ryan always assumes he’s the smartest man in whatever room he enters. that’s his eternal downfall. it should have been a blaring red flag when your first argument was because he made a minor spelling mistake while typing. you had pointed it out and he just flew off the handle. it scared you a bit. but at the time you figured maybe he was just a little self conscious. you were no song writer but you could imagine having your work criticized was no fun.

as time went on he proved arrogant and stand offish. he absolutely hates when you call him out for his mistakes. no matter how little the wrong doing he takes full offense at being pointed out as such. and he will start an ongoing issue of course. ryan was unreasonably petty in the best of times.

he’s so awful and mean about it too. ryan grabs your shoulders and shakes. “use. your. head. y/n”. he lets go with suck force you stumble back a bit. “not like you have much up there to work with”. he mumbled under his breath.

you don’t remember what he’s upset about this time but you’re sick of it. sick of all the nasty comments,violent reactions and rude jabs towards your character. enough is enough.

ryan never saw it coming. you’d forgiven him even in the worst of times. your friends constantly told you that you deserved better but ryan was always in your ear causing you not to listen.

it’s insane how fast he changes his tune when you stop answering his calls. he started off berating you,calling you a bitch or whatever mean name crosses his mind at the time. he made fun of your weight,your past, anything he could say to break you down.

it never worked though. over time you’d grown a thick skin due to how prone he was to fly into fits of rage. you had no choice but to keep living your life and leave ryan behind.

over time ryan starts to grow more and more erratic. he is losing sleep , he can’t focus on the music shit is hitting the fan. he finally bites the bullet and comes to apologize.

in true fashion ryan shows up at your job, tail between his legs. or he hopes it comes across like that. even now, after you’d hadn’t spoken to him in so long, he is conjuring up a way to get revenge on you.

“look..i’m really sorry y/n. this music shit has been stressing me out . still..i shouldn’t have taken my anger out on you”.

you don’t even meet his eyes. “okay ryan”

he takes a step closer,holding his hands up in surrender. “i know you don’t want to talk right now but”-

“okay ryan”. you reply not allowing him to finish whatever stupid shit he was about to say.

“please y/n just listen for a second. i’m sorry for-“

again you interrupt him with the same two words. “okay.ryan”.

ryan is seething. why is it so hard for you to accept his apology? he’s giving you all he has after all. he storms off angrily. two can play at this game.

four months go by. ryan is a mess. he stopped eating and leaving the house all together. his fellow band members have stopped by multiple times hoping he isn’t dead.

“i can’t call in another wellness check on you ,dude. you need to get it together”.

ryan shuts the door in brendon’s face. he’s a shell of the man he was once all desire had melted down into despair.

“at least take a shower you fucking stink”. his friend calls through the door.

maybe he had a point. maybe he needed to clean himself up and show you he changed. so that’s what he did.

ryan spent hours making himself into the man he once was. he shaved his beard and took a long steamy shower.

it took him a while to find you. you’d moved jobs since then and moved apartments too so it seemed. so much had changed while he had stayed stagnant. ‘could this be rock bottom’ he found himself wondering as he trudged back to his car.

defeated , he made his way to the closest liquor store. there was no problem a little bit of wine couldn’t solve.

“ryan”?

he spun around at the sound of your voice.it took all his willpower not to draw you into a hug. “y/n. hi..” was all he managed to say.

you seemed happier. there was a light behind your eyes he hadn’t seen in so long. “soo what are you doing around here? this is kind of far from your place right”?

“i was just in the area”. he paused “while im here i just wanted to say how sorry i am for the way i treated you. i can’t believe you put up with my bullshit so long..you deserve better and i want to give you better”.

he hopes your awkward smile will turn into a warm happy expression instead you avert your eyes. “yeah it’s all good. water under the bridge..guess i should be going”..

“please y/n. i truly am sorry for what i’ve done to you. what will it take for you to forgive me”? he’s almost crying now. “money ? i can give you everything i have”. he takes the money from his wallet and shoves it into your unsuspecting hands.

“i’ll beg on my knees if that’s what it takes”.

ryan falls to his knees,bowing before you. tears are falling down his face as he exclaims “i love you y/n. i always have. you’re the girl i want to marry we can have that wedding we always talked about. let’s go to greece tonight ill pay”.

by now you’re beyond uncomfortable,unsure of what to do.

