There is more than one language on Gallifrey, so the Doctor’s native language is Lungbarrowian (which is like English in sound and grammar), the Master’s native language is Oakdownese (which is like Spanish), Romana’s native language is Heartshaved (which is like Estonian), the Rani’s native language is Gallifrey’s version of Hindi, and so on.

Fact #1152

The reason there’s so many missing episodes from Troughton’s era specifically is because at certain points, Jamie clinged to the Doctor so much Frazer Hines and Patrick Troughton somehow ended up morphing into one person. Thankfully, this was able to be sortes out and they were separate from each other almost entirely for the rest of their lives. Though only about one part remained, explaining why Frazer’s “impression” of Troughtons so accurate.

Though the Doctor remembers most of what they’d forgotten in their Eighth incarnation by now, they still cannot remember their name. This might not have been the original intent of the original directors but there was only one episode where the Doctors name was revealed and it has been destroyed, and nobody who may have seen it could remember it as they were all either children or any other recirds of the revelation have been mysteriously lost. This is why the new series uses the excuse that only certain children will understand the Doctors name. It is also supposedly the reason Eights first lines were “who am I?”.
