mattered. some warriors were too proud to accept any form of aid. clearly, she knew the difference between reason and foolishness. he figures it’s the adrenaline laden rush which sharpens her tongue, puts her on edge, makes her so damn combative. it’s residual vitality from her fight, channeled into wit and backtalk when it should be routed towards healing. knowing this, he needn’t worry much about her survival. that coolness of her demeanour could easily crack when necessary, revealing the contrast to her bark ( her opponent’s wounds were proof of her bite ).
❛ mhm. ❜ it’s a half-hearted answer at her spat, but he does listen. it’s his back which confronts her voice. his hands still busy, carefully working along the felled corpse, sinew is artfully strung into rope with hide repurposed. occasionally, he’s clapping hands together, ridding them of their rusted tinge. once finished, he’d be able to cleanse his palms of dust and all else. he’s conscious to avoid the blood, as it would make him a target for keen noses and jaws later — should he be careless.
now, he asks, eyes over the left shoulder, obscured by his fringe. ❛ … and, are you looking to head back ? ❜ of course she was. what sane foreigner found solace on a world meant to consume or destroy her ? crafted by Cocoon’s grand and sheltered majesty, he assumes she carries some bitterness towards the worlds below. she’s a soldier of some sort, so she does not bear the same vulnerability as a typical citizen would ( they would have been bloodied and dead before they could utter the word Behemoth ).
❛ you’re in no condition to be wandering around on your own. ❜ he sighs, considers his next words, knowing he’d be greatly hindered should he choose to tag along. she’d likely refuse — but a life was a life, no matter how stubborn, and they all held ample value. facing her fully now, he leans onto the mass behind him, staring skyward to take note of the time. freshly noon. sticky, humid. but there’s plenty of time to plan.
❛ you didn’t stitch it, did you ? you’ll heal up faster if you do. ❜ he reaches for his pouch to retrieve a canteen. the cap is twisted, a sip is taken. he then tips it, swapping hands between each decant to properly cleanse his palms. ❛ stop being so stubborn. there’s still good people in the world, y’know. not everyone’s out to get you. ❜
In midst of tending to her wound, Lightning would peek up from her leg to analyze what exactly the traveler was doing with the corpse of the beast they killed. Though curiosity was not enough to boldly ask, so she remained quiet and brought her focus back to her bandaging. Although she failed to aid her wound with the proper stitching, she managed to cover it flawlessly with a tight pull of the cloths loose ends. When the man then asked about where she stood with her traveling between both worlds, Lightning sat in silence a moment, briefly falling into thought --- Would she be able to return home ? Could she live to fulfill her focus and have the ability to live again --- ? Doubtful. Though she’d be damned if she didn’t try. ❛ It’s a little more complicated than that. ❜ It wasn’t a matter of landing on the feared world below, and making her way back home. She was branded, her sister was in stasis; And that thought alone forced her to snap out of her weakened state. She was wasting time sitting and conversing casually with a man she did not know. Still, he proved to pose no threat and was kind enough to offer her the materials needed to aid her wound. He was now showing concern for her well being, despite having known one another for no longer than a mere few minutes. Despite how closed off she preferred to remain around strangers, she would at least offer gratitude for his benevolence. ❛ Anyway, thanks. ❜ Light spoke just loud enough for him to hear as she began to carefully pick herself back up onto her feet. Ten minutes was long enough to be sitting back doing nothing. Still, she wasn’t foolish. Those few moments of rest were not entirely wasted, having regained just enough of her magic to ease the pain caused by her cut, and prevent the lesion from bleeding further. The palm of her hand, which was now glowing with ravaging magic, rested upon her outer thigh. She could feel the tension ease slightly, and allowed a quiet gasp to escape her parted lips as a response. Lightning used her magic without concern of her companies reaction. His theory that not all people were bad -- That not all people were out to get her, it would be tested with her nonchalantly using L’cie born magic.
❛ Got it covered. Here. ❜ Bending forward, the woman scooped up the tools he lent her, then marched forward with her arm out to offer them back. ❛ I’m headed south. ❜ She stated firmly, sharp blues locking with his. Lightning then turned her back and began to move forward, her direction given to him as an unofficial invitation, should he choose to follow -- She learned to give others a chance, thanks to her newfound allies; but made no promises to lower her guard. Fact of the matter, If the man wished to join and could keep up and stay out of her way, she wouldn’t fight to company. If she were honest, traveling Pulse alone wasn’t exactly desirable; especially against the battle of time.
With each passing second and every step forward, Lightning followed the growing feeling of longing and desire that were viciously tugging at her heart; Guiding her further down a path that would lead her to what she longed for the most. A final reunion with her sister. To look into the eyes of the one person she fought all her battles for, and see her live and well. It’s all and everything Claire wanted. Since their arrival in the new godless and free world, she searched for and followed the light that bonded blood, until this very moment where her pursuit would finally come to an end.
Familiar shades of rose caused her heart to skip, as the glow of morning light shined behind the petite silhouette of her sister. Almost instantly, her lips curled into a smile and glistening blues flickered through the rays of sun. Quickly, Light stepped forward, hoping her sister would run to her as she was almost frozen in the image of her alone. ❛ Serah --- ❜ The bag she carried was dropped to the floor without a second thought, and both arms lifted to welcome the girl into an embrace. Everything Lightning fought for -- Everything she endured; It was for this moment. Should their bodies entwine, she feared she would never let go. @vitriss
