“Okay. I’m listening.”

Holding it tightly to her chest, Lissa glanced down to the old book. “There’s a potion in here, which can help a person heal wounds and broken bones from the minute it’s taken, for six hours. Longer, if they take additional doses.”

“Have you ever played regular chess? It’s literally that, but the pieces are enchanted and you tell them where to go rather than moving them yourself.” Harry shrugged at what he assumed was her intimidation tactic. “Sounds like a challenge. I was starting to get bored of the game anyway.” That was a lie. He’d been playing Wizard’s Chess for years and had yet to get sick of it.

“I played it a few times when I was in London,” she nodded, crossing her arms in front of her and watching the little characters looking around. “Rack them up then, I’ll see what I can do.”

“Oh, it was still Animagi? Perfect.” Logan breathed a sigh of relief, nodding. He had thought they’d moved onto something new, but Animagi were something he felt pretty confident on. “Although I’m now a little curious what you’re about to ask me to do.” He laughed.

“Do you play Quidditch or Quadpot?” she asked, opening her satchel and taking out her little notebook.

“And what experiment might that be?”

“I was hoping that I could find alternative ingredients to a certain healing potion.”

“Oh thank merlin.” She breathed a sigh of relief, flipping the page to the next potion, although she didn’t much feel like studying any more. “I should have just dropped potions, I think I overbooked myself this year. Although it’s so practical…”

“There’s not exactly much I can say in the way of advice, I never had to worry too much about doing a high amount of studying...”

Spencer scrunched her face up in thought for a moment. “Okay, and what does that entail?”

Clarissa took the risk with the younger girl and pulled a ratty, old book from her satchel. It was dated 1802 on the binding, and it looked like it had seen better days. “A couple of years ago, my parents had business in London, and because Lennox was too busy with his shop, they had to take me. Well, being the natural explorer I am, I took to Diagon Alley, and I found this. There’s a potion in here which, from the moment it’s taken, can allow a person to heal a broken bone or any wound, for six hours.”

“Well she wasn’t the most….pleasant human we’ve encountered.” Milia sighed, checking her phone as well. “Speaking of not hearing from Landon hasn’t text me about Aodh in days and I’m getting worried.” 

“Did they have a fight?” Lissa asked. She wasn’t completely caught up on Emilia’s affairs. She wasn’t entirely sure what the situation was, and it wasn’t entirely something she wanted to understand.

“Well what the heck is it? Maybe I can help. I can be of use sometimes.” He chuckled, amused by her attitude honestly. 

Clarissa looked at him for a moment, before shaking her head. “If I tell you, mom will find out and she will kill me.”

“Have you tried asking Professor Fils-Aime?” Bex suggested.

“I would, but I don’t think the potion I want to make is actually viable to the curriculum - it was in a book that was hidden away in Florish and Blotts when I visited London a couple of years ago. You know, they like a lot of potions that require unknown resources.”

“Quidditch has balls that try and knock you off your broom and Quodpot has balls that explode. They’re both violent.”

“Right....” Clarissa nodded, disappearing into her mind for a moment before she looked back at Kari. “What if there was a way to make sure you didn’t have to worry about coming off the pitch to get healed?”

Liliana could see the girl was nervous and smiled. “What kind of ingredient? I can help you find it.” 

Clarissa thought for a moment, wondering how much information about her upcoming experiment she could indulge the professor in. Then again, having a potions professor help her wouldn’t be such a bad thing. “Unicorn blood,” she muttered, looking away sheepishly. “Not much, just enough to make sure it works.”

Emilia jumped on Clarissas bed, grinning at her as she held out a present. “Happy Birthday!!”

Clarissa groaned as she turned over, pushing Emilia away. “It’s six am, how are you even awake? Fine, I’ll bite,” she moaned, sitting up slowly.

As she talked, Major thought about it, “Alright, i’ll go with you. You know i’m always down for fun and creepy.” He laughed, “Where do you find these places anyway?”

"Old books, I've been interning at a no-maj school, and there's an old library down the street, and it's huge I tell you no lie. So many old books and photographs. This picture was inside a medical book." Clarissa grinned at him. “Come on, it can be my birthday treat!”

“Did you go to Transfiguration last…” He squinted, trying to think. “Tuesday? I would do anything to borrow your notes.”

“Last Tuesday...” Lissa dug through her memory. “We were working on Animagi, and all my notes are in my head. Haven’t you learnt that by now?” Lissa smiled at Logan. “But, if you’re willing to do anything... I may be able to write up what I know.”

“Okay, wait - you took Potions last year, right? Was this -” Cat pointed to a paragraph in her book. “On your exams? Because I cannot get it straight and I’m about ready to just give up.”

Lissa leant up enough to read through what she was studying. “Unless they changed it, nope. Nothing on Liquid Luck. You’ll study it in class, more than likely, but you won’t actually have to worry about it on NEWTs.”
