"and the stars look very different today..."
prometheus: hot take,
the greek gods: no give that back
I shouldn’t have laughed that loudly
Genuinely curious. Do you think any of the kids had two functioning and loving parents?
I know Granny loves Herry, but I can't remember if she raised him or not. And Theresa's Dad gave her stuff but no attention after her Mom died, right? And I know we see Jay's Mom and Hermes tells her he's going to space camp but, come on, you bought that?
They don't all have to have a tragic backstory, the tragedy is that they all have the weight of the world on their shoulders now. And it's a cartoon so I CAN suspend my disbelief, but it's so bizarre to me that aside from a few mentions in fewer episodes, none of the kids seem to have family in their lives.
I choose to believe that Jay's mom saw through Hermes' lies and was like, "Welp, my kid is in some Hellenistic shenanigans" and rolled with it. I remember Jay being super knowledgeable about Greek mythology, so I assume his mom read to him about/ told him the stories of ancient Greece.
I mean otherwise wouldn't she be worried about the lack of communication, then again so should the other parents.

Ares in Mythology:
Kills the guy who tried to assault his daughter and refused to apologize for it when he got put on trial (it was ruled justifiable homicide by Athena btw).
The only time he’d been captured in battle was when he was protecting his mom from being captured by giants who wanted to forcibly marry her.
Found and Freed Thanatos when he was imprisoned by Sisyphus when no other Gods could
Helps found the Amazons by helping their founder escape her abusive husband and becomes their patron God.
Genuinely loves and respects Aphrodite as her own person
One of his epithets is “feasted by women”.
Ares in Modern Media:
Meatheaded sexist asshole out of an eighties teen movie.
Conclusion: My boy is getting done dirtier than Hades in modern representation. Ares is one of the least problematic Gods in the pantheon (except for the murders, I will grant you) and ya’ll are sleeping on him.
“there’s no platonic explanation for this”
Well there is actually, they’re friends. They’re friends and they love each other and it doesn’t mean any less than if they were dating and they loved each other. They’re friends and that means devotion and affection and loyalty and love, and there is no point in which that love reaches a level that immediately indicates that their relationship must be romantic.
Character A: “The real tragedy was the friends we made along the way.”
Character B: “Don’t you mean ‘treasure’?”
Character A: “No. Having to care about other people has been a real bummer for me and my personal goals.”
Archie & Atlanta being one of the best animated couples ✨
Class of the Titans
Unfinished piece that I'm still pretty happy with. Hope to find time to finish it one day.
Archie, descendant of Achilles, from the TV show Class of the Titans. The discord is hosting monthly prompts and this one was actually for June. Pajamas! (JUNE JAMMIES)
I also wanted to give him a room scene bc we never really saw his in the show outside of concept art. This is a more modernized take seeing as he's secretly a softboi and would have more than just weapons despite what his mentor, Ares, thinks.
Irondad
A conversation I had with my nephew about a baby gate.
Herry: How am I going to get over the gate?
Theresa: You could just move it.
Herry: I'm going to have to climb over.
Theresa: No, you can just move it.
Herry: It's the only way.
Theresa: It's literally not though??
We were robbed of Uncle Apollo.
He was buds with pretty much all of their ancestors. He gets lines in ONE EPISODE!
He would be THE fun uncle, especially for Atlanta.
Expanding on this!
Apollo, in my mind, would be someone who gives bad advice, sometimes on purpose.
He'll convince the kids to sneak out after curfew, and help them past Athena, just because he really wants to take them to a (insert your favorite band here) concert.
He'll do them favors whenever they ask. For a price. The kids have to sing or perform the song of his choice. His taste ranges from ancient Greek chants to classical music to Glam Rock. It just depends on his mood.
He's petty so he holds some things against the kids that their ancestors did. Some days, his bad days, he doesn't really care if he's putting the kids in danger by taking them to his red cow ranch without telling anyone else, they're mortal, they're going to die anyway. (And that's the pettiest and most heart breaking thing any of their ancestors did to him)
We could potentially address who it was that challenged Orion to swim out to that target, and who it was that challenged Artemis to hit it. Spoiler alert, it was Apollo.
On his good days, he hangs out with them.
He and Neil will tan, he and Odie will synthesize music on his laptop (it may or may not be pirated)
He'll give objective constructive criticism on Archie's poetry and will talk classic epics and sonnets with him.
Theresa plays the lyre with him and they jam to the pop songs she rarely admits to liking. He helps her make sense of her visions as the god of prophecy. He tells her about past oracles so she doesn't feel so isolated.
Jay is tricky to hang out with. He is focused and burdened and acts so adult that even he lets loose, it's jarring enough that Apollo remembers they're kids that he's the god of young people, in addition to many many other things. That he's supposed to be protecting them and instead he has to let them fight a war.
Atlanta is the easiest to hang out with and the one he gets attached to the quickest. They go hunting together and he teaches her to play an instrument. (I'm thinking violin Lindsey Sterling style) It's like he's playing with his honorary niece again.
He withdraws for a while once he realizes he actually cares about them, that they're more than a fun new source of entertainment. But by then it's too late. He already loves them. Usually during flights he just sits on the side and routes them on. But when he stands up? Oh boy. The kids realize that even old, severely depleted gods are still hobbling far beyond human strength.
Looks like I won’t be marrying Penelope…
Hopefully the upcoming film will have enough budget for the other 11 axes!

In love with the idea of Oddie having ridiculously good aim.