“i know i fucked up but give me another chance. i swear i can change, hell i have changed so much the past couple months. let me show you”.

as if on cue a man appears at your side ,wrapping his arm around your shoulder. “what in the world is going on here”?

ryan’s heart breaks into even smaller pieces than he knew possible. you’d gotten over him..and so easily at that.

“it was nice seeing you ry”. you wave , whispering something to the man beside you.

YES YES YES he'd be so bold i think he's just terribly cocky and can't control himself or his attitudes at all. jaime is sooo sassy in real life so i really feel like he'd be a "go big or go home" kind of guy with affection. doesn't hesitate to kiss/grab/tease you in public but executes it really stupidly to where he does eventually feel a little embarassed by himself. he's such a major dork. let's be honest.

with the guys around it gets harder to contain but he'll let it slip once and a while. Ben Shapiro voice....hypothetically let's say....

if you were hanging out with the band, he'd probably shove uncomfortably close to you in the backseat of the car....,when eating at in n out (they're too poor to go anywhere else and YOU KNOW IT) jaime would do the same thing, cramping tight next to you in the booth while vic sits across from you completely oblivious. you'd shake your leg absentmindedly under the table out of habit, and jaime, thinking you were nervous from being around him, would slip his hand on your thigh under the table. feeling blood rush up to your cheeks, you'd swat his hand away, thinking he was just trying to tease you. maybe he was a little worried, but the teasing wouldn't have been a bad idea too...

aside from misunderstanding cues like that he'd definitely be the kind of guy to boast empty talk. during late night phone convos, he'd talk about how rich he is, how many people invite him to parties, how nice his car is...

if every date option was either a fast food joint or walk around the mall without buying anything, you highly doubted he was telling the truth. you couldn't assume anything about the parties, but from what you know, he in fact was NOT at any of the parties you've been to (and it isn't like you hang around a different crowd). not to mention when he picks you up from said parties his car is an absolute piece of junk that's filled to the brim with crumbs and wires/amps.

but in the end what do you care? you find everything about him so endearing either way. he could try to puff out his chest for you and no matter how unbelievable it sounded you'd still fall deeper in love with him. how could you not? he was seriously too cute.

jaime would try soo hard to keep you a secret to the guys but it's just so hard :C ...if you have a date with him later, he'd try to leave practice a little earlier. he'd excuse himself with vague reasons that sometimes hint at a little more than intended. the other guys would ask him why he's smiling so much about his plans, and vic would add something cheeky, like "this girl must be pretty hot to have you cheesing like this, man." jaime would scrunch his face up at the comment (that's your sister, dude) but would quickly fix his face and forget about it, lost in his thoughts of you getting ready right now, all pretty for him tonight..."yeah man. she's absolutely beautiful...i think i love her. im serious."

to see if jaime had left yet, you'd peer through the door lightly (to not ruin your makeup... you were too excited and got ready early), you saw the conversation play out in real time. you beamed uncontrollably at his last words, wanting to squeal and crawl up and die in the best way ever possible. (HE LOVES ME!!!)

oh, and if you subtly hint it over dinner or straight up tell him you love him, he'll just shove his food further into his mouth and look out of your direction, mumbling a "thank you" and completely acting like he hadn't said it to his friends earlier....,,,EVIL JAIME DOESNT LIKE LABELING COMMITMENT BUT IS SO OBSESSED ON YOU!!

during the early stages of your relationship, you watched ryan rush out the door every morning with an empty stomach. sometimes he'd remember to grab something, but others he would forget to eat completely. you were so upset watching him leave every morning without a proper meal because you knew how hard he worked...so of course you took the liberty to make breakfast most of the time.

it was even better on weekends, where slow mornings seemed to drag until forever. you'd wake up curled next to him softly, watching the sunlight from the windows hit his eyes just perfectly. after endless cuddles and kisses, you'd both step out of bed, stretching slowly together. you're wearing nothing but his oversized tshirt and he's clad in his boxers.

