Team-Building Tip #1: The House Method
In order to help companies and corporations with their team building endeavors, the CLASH crew routinely undergo extensive training and do team building activities and games ourselves.
We've decided to share the results of our studies and practice to help you and your team discover new ways to work together, fun team-building activities you can do, and real tips that work.
Here is this week's tip for successful team building
Literally build a team like you would build a house. Try putting your CEO or team–leader at the base of the structure. If he or she can hold up the team, he/she is fit for a leader. If he/she fails, fire him/her.
Some leaders have tried this and were able to hold up their team members with their physical strength. When that fails, they might be able to use their organization tactics or delegation skills to keep the structure up.
Studies show that team scavenger hunts lead to successful delegation of tasks, positive eating habits, and enhanced communication skills.
NextSpace: Our Home Away from Home
Our event-space and office, the CLASH Clubhouse, is being beautified for the next two weeks. During the remodeling, we're working close to the Clubhouse at a cool coworking space near Powell Street BART Station called NextSpace.
For those of you who don't know what coworking is, it's a kind of cooperative workspace environment where individuals or folks from separate companies can work together! It's perfect for entrepreneurs and small companies. Because NextSpace has so many different individuals coming together to work, they've done some fun team-building activities with us. I just wanted to feature some of the awesome team-members of NextSpace.
Meet the NextSpace Crew
This is Kyle. He's the community builder at NextSpace. His bright and shining face is the first thing you see when you walk into the office space.
Fun fact: Kyle wanted to be a lego architect when he was a kid.
Shim & Matan showed their martial arts skills (they're from Israel, the birthplace of Krav Maga!). They work with Drippler, an app that keeps you up to date on your mobile devices. Matan is the CEO! Their usual office is in Tel Aviv.
Fun Fact: Shim's spirit animal is a dolphin. Matan loves the NextSpace chairs.
Joe and Adam from Giant Staffing sneak attacked their fellow coworker during her office call. Giant Staffing works out of NextSpace and recruits folks for interactive and creative positions in all sorts of companies.
Anubhav showed us a perfect power lunge—he is SO prepped for a scavenger hunt. Anubhav does UX design and development. He's new to NextSpace, loves the team, and can't wait for the next team-building adventure.
Dusty showed off his ab strength in a perfect plank. Dusty is a developer and is currently working on a cool golf GPS app.
Lindsay's enthusiasm and energy make her the perfect community curator at NextSpace. She helps bring all of these developers, consultants, freelancers, entrepreneurs, small tech startups and even a sex coach and helps them become the family-like team that they are!
Here's the NextSpace crew taking part in a CLASH team-building scavenger hunt!
Check out the team building their coordination skills and learning to be in sync in order to jump over a jumprope made of the teammates' clothing!
Three NextSpace members doing synchronized cartwheels. This impeccable timing requires true listening to your fellow teammates.
Nothing says team-building, trust, and getting-to-know-each-other better than two coworkers attempting to fit in one t-shirt.
We'll be excited to go back and work in the Clubhouse, but for now, CLASH is having a fantastic time hanging out with our NextSpace family!
Did I mention that we are hosting a FREE All Ages scavenger hunt within the De Young Museum's Sculpture Garden tomorrow night (Friday March 29th) at 6 PM? The event will be about 45 minutes, complete with a drool-worthy grand prize, and lots of culture! How frisky have you gotten with works of art?
This is the perfect free Friday night event to bring your kids! Your date! Your boss! That neighbor whose car you ran into! Oh my goodness, there will be free Ghiradelli chocolate.
Really. If you're looking for a unique adventure in an Francisco, the De Young Museum tomorrow night is the place to be. How often do you get to see penguins, adventure guides in spandex, and classic art all in the same place? Never. Never. Just tomorrow.
Afterwards, say hi to Johannes Vermeer's lady, the Girl with a Pearl Earring. If you squint hard enough, she kind of looks like Scarlett Johansson. There's also a gorgeous observatory that allows you a most romantic view of the entire city. Don't miss this!
More information and scheduling here!
The De Young Museum contacted us last week. Apparently there's a penguin on the run from California Academy of Sciences and they've called in CLASH because they heard we do the best scavenger-hunts. They asked if our scavenger-hunt skills translate to penguin hunting skills. We said YES! CLASH and the De Young invite everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond to join us on Friday evening at the De Young to help us catch this penguin! A prize will be given to the one who can trap this beast! We need to make sure this penguin is caught before there is an untamable flock of penguins in Golden Gate Park, spreading avian flu! Hunt stars at 6 PM. Join us for some free delicious classiness in San Francisco.
When life shoves your face in the concrete, put on some spandex and give us your best sexy face. It gets better.
CLASH Clubhouse!
Scavenger hunts are now taking place at our brand-spankin'-new CLASH Clubhouse, located on 447 Stockton Street! It's just a stone's throw away from San Francisco's Union Square and just a short walk from BART.
We've been decking out the Clubhouse for the last couple of weeks, filling it with neon and spice. Joey the Cat designed a special fanny-pack lighting system just for us—we're pretty sure we're the only private event space in town with a fanny pack lighting system.
The skeeball machine completes our Chuck-E-Cheese meets rave look and bright neon pink lockers give you a place to drop your goods when you're out on a team-building scavenger hunt!
Even if you're not with us on a scavenger hunt, make sure to drop by for a quick game of skeeball with us! If you can beat our high score, we'll make you a free drink!

40,000 Harlem Shake videos have been uploaded to YouTube in the last 24 days and here's one more.
The thrill of Victory!
This Dad Came to Play!
Last weekend we ran a 25th birthday party scavenger hunt and the birthday girl brought her father. He was more pumped up for this scavenger hunt than anyone we had ever seen! It made for an hilarious afternoon of scavenger hunting that will forever be engrained in our minds.
These Grannies Came to Play
Group of grannies in Palm Springs heard about us and our tagline "Not your grandma's scavenger hunt." After a long intense scav hunt in the depths of Indian Valley we now stand corrected.
To hear more about this bizarre lifestyle we find ourselves in sign-up for our Hump Day Email which you'll get every wednesday.