he'd brew the coffee and you'd prepare the pancakes, singing your favorite old beatles songs together. while you stood at the burner, ryan would wrap his arms around your waist, pressing his chest to your back and chin on your shoulder. he'd watch your every movement with pure awe, sprinkling the chocolate chips in and flipping the pancakes gently. everything you did was with intent and love, and he'd never been more grateful for you in his life. he'd tell you too, whispering in your ear gently and stealing kisses down your cheeks and neck and sniffing your hair.

but on days where he did have to leave, breakfast was usually an easy fix, delicious bagels or muffins you had intentionally made the night before. after leaving with a kiss and a hug (or maybe ten), he'd be out the door, carrying his lunchbox you packed for him generously.

ryan usually doesn't eat lunch while he's at the studio, but ever since you started preparing meals for him, he literally savors every bite. aside from you making all of his favorites, you also always organize everything in containers neatly, decorating it on top with little notes of inside jokes and sweet nothings. ryan eats his lunch every day boasting to the guys about how good his food is and how much you love him (they're really jealous but never say anything).

don't even get him started on dinner!! there's nothing he's more excited about than to come home to the comforting smell of a mouthwatering sautéed dish (other than seeing you, of course). with every plate he can literally taste how much love you made it with and can never get enough. who could blame him for getting seconds...after a long day at the studio, all he wants to do is relax with his beautiful baby and eat something yummy. but on weekends, he insists on giving you a break, even if it means ordering out (or in).

some weekends were reserved for ryan spoiling you, taking you out to an expensive restaurant for dinner once and a while and enjoying yourselves. but most of the time, you’d find yourselves having couch nights - which were his favorite thing in the whole world. the saturday evening would start off innocently sweet, with him ordering from your favorite takeout place and curling up together to watch a good movie. your legs would tangle together as you lie on his chest swallowed in one of his oversized hoodies. you'd both be feeding each other chopsticks full of noodles and rice, giggling at him when you got a little on his cheek and kissing up the mess.

at some point during the movie you’d look at eachother knowingly, like you were psychically both craving a sweet treat. without saying a word, you’d have a race who could get on their shoes first, squealing as he beat you down the driveway to his car. soon enough, you were speeding down the highway to the nearest gas station (which was the only thing open at this hour). you’d both grab all the snacks you possibly could, which consisted of random bags of chips and candy, not to mention the biggest tub of ice cream they had. (also cheese whiz but that's not important)

as soon as you got home, you'd turn the movie back on and open everything, laying it all out on the coffee table and pigging out together. after a while, you’d be passed out in a sugar coma, spoon still in your hand as you lay snuggled on his chest. ryan found the sight so endearing that he just couldn't resist finishing the ice cream for you, not wanting it to melt (putting it away meant waking you, and no way in hell did he want to ruin moments like these). later he’d fall asleep as well, movie long forgotten and kisses on your forehead tasting of sugar that could never be as sweet as you.

other than being slightly envious of your obvious care towards ryan, the other bandmates have kind of noticed a change. ryan looks fuller, healthier, and happier, like he's finally grown into his tall figure and isn't just some lanky kid in his 20s. admittedly, you've seen how happy he's become too, and you can't say that it's not because of how much you bond over eating together. you love ryan soo much and would do anything to make him happy, and if seeing his face light up when you make his favorite dishes is what does it, you wouldn't change a thing !! ever since the awkward interaction with jaime, you begin to feel more attracted to him ever than before. although school was already kicking your ass, your newfound obsession didn’t seem to help. your afternoons supposed to be spent studying were instead focused on him whether you liked it or not. nothing could control your thoughts - almost everything became about jaime. as time went on, peeking through the garage door and reloading his facebook page every night wasn't enough. you needed more.

which is why elated doesn’t even begin to describe your reaction to finding jaime’s forgotten hoodie in your garage. that fall evening, you’d been practically drooling over him the whole practice as usual, taking note of how his forehead gleamed in the dim lights. you watched him hungrily as he pulled his worn navy blue hoodie over his head and threw it to the side. you thought he would have taken it on his way out, but when you saw he hadn’t, you swear you've never snatched something faster in your life.

you'd begin to wear his hoodie everywhere from hanging out in your room to grocery shopping. the faded navy blue swallowed you, the end setting right above your knees. even with his smell constantly lingering on you, you were desperately craving for more.

sometimes, when it was late at night and his facebook page was open, you'd even finger yourself to the thought of him. laying on your stomach, you imagined him lying below you, fingers curling up hitting that sweet spot that made you reel. his musk filled your nose as you buried your face deep into his lost hoodie. as indulgent as it sounded, you didn't care (for the most part).

some days you felt as if jaime’s scent trailing on you was sort of a bittersweet reminder of how strangely obsessive you had become. more often than not, you heard vic’s words from the first conversation replaying through your head on loop. you knew he was kidding in the moment, but the more you thought about it, maybe he was actually right - you were a loser freak.

at one point, you told yourself that this had gone too far. jaime’s faint scent drifted through your nose familiarly now, serving as a nudge for yourself that you actually needed to put yourself out there. maybe you should stop in and introduce yourself like a normal person instead of creeping around all day. …or maybe you could try a different approach.

so what if you stole jaime’s number off of vic’s phone when he wasn't paying attention.

it didn't matter in the end, because even you couldn't convince yourself to try and reach out. calling him was out of the question - you were way too awkward to hold a conversation. but then again, it wasn't like your texting skills were much better, as everything you typed always sounded too pushy or desperate. it seemed as if every message was left blank, his contact photo staring at you with empty anticipation.

which led you to one particular evening, finding yourself in the same situation as usual. laying on your bed curled up in jaime’s hoodie, you looked up at your phone with tired eyes. you opened your messages and clicked on jaime’s contact, the conversation like a blank canvas. you typed out a few words, trying to make sense of your thoughts.

you knew you had to be casual, but there was too much you wanted to say. too much you needed to say. you were desperate to tell him everything about you, how long you'd been watching him, how meticulous you were. how you wished he'd hum you to sleep with his pretty bass lines and caress you with his rough hands. you absentmindedly kicked your feet, enthralled at the thought.

just as you were about to type out something, your phone practically jumped out of your hands, ringtone blaring loudly. you were startled at first, but then sighed a little in disappointment of this interrupting your incredibly eventful evening plans of drafting and deleting unsent messages.

holding your phone to your ear, you picked up the call. “hello?” you mumbled, biting jaime's hoodie's strings.

“hey girl it's me!” your best friend screamed. “listen, i know this is super last minute but im on my way to a party right now…we’re, like, carpooling and i sorta told the girls that we're on our way to pick you up…can you come? please please please?” she begged over the blaring music.

why was she yelling? what time was it right now? what were you wearing? as much fun as a party sounded, this was a little too last minute for you. you opened your mouth to try and reason with her, but she cut you off.

“we’re here!” your best friend yelped, causing you to jolt out of your bed. you looked out your window anxiously to see her and a few other of your friends waving out of the car. well, it's not like you had any real plans tonight anyways. besides, maybe it was good to get your mind off of jaime (at least for a while).

“umm…okay, im coming!” you scrambled as you shuffled on a random pair of jeans and ran your fingers through your hair quickly in the mirror.

as you tramped downstairs, sprinting to the front door, vic watched from the couch confused. you struggled to lace up your shoes as he pointed outside, hearing your friends honking noisily. before he could say anything, you interjected. “hanging out at their place, might be spending the night, please tell mom and mike, i love you bye,” you trailed off, halfway out the door.

“what?” vic’s brows furrowed as he sat up a little. he was about to ask another question but it was too late - you were already out the door. vic shrugged back into the couch, stuffing his face with popcorn.

the party seemed to last forever, although after a few drinks you hadn't seemed to mind. the more sips you took, the more you let yourself go. at first, it seemed innocent enough, carelessly getting tipsy and dancing with your friends. but as soon as you were beginning to lose track of how many refills you were on, things went a little south.

you hadn't realized how wasted you became until your head started pounding a little more noticeably than usual. as you plopped down on the couch to catch a break, your “punch” swished over the edge, almost spilling everywhere. you sat up and caught your red solo cup in a blur, setting it on a table. maybe it was time to go home. you did feel incredibly exhausted.

but much to your dismay, the party seemed the exact opposite, the noise only growing louder and the house only becoming more cramped and stuffy. you rubbed your eyes and looked around for your best friend - or even anyone you knew and could ask for a ride home. anxiety settled low in your stomach as you noticed that you were instead surrounded by a sea of unfamiliar drunk teenagers.

after about ten minutes, a beat up hyundai entourage came into view down the street, approaching you rapidly. if it was speeding, this definitely couldn’t be vic, you thought to yourself. lolling your head to the side, you attempted to avoid eye contact with the car.

you pulled your knees closer to your chest and the neckline of your hoodie over your nose embarrassedly, thinking it was just another group of people who were arriving. your stomach churned thinking about vic en route, already knowing what the conversation in the car ride home was going to sound like.

but nothing could have prepared you for the conversation you were about to have. glancing up briefly as the car pulled right in front of you, you see the person you would least expect leaning out the window, giving you a cheeky smile.

of course it was none other than jaime.

“no, i texted vic,” you protested, taking out your phone just to double check. you read over the conversation once, then twice, noticing jaime’s contact name at the top. your mouth dropped a little in shock, not believing what you had just done.

jaime’s eyebrows raised in amusement as he watched your face fall in realization. before you were able to apologize, he excused you. “listen, don’t worry about it. just get in the car, c'mon," he urged.

you took a deep breath, the alcohol somehow giving you the liquid courage to stand up from the sidewalk. slightly stumbling, you walked to his passenger door and swung it open a little quicker than intended. it was just one car ride home…then this would all be over.

“you’re welcome by the way,” he commented as you slid into the passenger seat. glancing behind you, you noticed the mess of fast food wrappers and dirty clothes that lived in the backseat. turning back around, you snorted, noticing how the rosary on the rear view mirror contrasted with the unholy smell. as strange as his car was, you still somehow found it extremely endearing, giggling shyly at his input.

“..thanks” you mumbled, crossing the buckle over the faded design of your/his hoodie. he seemed to take notice of your outfit choice as he shifted the car into drive, pulling away.

“was wondering where that went,” he hummed, but he didn't seem bothered. still, your face burned up in embarrassment. he really did enjoy calling you out, didn’t he?

“this is yours?” you faked softly, too impaired to defend yourself. you blushed watching his hands grip the steering wheel casually, silently wishing they were on you instead. “i just found it in the garage.”

“mmm, keep it.” he cringed, drumming on the steering wheel. internally though, he smiled to himself, picturing your stomach doing somersaults right now. why on earth would he want it back? it looked cuter on you anyways. but acting like he was grossed out made it so much more fun. he drove up the street torturously slow, almost as if on purpose.

completely oblivious, you looked out the window, feeling yourself get queasier with guilt by the minute. secretly your heart was practically bursting at the seams at his words, but knowing he caught you makes your head spin. what's even worse was that he was definitely disgusted, you thought to yourself. the embarrassment mixed with intoxication, making your eyes droop shut.

you were certain there wasn't a more unfortunate yet lucky situation you could be in. it almost seemed as if the universe was undecided on you.

even with closed eyes, you could sense jaime give a few concerned glances to you before he shut off the radio, not wanting to be a bother. you guessed he dropped the playful act as soon as he picked up on how overwhelmed you seemed.

after a few moments of awkward silence, the car rolled to a stop. fluttering your eyes open at the loss of movement, you were officially ready to go home, get yourself out of this mess, and hopefully never talk about this ever again.

but as you took in the sight in front of you, you sat up a little. this…wasn't your house.

“hey, you okay? need any help getting up?” he perked up, unbuckling himself.

“where are we? is this…your house?” you breathed, head turning towards him hesitantly.

“...yeah,” he confessed, muttering your name. “it's too late to go back to your place. plus, we both know vic would be pissed if he saw you like this. he doesn’t even like it when im drunk,” he explained.

you blinked in disbelief as you heard his rambling (which sounded more like pleas than reasons). was he trying to get you to stay over at his house for the night? you felt like pinching yourself. as much as you were exhausted as well as intoxicated, you would be stupid not to say no to this.

“...okay. okay, fine. whatever. you're probably right.” you sighed, unbuckling your seatbelt. “just…don't tell him? or anyone?”

“please, i’m not a snitch,” he snorted, eyes softening at the sight of you so puppy eyed and innocent. of course you wouldn’t say no to spending the night with him. “let's get you inside, hm? i could only imagine how exhausted you are.”
